Dieters eager to kickstart their weight loss regimen with the best fat burning workout may be interested in the scientifically-based The Diet Solution Programby exercise specialist and certified nutritionist Isabel De Los Rios. More than 50,000 dieters worldwide have lost weight naturally and permanently with De Los Rios’ The Diet Solution Program available at http://www. TheDietSolutionProgram. com.

According to IBISWorld, the combined revenue generated by gym, health and fitness clubs generated an excess of $23 million dollars in 2010. Reuters recently featured a report by the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association (IHRSA), which indicates that those numbers are likely to increase in 2011 as workout facilities begin to target the specific needs of different age groups.

Regular exercise has long been an important part of the personal health and weight loss goals for millions of Americans, including Isabel De Los Rios who struggled for years to drop the 30 excess pounds she carried on her petite frame. Motivated to avoid a family history of type II diabetes, De Los Rios tried everything including counting calories, limiting carbohydrates and focusing on low-fat “healthy foods” all without success.

After studying food and its impact on the body, De Los Rios became a certified nutritionist and exercise specialist. Using her newly acquired knowledge, she dropped those 30 stubborn pounds for good and developed the scientifically-based The Diet Solution Program found at http://www. TheDietSolutionProgram. com. This unique approach to weight loss has helped 50,000 dieters to lose weight for good by combining the best fat burning workout with metabolism-boosting foods.

The Diet Solution Program reveals the facts on diets, including how eating the right kind of fat will help you burn fat.

Isabel De Los Rios explains, “We’ve been told by every health guru that fat is what makes people fat. The truth is eating the right kind of fat will burn fat off your body. Eat the wrong kind of fat and your body will store fat.”

De Los Rios encourages dieters to reduce or even eliminate partially hydrogenated oils and instead focus on metabolism-boosting foods and the best fat burning workout to achieve personal health, fitness and weight loss goals.

SteelEye Partners with GTS and Northrop Grumman to Provide Business Continuity and Advanced Availability for U. S. Navy Combat Systems

SteelEye Partners with GTS and Northrop Grumman to Provide Business Continuity and Advanced Availability for U. S. Navy Combat Systems

SteelEye Protection Suite will ensure the continuous availability of GTS open architecture Common Processing System (CPS)

Menlo Park, CA (PRWEB) January 11, 2010

SteelEye Technology, Inc. (steeleye. com), a leading provider of business continuity and disaster recovery solutions for multi-vendor IT infrastructures, and Global Technical Systems (GTS, gtshq. com), the Common Processing System (CPS) Prime Contractor, today announced their partnership to deliver a highly available infrastructure to support the U. S. Navy’s new CPS. In this partnership, SteelEye Protection Suite (SPS) for Linux Multi-Site Cluster Edition (SLMSCE) will ensure the continuous availability of host software applications designed to support the Navy’s combat systems across its entire fleet.

The new CPS provides a processing system that supports the Navy’s planned implementation of Open Architecture (OA) for naval combat systems. CPS will be designed around commercially available hardware and software, including computer processing and memory, data storage and extraction and I/O interfaces that will support host software applications of Navy combat systems running on Red Hat Linux. GTS CPS software partner, Northrop Grumman (NGC northropgrumman. com), worked side by side with GTS on the selection of SteelEye Protection Suite.

As the only solution for Linux that meets the Navy’s requirements for achieving multi-site cluster configurations and enabling cascading multiple node failover, SLMSCE was selected to monitor and protect the Navy’s IBM BladeCenter BCHT infrastructure against planned and unplanned network downtime. With the ability to combine the robustness of a classic, shared storage cluster with efficient, block-level data replication to a disaster recovery site, SLMSCE also enables automatic replication redirection to deliver comprehensive disaster recovery protection for the Navy’s combat systems.

“With its reputation as the gold standard in high availability for the Linux platform, SteelEye seemed like a natural selection for meeting the high standards and critical requirements of the U. S. Navy,” said GTS Chief Executive Officer Terry Spitzer. “Having a depth of experience in working with the government on a variety of contracts, we look forward to teaming up with SteelEye and providing what will be the first of new technology implementations scheduled to move to open architecture.”

”The selection of SteelEye to support the CPS project with the U. S. Navy is a testament to the company’s reputation for providing flexible disaster recovery solutions to protect the mission-critical applications and systems of large organizations and enterprises,” said SteelEye President and CEO Nobuo Kita. “By ensuring the continuous availability of the Navy’s OA combat systems, SteelEye has enabled a significant advancement in technology, while contributing to the overall lifecycle cost effectiveness of the OA initiative.”

Implementation is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter and the solution will be configured by Virginia Beach, Virginia-based GTS.

”As a leading alternative in reliable, flexible high availability clustering solutions for Linux, SPS for Linux Multi-Site Cluster Edition enables us to provide a disaster recovery infrastrcuture with the capability to support the critical weaponry of the U. S. Navy fleet,” said Craig Black, GTS program manager for the CPS project. ”The combination of our decade-long expertise in supporting the Navy’s Open Architecture strategy with SteelEye’s Protection Suite will enable us to deliver the hardware, installation and supplementary services to quickly and efficiently meet our timetable and provide the round-the-clock monitoring and protection required by the U. S. Navy.”

SteelEye's LifeKeeper maintains the high availability of clustered Linux systems by monitoring system and application health, maintaining client connectivity and providing uninterrupted data access. For more information, visit steeleye. com.

Investors are faced with thousands of choices when it comes to investing, and it can be very confusing and time-consuming to figure out the best approach. Informed Investing has developed and tested a unique strategy aimed at beating the market without increasing portfolio volatility. The strategy has been tested back to 1995 with historical data, and also used in real time for a number of years. While easy to follow, it has handily beaten the market without any guess work or rule changes along the way.

This newly revealed strategy involves buying and exchanging mutual funds quarterly, which minimizes the time an investor has to spend managing their portfolio. It has been tested with funds from both Fidelity and Schwab, which allows users to choose between two great mutual fund companies. School Children Across the Country are Helping to Say Thank You to Veterans and Active Duty Service Personnel

Schools from over 20 states including Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Texas and Ohio have been signing specially designed Thank You cards that are being shipped in care packages to troops overseas and delivered to military hospitals including Walter Reed Army Hospital.

Cincinnati, OH (PRWEB) March 7, 2008

Schools from over 20 states including Georgia, Florida, Maryland, Texas and Ohio have been signing specially designed Thank You cards that are being shipped in care packages to troops overseas and delivered to military hospitals including Walter Reed Army Hospital.

The Thank You Foundation, a Cincinnati based 501c3 non profit organization, has been offering the cards to schools as part of its Thank You card program. Some schools have gone a step further by working with the Foundation to do care package drives.

In addition, to the Thank You cards the Foundation sent over 1000 Christmas cards during the holidays along with over 300 care packages. Cards were also hand delivered to wounded soldiers at Walter Reed by its volunteers in Washington D. C.

Foundation President and Founder John Guinn said, "The Thank You card program has been very successful and it gives our young people an opportunity to reflect on the service and sacrifices made by our Military Personnel and Veterans."

"The program just isn't for school aged children. We recently shipped 25,000 cards to a University of South Carolina student who is working with children of all ages including students at the University to get cards signed," Guinn added.

The Foundation has been visible at various events in the Cincinnati area getting cards signed and collecting items to be shipped in care packages. In November 2007 the Foundation announced its plans to build a mobile health unit to be donated to the Cincinnati Veterans Administration Hospital, and supported several Cincinnati Military Families for the Holidays.

In February 2008 the Foundation announced its "Blue Skies" program which will offer disabled Veterans the opportunity to go tandem skydiving and a partnership with Careers in Focus LLC to offer Veterans a discounted resume service and job coaching.

A Horse’s “Rags to Riches” Drama. . .

(PRWEB) August, 2003 -- Abby, a 16-year-old quarter horse that endured severe neglect and abuse before she was rescued in Oct. 2002 by the Polk County, Fla., County SheriffÂ’s Department will have both a new home and new responsibilities at NatureÂ’s Place Therapy, which is located in a serene, farm-like setting at Davenport, close to Orlando.

Abby will arrive at Nature’s Place on Sat., Aug. 16, in her “rags to riches” drama.

Donated to Nature’s Place by Dr. Theresa Nenezian, of God’s Helping Hands Therapeutic Riding Center at Lake Wales, Abby was “adopted” by Nenezian after the sheriffs found Abby in her dismal condition. Abby was given love, shelter, health services, and other rehabilitations at Lake Wales.

Abbey will now live a rich life at NatureÂ’s Place working with kids and adults who have impairments and neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions.

The gentle, chestnut-colored mare that stands 14 hands tall will help specially trained therapists at NatureÂ’s Place provide treatments to clients who suffer conditions such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Multiple Sclerosis, learning or language disabilities, or traumatic brain injury.

“By having Abby donated to us, we can now expand our rehabilitation services to include hippotherapy—the use of a horse in a client’s treatments,” Deborah Adams, director of Nature’s Place Therapy said.

“We already have a waiting list of 26 clients who can benefit from hippotherapy,” she added.

Hippotherapy is so named from the Greek root-word “hippos,” meaning horse and does not refer to Africa’s 4,000-pound hippopotamus. Hippotherapy is defined by the American Hippotherapy Association as “a term that refers to the use of the movement of a horse as a treatment tool” by physical, occupational, and speech-language therapists.

In hippotherapy, the movement of the horse becomes a treatment tool by therapists to help improve impaired balance, coordination, and communication. Hippotherapy can also help improve poor postural control, and gross motor skills involved in sitting, standing, and walking.

It also provides numerous mental, psychological, and emotional benefits, as well as sensory and educational benefits. The therapeutic benefits of the horse were recognized as early as 460 BC. Eventually, the use of the horse in therapy spread throughout Europe, the United States, and Canada.

“We are delighted to welcome Abby to her new home with us,” Adams said. “The equine-assisted therapy with Abby will be available as soon as a corral and small pole barn are completed. Much of that work will be done by volunteers at our 2nd Annual Old Fashioned Barn Raising that will take place Sat., Aug. 16.” She said more volunteers will be welcomed to help.

NatureÂ’s Place Therapy is a not-for-profit corporation that serves those who live in Lake, Polk, Orange, and Osceola counties. Therapy is provided to any and all who need it, regardless of payment capabilities. Call 863/421-0556 about therapy programs or volunteer opportunities.

OAADS Endorses Senior Approved Certification To Its Membership

OAADS Endorses Senior Approved Certification To Its Membership

The members of the Ohio Association of Adult Day Services reap the benefits of Senior Approved Certification.

Ohio (PRWEB) September 5, 2007

In keeping with its mission to strengthen the ability of its members to offer quality adult day services by providing education, advocacy and leadership, The Ohio Association of Adult Day Services (OAADS) has added a new membership benefit.

Members of OAADS can now take advantage of the opportunity to qualify as a Certified Senior Approved Service and as members, receive an immediate 10% discount on the survey/certification fee. Those businesses that qualify reap the benefits of third-party validation; a unique benefit designed around the ever-increasing demands of the consumers' desire of an independent means to quickly and easily locate credible services to contract with on behalf of aging parents.

"It has been an awesome experience to know and collaborate with the Founder/CEO of Senior Approved Services, Barbara Mascio," states Tom Begert-Clark, OAADS Board Member and founder of Even as We Speak. (http://www. evenaswespeakonline. com (http://www. evenaswespeakonline. com))

Tom elaborates further by offering, "Barbara is always on the lookout for providers that are worthy to the Senior Approved Services certification. I am energized and refreshed by Barbara's never ending passion for assuring that the services her company certifies are the 'cream of the crop.' Barbara's basic mission is to see that seniors are not taken advantage of, misinformed, nor financially or mentally abused by unscrupulous businesses that might pry on the senior population."

"It is all about assuring that all seniors receive the highest quality of services, care and value based on what other seniors and caregivers have experienced and shared. I recommend and utilize Senior Approved Services to many of my clients whether it is to find an everyday household service to enrolling their loved in that awesome adult day care center. I trust Senior Approved providers to have the senior and caregiver first in mind. I recommend Senior Approved Services to all seniors and caregivers." Begert states.

ID Analytics Wins in Prestigious International Predictive Technology and Data Mining Competition

ID Analytics Wins in Prestigious International Predictive Technology and Data Mining Competition

ID Analytics Team Awarded Second Place in the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Competition (KDD Cup)

Paris, France (PRWEB) June 29, 2009

ID Analytics, the leader in on-demand identity intelligence, announced today that the company's team won the second place award among the top data analysis companies in the Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining competition (KDD Cup) organized by ACM Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining, the most important and prestigious competition on data mining and analysis in the world.

The KDD Cup is the most rigorous and oldest data mining competition in the field of predictive technology and data mining. Every year, thousands of individuals from a broad range of industries compete to create the most sophisticated mathematical models to solve complex analytical problems from different disciplines such as medicine, marketing or environmental sciences.

ID Analytics' team placed second in the KDD Cup "fast challenge" and the Association for Computing Machinery's Special Interest Group on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining (ACM SIGKDD) officially presented ID Analytics with the award on June 28, 2009, at the 15th Annual ACM SIGKDD conference on Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining in Paris, France.

The 2009 KDD Cup challenge was "Fast Scoring on a Large Database." Teams worked on large marketing databases from the French telecommunications company Orange to predict the propensity of customers to switch providers, buy new products or services, or signup for upgrades that increase the profitability of the sale. The overall goal was to beat the in-house Orange analytics system currently in place.

With 4,732 completed valid entries, each team had to download and pre-process the data, choose the right modeling algorithm, build the best model, and submit the results in a short period of time (within five days for the "fast challenge").

The 2009 ID Analytics effort was led by principal scientist Dr. Jianjun Xie, with a team comprised of scientists Dr. Viktoria Rojkova and Dr. Siddharth Pal, and chief technology officer, Dr. Stephen Coggeshall.

"ID Analytics earned this recognition based on its superior modeling technology and advanced analytics skills. Our analytics organization is an exceptional group of talented professionals with diverse expertise in engineering, physics, computer science and mathematics. They continuously create advanced analytical technology that provides businesses with predictions of the likelihood of identity risk associated with an individual and provides consumers, through MyIDScore. com, with a quick and easy way to assess their risk of identity fraud," said Coggeshall.

ID Analytics gives leading telecommunications, financial services, retailing, utility, ecommerce, and healthcare companies, as well as key government agencies, unprecedented visibility into individual identities. This allows organizations to drive new revenue opportunities, reduce financial losses, and comply with relevant federal regulations.

Historical winners of this competition are organizations with worldwide recognition and prestige in research such as the MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), the ATT Laboratories, IBM, Carnegie Mellon, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, the Indian Institute of Technology and the Chinese Academy of Science.

Artist Darrel Tank Releases Four-Disc Hair Series

Artist Darrel Tank Releases Four-Disc Hair Series

The newest release from the Darrel Tank is complete and ready for pre-order

Boise, ID (PRWEB) December 5, 2010

The newest release from the Darrel Tank is complete and ready for pre-ordering on Dec. 3. The highly anticipated How to Draw Hair series will be packaged and ready for shipping by Dec. 13, just in time for Christmas!

The four-disc series explores the colors, textures and transitions of hair, giving students an approach to create illusions of naturally flowing hair themselves. By building on techniques introduced in previous 5-Pencil Method videos, the series begins by diving into detail to explain the reasoning and logic to Tank’s formulated pattern for drawing and how it’s used to create realistic hair in portraits. Starting with the structure and perspectives of hair all the way through drawing braids and beards, Tank’s easy to follow tutorial has something new for beginners and expert artists alike.

“I know many of the difficulties that you can run into while trying to draw a face, let alone the hair, and I have some solutions that will work,” Tank said.

“One of my great desires and endeavors in teaching, is to motivate and inspire a person to try something that they may have never done before. It is so easy to have your life and opportunities go by, never conquering, or even trying something that you may have wanted to do.”

Lori Green, one of Tank’s thousands of students, says after trying Tank’s 5-Pencil Method, she completely believes in his instruction and methods. After running into his tutorials online, Green, who has had a natural talent since a young age, shared the tutorials with her 12-year-old daughter, who also has always had a gift for art.

After months of practicing the 5-Pencil Method, Green’s daughter, Jessica, submitted her work to an art competition in Clark County, Nevada, where she was one of 400 applicants across the county’s junior high school and high school students.

“She won the Clark County Teachers Health Trust art contest using Darrel’s method,” Green said. “She was competing against juniors and seniors throughout the whole county.”

The competition win gives Jessica a higher chance to be recognized and accepted into the art school that she wants to apply to.

“The contest winners work will be used for the cover of the school district calendar, so her drawing is the cover,” Green said. “There will be over 50,000 copies run for it, so now she can say she’s been published!”

The 5-Pencil Method is a formulated process that is used to teach the fundamentals and basic principles needed to draw, shade and contour. The method is both for beginners and advanced artists alike, who wish to improve and learn new techniques that produce realistic portraits.

Pre-ordering for the new four-DVD set How to Draw Hair begins on Friday, Dec. 3. To place an order or to purchase any other 5-Pencil Method products, visit us online at http://www. fivepencilmethod. com.

For more information on the release of the 5-Pencil Method’s 4-volume How to Draw Hair Series contact Michelle Bollman at (423) 910-9033 or michelle(at)fivepencilmethod(dot)com.

The 5-Pencil Method was first released on DVD in October 2009, in hopes of reaching a broader audience, after the method reached and had much success in the local market. The products are designed to showcase Tank’s passion to share the fun of drawing that he has experienced.

Darrel Tank has worked as a professional illustrator for over 40 years. In 2001 he began teaching the drawing methods that he developed throughout his career and found a natural talent--and deep satisfaction--in helping his students achieve results beyond their expectations.

Here are the Other Reasons Besides Price Why, I prefer The Greatest Vitamin in the World Found at www. Valleyofwellness. com to Garden Life of Primal Defense.

The Greatest Vitamin in the World fortified with stabilized Probiotics offers superior pricing and is superior wholistic organic nutritionalformula.

(PRWEB) November 6, 2004

While The Greatest Vitamin in the World and Primal Defense boost to supply probiotics, I find that the Greatest Vitamin in the World nutritionally support the wider immune system, the body and intestinal wellbeing as a whole! The Greatest Vitamin in the world by promoting optimal health in all areas can only further enhance the performance of the superior stabilized probiotics found in the greatest vitamin in the world. They also have constant education system via webstore www. Valleyofwellnes. com via listed conference calls. The formulator Doug Grant is also available on Monthly basis via a free conference call to the Greatest Vitamin users and distributor. He offers his superior service to doctors and many professional athletes many of whom are in NBA. Most of distinguishing information is available at www. Valleyofwellness. com.

My only draw back about this formula is that is not yet available in stores. However, they offer superior delivery via www. valleyofwellness. com. Many customers claim that they have received there orders in 72 hours. There money back guarantee is exemplatory. This all in one 60 patents'enhanced formula should definitely save you money. This development is important since many people are distracted from taking organic supplements since they usually have to take multiple formulas which is often confusing with prices that only the choicest budgets can afford.

The Greatest Vitamin in the World fortified with superior probiotic found at www. Valleyofwellness. com is highly recommended.

The new DRUM magazine sees itself as successor to the famous African magazine called Drum

The new DRUM magazine sees itself as successor to the famous African magazine called Drum.

That publication and ours allude to an instrument which was used as a means of communication long before the UK even existed! The Drum referred to in the masthead is more than just a communicative musical instrument: it is a traditional symbol of Black aspirations in Africa and throughout the world.

(PRWEB) April 14, 2003

New DRUM magazine has genuine and close links with the famous Drum Magazine of Africa not just in tone and spirit but in continuity with its very creators back in the 1950s. That continuity is evident in one of the launch articles written by author Sylvester Stein who was editor of Drum Magazine in its apartheid-fighting heyday. Another launch article is written by Ron Godfrey, son of Peter Godfrey, the former editor of its West African editions.

The new free DRUM magazine will focus on the latest issues and breaking stories shaping the lives of Black African and Caribbean people everywhere. Important stories the mainstream press doesn't get; inside access where outsiders fear to tread. The latest in music, health, arts, fashion, film, travel, food, events and in-depth features aimed at people of African descent and their families and friends at home and abroad. Indeed, any drummer who explores our publication as a means to further his or her understanding of the instrument will be sorely disappointed!

The re-immergence of DRUM: LIVE LIFE TO A DIFFERENT BEAT in London is due to take place on Friday 25 April 2003. The magazine is distributed free-of-charge through a network of clubs, bars, restaurants, gyms, bookshops, arts, entertainment and music venues, libraries, community centres, clinics, schools, universities, libraries, and other local outlets in Britain and abroad.

Summertime Alert for Dogs That Swim

Summertime Alert for Dogs That Swim

Freshwater ponds, lakes and streams could be deadly to your water dog if they contain toxins borne by blue-green algae. If the water where your dog swims looks cloudy, with a green or blue-green cast, you should suspect a dangerous overgrowth of blue-green algae, and prevent your dog from ingesting the water.

Norwalk, CT (PRWEB) July 1, 2007

Whole Dog Journal confirmed a recent report, currently in wide circulation in dog-related e-mail lists, from a Michigan dog owner whose nine-month-old Border Collie, Vita, died shortly after swimming in a pond near Fenton, Michigan. The man regularly brought his three Border Collies to the pond for conditioning swims. But on Monday, June 25, his youngest dog threw up after drinking some of the water, and shortly afterward, lost consciousness. Thinking that the dog had heatstroke, the owner immediately applied ice to her stomach, checked her temperature (which was normal), checked her gums (also normal), and called his veterinarian. The owner quickly took his unconscious dog to an emergency veterinary clinic, and she was placed on a ventilator, but did not survive.

The emergency vet told the dog's owner that he had recently seen other dogs die of blue-green algae toxicity - a condition that can kill pets, livestock, and people who drink the contaminated water. "Had I ever heard of the danger of blue-green algae, I never would have allowed my dogs to swim in that or any other pond; I would have bought a pool," the owner told Whole Dog Journal.

The dangers of a "toxic bloom" of blue-green algae are well known in some states. According to a website published by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, certain environmental conditions that generally occur late in summer can trigger a sudden overgrowth of a certain family of algae called cyanobacteria. This type of algae occurs in many aquatic environments year-round, but may thrive to a dangerous degree in during periods of sustained warm, sunny days in shallow, nutrient rich bodies of water. In these conditions, the blue-green algae suddenly "blooms" - that is, reproduces exponentially. The algae produce a powerful toxin - one of the most powerful natural poisons known. The state of Minnesota warns its citizens about this hazard, stating that the blue-green algae blooms are occasionally responsible for the deaths of livestock and dogs who drink contaminated water.

However, when the man whose dog died this week in Michigan contacted his state's Department of Natural Resources, looking for more information about the dangerous algae, he says he was told that the toxic blooms rarely occur except in late summer, and not to either panic or panic other people. "Had someone else panicked, we wouldn't be having this conversation right now," the grieving owner told the state representative.

Dog owners should be aware that toxic algae blooms usually occur in late summer or early fall, but can occur at any time. They can occur in marine, estuarine, and (especially) fresh water. The latter are of the greatest concern to dog owners, as dogs are commonly taken to ponds, lakes, and reservoirs in the summer for recreation, exercise, and cooling -- and they routinely drink the water. Some of these algae blooms look like foam, scum, or mats on the surface of the water. The blooms can be blue, bright green, brown, or red ("red tide" is perhaps the best-known so-called "harmful algal bloom") - but some blooms may not affect the appearance of the water. The water may or may not smell bad. As a further difficulty to dog owners trying to protect their dogs, not all algal blooms are toxic!

When an algal bloom is toxic, obviously, it can kill or seriously sicken an animal, sometimes as quickly as within 15 or 20 minutes of ingestion. The effects depend on the amount ingested, the size of the animal, the amount of food in the animal's stomach (a full stomach has some protective effect), the sensitivity of the species and individual animal, and the amount of toxin present in the bloom.

According to the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, "An animal that has ingested toxins from an algae bloom can show a variety of symptoms, ranging from skin irritation or vomiting to severe disorders involving the circulatory, nervous and digestive systems, and severe skin lesions. In the worst case, the animal may suffer convulsions and die. . . . People are seldom seriously affected by toxic algae because the unpleasant odor and appearance of water associated with blue-green algae blooms tend to make us avoid it. However, skin rashes, nasal irritation, or other health effects may result from skin contact with algal toxins. Swallowing or ingesting water with a blue-green algae bloom may cause symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, or nausea; headache, throat irritation, or muscle pain; and in severe cases paralysis or respiratory failure."

Further, the Minnesota Department of Health recommends that humans not ingest, swim or wade in water with blue-green algae, or let children or pets enter it. "If contact does occur, the material should be washed off thoroughly, paying special attention to the swimsuit area. If your pet comes in contact with a bloom, wash off your pet's coat to prevent the pet from ingesting the algae while self-cleaning. If you suspect the animal is sick from the algae, call a veterinarian immediately."

"More people should know about this hazard," the Michigan dog owner told us, his voice choking with grief. "I don't want this to happen to anyone else's dog."

New Boomer And Matures Survey: Clinton In Lead Immigration, Healthcare, Economy Top List Of Priorities; Terrorism Ranks 4th

New Boomer And Matures Survey: Clinton In Lead Immigration, Healthcare, Economy Top List Of Priorities; Terrorism Ranks 4th

Boomer Survey - When asked if the election were held tomorrow, whom would you vote for?

LaGrange Park, IL (PRWEB) January 31, 2008

As next weeks Super Tuesday Primaries convert candidates into nominees, boomers and mature adults know where they're headed in 2009. In the recent 'The Retirement Survey' conducted by Lowrey, a leader in the recreational music industry, 29% of respondents have pronounced Sen. Hillary Clinton as their choice for President. Clinton lead Democratic candidate Barak Obama by 11% of the vote, who earned 18% of voter share. In the Republican Presidential Primary, Sen. John McCain captured 20% of respondents vote, followed by Rudy Giuliani at 15%. 22.5% of women would elect Sen. Clinton if the election were held tomorrow. 22% of men would do the same.

The Retirement Survey Composition
Lowrey's customer base - the 55+ 'boomer and beyond' set - were surveyed in late 2007 on a variety of topics including financial security, healthcare, terrorism, immigration, social security and more. Lowrey surveyed 1,427 individuals born between 1936 and 1953. Participants, ranged in age from 55 to 72 and represented a cross section of the country - blue and red states combined. Respondents were asked: "If the Presidential Elections were held today, whom would you vote for."

Respondents are members of Lowrey's international music making organization, L. I.F. E. (Lowrey Is Fun And Easy). L. I.F. E. Members are highly involved in local and national volunteer efforts. Combined, they've raised almost $100,000 for various charities and have developed their own national music advocacy program that went after local, state and federal officials in an appeal to keep music in schools.

Survey Highlights 55+ Point of View
Although recent attention has been placed on the swelling numbers of the 'youth' vote, the survey highlights what those 55 and beyond is thinking. The boomer segment (those born between 1946 and 1964) alone represent over 78 million adults; in fact, 45% of the population is 40 years and older. Since January 1, 2006, a baby boomer has turned 60 every seven seconds. Those born between 1937 and 1945 represent approximately an additional 34 million voting adults. It is additionally of interest that an almost equal number of men in this segment (22%) would vote for Sen. Clinton as would women, (22.5%).

If The Election Were Held Tomorrow
On the upcoming election, The Retirement Survey showed how the candidates ranked when asked if the election were held tomorrow:

John McCain: 20%
Rudy Giuliani: 15%
Mitt Romney: 5%
Fred Thompson: 3%
Mike Huckabee: 1%
Ron Paul: 1%

Hillary Clinton: 29%
Barak Obama: 18%
John Edwards: 4%
Dennis Kucinich: 1%

3% of respondents were undecided. The results have a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points.

Voter Priorities
The Retirement Survey also provides insight into lifestyle, work and recreational activities and attitudes that boomers and beyond are gearing up for in their retirement. Highlights include:
Healthcare Must Change: 91% of respondents feel financially secure, but 82% are deeply concerned about healthcare costs and how that will affect their future. Health care issues such as paying for medical expenses, universal healthcare and rising drug costs topped the list. Affluence, medical technology and better self-care have created an entirely new stage of life for millions of boomers and beyond. The average life expectancy for a US resident at age 65 has increased four years since the mid-1960s, and American men reaching age 65 today can expect to live an additional 17.9 years. Women's life expectancy will similarly rise to 85 by 2030.

Keep the Borders Secure: 89% indicate illegal immigration as one of their top two concerns. Many felt the government was leaving the issue up to the states and not addressing the problem satisfactorily.

Social Security Shortfall: 88% are more worried about a Social Security shortfall than Terrorism. In October 2007, the first baby boomer became eligible for Social Security. Over the course of the next 19 years, over 89 million will enter into eligibility. By 2030, according to UN projections, those 65+ will account for 23% of the population as compared to 16% today. Respondents are unsure the Social Security retirement system will sustain.

It's The Economy: 82% of respondents are deeply concerned with the economy and feel more attention should be paid to the issue by candidates. Boomers earn more than $2 trillion in annual income and own more than 77% of all financial assets in the United States according to experts. Respondents felt candidates weren't addressing issues of a weakened US dollar, budget deficits, and a lackluster economy. 78% wanted to hear less about terrorism and war issues and more about economic plans.

DayOne Health, a leading outpatient weight loss surgery program located at the 900 North Michigan Surgery Center in downtown Chicago, was a contributing sponsor and participant in the 2010 Chicago Walk From Obesity, held Sept. 25 at the Oak Brook Park District. DayOne Health has joined with other organizations and volunteers to raise almost $9,000 for the ASMBS Foundation, the charitable arm of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, to raise awareness about obesity.

This is DayOne’s second year as a sponsor and contributing participant in the walk, for which 2010 was the third year in Chicago. The Chicago 2010 Walk from Obesity raised $8,864 for the foundation.

“We really appreciated this chance to support the local community and also to meet with patients and talk about our LAP-BAND program,” said Guita Griffiths, president of DayOne Health. “We can’t wait to be a sponsor next year. We hope that in the years to come, more people will participate and raise more funds.

“We aim to raise awareness of the growing obesity problem in America, and we hope our support of this event has helped make that happen.”

The Walk from Obesity began in 2003. Since then, according to the ASMBS Foundation, it has grown into the nation’s largest gathering of people affected by obesity, raising more than $3.9 million in the process.

In the Walk from Obesity, people whose lives obesity has touched gather in cities all around America to publicize the condition’s negative effects and to support each other. In 2008, the event raised more than $850,000 for the ASMBS Foundation and the educational and advocacy programs of the Obesity Action Coalition, the ASMBS Foundation’s partner.

In another effort to spread the message about possible solutions to obesity, DayOne Health is offering the chance to receive LAP-BAND® Surgery at no cost. Twelve months of free follow-up care are included.

Prospective patients have until Oct. 31st to enter the DayOne Health LAP-BAND® Give Away Contest. Entrants need only submit a short essay that states why they desire LAP-BAND® surgery and why they should be chosen among all submissions. Over one hundred people have already submitted their entries!
Obesity is a national problem — but it is also a regional and local one. More than 30 percent of Illinois residents are obese, and many people would like to be treated but cannot because of economic concerns, Ms. Griffiths said.

With this contest, DayOne aims to help one deserving, motivated patient achieve his or her health goals while spreading the word about the effectiveness of bariatric surgery for patients committed to the lifestyle changes involved.

The DayOne Health LAP-BAND® Give Away contest is open to anyone 18 or older who meets the medical eligibility requirements. Full contest rules and entry forms can be found at http://www. dayonehealth. com.

The Best Choice for Healthy and Whole Smiles - Dental Implants

The Best Choice for Healthy and Whole Smiles - Dental Implants

Dr Shawn Gurley, D. D.S, advises on dental implants versus bridges and partials. Modern-age materials combined with excellent expertise, have made implants the best solution for tooth replacement.

(PRWEB) March 22, 2005

Dental Implants: The best Choice for Restoring Smiles Permanently

Not only can Edentulism (missing teeth) plague an individual with insecurity, it can also have a dramatic impact on their quality of life. In fact, if missing teeth are left untreated, they can place stress on the remaining teeth since they require extra support, leading to an even greater tooth loss. Fortunately, there is a beautiful solution.

Modern-age materials resulting from long years of research and clinical trials, combined with excellent expertise, have made implants the best solution for Edentulism. “An implant is an artificial root made of titanium,” explains implant specialist Dr. Shawn Gurley DDS, of North Atlanta Aesthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Gurley performs the procedure much more efficiently using a local anesthetic – a huge advantage for his patients. “The placement of the implant takes about 20 minutes,” says Dr. Gurley, and the results are permanent!

Partial dentures, full dentures, and fixed bridges are now considered mediocre remedies compared to dental implants. Partial dentures can be unsightly and cause tooth decay; fixed bridges require the cutting down and crowning of natural, healthy teeth. “Dental implants,” Dr. Gurley comments, “are more ‘tooth friendly’.”

The most commonly used type of implant is placed in the actual bone (Endosteal). This type of implant is a great alternative for patients with bridges or removable dentures. According to Dr. Gurley, “The primary factor in implant success is that the patient must have adequate bone structure, since the implant relies on the jawbone for support.”

The process of dental implants may be intimidating for some patients. “It helps to know that implant techniques have been employed since the 1950’s, and improvements in procedures and materials have given implants an average success rate of 93 percent or better in a ten-year period,” assures Dr. Gurley.

There are a multitude of benefits once dental implants are in place. Dental implants look and feel so natural that patients may even forget they ever lost a tooth, and proper chewing functions are restored. The gooey adhesives of unattractive dentures are no longer necessary, gums are no longer painful, and there is actually an improvement in speech. Dental implants help to stop the progressive bone loss and shrinkage of the jawbone by mimicking the roots of natural teeth. At last patients suffering from Edentulism can have restored self-confidence and brilliant smiles.

Frequently asked questions when considering dental implants:

Can failed implants be replaced?

According to Dr. Gurley, “If an implant fails, which is highly unlikely, it can usually be replaced by another implant – and patients wouldn’t have it any other way,” he says.

Are dental implants obvious to others?

Implant treatments enable patients to have their new teeth look and feel like their very own. Dr. Gurley recommends taking a close look at the dentistÂ’s previous work, since some have a better artistic eye than others.

Will I need to be hospitalized?

Most implant procedures are performed in the dental office and under local anesthesia, although some patients may desire pre-medication or IV sedation to control apprehension. Hospitalization may be necessary for complex surgical procedures or general health complications.

Is there pain or discomfort?

Many patients report implant surgery less troublesome than having teeth removed. With modern anesthesia and close attention to post-operative care, one can expect minimal discomfort.

BuyOnlineNow. com - Free Shipping On All Trash Can Orders Over $99.

BuyOnlineNow. com, an international office supply and office furniture store based in Rochester, MN stocks a full selection of trash cans, wastebaskets, smoking stations and janitor carts. All orders over $99 ship for free.

Rochester, MN (PRWEB) September 29, 2007

BuyOnlineNow. com, an international office supply and office furniture store based in Rochester, MN stocks a full selection of trash cans (http://www. buyonlinenow. com/trash-cans. asp), wastebaskets, smoking stations and janitor carts. All orders over $99 ship for free. BuyOnlineNow carries many popular brands of trash cans such as Safco and Rubbermaid trash cans (http://www. buyonlinenow. com/rubbermaid-trash-cans. asp).

Waste management is an important part of any operations, whether it be a large corporation or a small home office. Being able to find the right blend of aesthetics and functionality can be a very difficult task. Many customer related business may want to use decorative trash cans, while in a warehouse atmosphere, larger trash cans with wheels would make more sense. As more places are becoming smoke free, a smoker's urn can be a convenient way to keep cigarette butts off the ground and in a proper waste receptacle.

In some places, such as hospitals and laboratories, a trash can is needed for the disposal of infectious waste. In this case, certified infectious waste containers should be used. They meet higher standards and regulations and comply with all safety and health codes. All biohazard waste receptacles that BuyOnlineNow carries meet the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard and all infectious waste containers are approved fire-safe.

BuyOnlineNow also carries trash cans that use motion sensors for opening and closing, minimizing the amount of contact a person would have with the waste inside. This can go a long way in preventing the spread of germs in the home or workplace. A less expensive alternative would be the regular step-on trash cans that open when you step on the pedal.

BuyOnlineNow carries some waste baskets that are labeled specifically for recycled materials. This can be very helpful when trying to keep recyclable material separate from the regular trash. BuyOnlineNow has shown a commitment to environmentally-friendly alternatives with their "Go Green (http://www. buyonlinenow. com/green-products. asp)" campaign, and strongly recommends recycling.

About BuyOnlineNow. com: Providing office supplies (http://www. buyonlinenow. com/office-supplies. asp) and office furniture (http://www. buyonlinenow. com/office-furniture. asp) to individuals and businesses for the last 7 years, BuyOnlineNow. com carries over 30,000 products in 85 distribution centers nationwide. BuyOnlineNow. com has been listed as one of the fastest growing companies in America every year since 2005 by Inc. Magazine. In 2007 BuyOnlineNow. net, their Canadian equivalent opened for business, and has been growing steadily ever since.

The Heart of America Soccer Foundation (HASF) Launches Letter Writing Campaign: Non-Profit Grassroots Organization Aims to Keep Wizards in Kansas City, Promote Economic Growth through Soccer

The Heart of America Soccer Foundation (HASF) Launches Letter Writing Campaign: Non-Profit Grassroots Organization Aims to Keep Wizards in Kansas City, Promote Economic Growth through Soccer

The Heart of America Soccer Foundation (HASF) is urging all Greater Kansas City residents to write an e-mail or letter to government officials and members of the media to keep the Wizards in Kansas City. Contact information is available at www. hoasoccer. org

KANSAS CITY, MO (PRWEB) January 2, 2005

The Heart of America Soccer Foundation (HASF) today launched a letter and email writing campaign aimed at keeping the Kansas City Wizards in the Greater Kansas City area.

HASF President, Sam Pierron said, “In a democracy, it's important to let your elected representatives know how you feel about the issues. The soccer community in the Greater Kansas City area is large but we're usually having too much fun cheering, playing, or coaching to make our voices heard. Today, though, it is important that we do so.”

In 2002, a task force formed by former Kansas Governor Graves concluded that a soccer stadium and complex in Johnson County would generate $45 million in annual economic activity and $3.5 million in local and state tax revenues. Over a 30-year period it is estimated that annual economic activity would generate $921 million and $69.4 million in local and state tax revenues.

The task force also found that Kansas ranks second in the United States in the number of youth participants in soccer per capita, and 20th nationwide in soccer participation overall. The Greater Kansas City area ranks 4th in the United States in youth-soccer participation per capita. There is a critical shortage of soccer fields in the Kansas City metro area for tournaments, practices, and league games. All of the consultants who made presentations to the task force were clear on one point: the need for more soccer fields is clear and 100% utilization is virtually guaranteed.

Wyandotte County has learned of the benefits that can be brought to an area by construction of a world-class sports facility. The task force concluded that a world-class soccer complex would bring similar benefits to whatever municipality constructed it.

On its website [www. hoasoccer. org], HASF has assembled a list of local elected officials who will be making decisions about the future of soccer in the Greater Kansas City area. If you think soccer deserves their time and attention, you are asked to send your emails and letters voicing your concerns and opinions. Contact information for unlisted areas and officials is available by request at contact@hoasoccer. org

The email and letter writing campaign will focus on the following:

· A sports complex with a Soccer Specific Stadium for 20k should attract major regional soccer tournaments and camps with teams and all participants requiring lodging, food, goods and services, and other entertainment near this complex.

· Soccer promotes health, fitness, teamwork, sport, and competition within the immediate community especially at the youth level.

· Potential for games with global and continental interest for the US National MenÂ’s & WomenÂ’s teams such as World Cup Qualifiers, US National team friendlies.

· Potential for games with national league interest such as MLS Cup & the MLS All-Star Game, US Open Cup, CONCACAF tournament opponents and other Club friendlies.

· As a voter youÂ’re tired of championship caliber entertainment and organizations leaving the Kansas City area.

· Future thinking for the growth of the community and its attractive amenities for the next 20-30 years.

· The Kansas City Wizards already have a 10 year established fan base now averaging 14,000+ per game to start.

· In 2002 a task force formed by former Governor Graves concluded that a soccer stadium and complex would generate $45 million in annual economic activity and $3.5 million in local and state tax revenues. Over a 30-year period it is estimated that annual economic activity would generate $921 million and $69.4 million in local and state tax revenues.

About the Heart of America Soccer Foundation

HASF is a non-profit corporation, organized by fans, players, and business leaders acting as volunteers to promote the sport of soccer and the role it serves to enrich the lives of Kansas Citians. In supporting all aspects of soccer in the Kansas City area, we believe the Kansas City Wizards are a tremendous asset and are dedicated to finding a permanent solution to keep them in Kansas City.

HASF will remain at the forefront of all efforts to keep the Kansas City Wizards of Major League Soccer (MLS) in Kansas City. The Foundation will advocate for the development and construction of a world-class soccer complex, which will permanently house the Wizards and provide playing fields for the use of the entire soccer community in the Greater Kansas City area.

The goals of the Heart of America Soccer Foundation are to:

· Promote the viability of the Greater Kansas City area as a long term home for the Kansas City Wizards

· Promote the economic benefits of a soccer complex to local governments

· Serve as an information clearinghouse for potential owners

· Encourage the citizens of Greater Kansas City to support the Wizards by purchasing season tickets

· Encourage participation in all levels of soccer in the Greater Kansas City area

Think Globally, Eat "Locali": Eco-Convenience Store's Sustainable Deli Expands

Chosen as one of LA Weekly's Best of 2009, Locali Conscious Convenience, Los Angeles' first eco-convenience market, continues to model successful small footprint retailing as it expands its full service organic deli menu to please both cost conscious foodies and environmentally concerned consumers.

Hollywood, California (PRWEB) October 20, 2009

If Whole Foods and 7-11 had a love child, Locali Conscious Convenience might just be theirs. A mom and pop shop meant for the new millennium, Locali offers value and sustainable food service with its full service deli. Catering to vegans and omnivores alike, as well as those with gluten and soy allergies, Locali's unique and delicious soups, salads and sandwiches draw a loyal following.

The small format eco and health friendly market packs a carefully selected inventory of natural and organic food, beverages, coffee, wine, beer, health, beauty and household items into under 500 square feet of retail space. Besides soups, salads and sandwiches, Locali features updated versions of several convenience store favorites. There's agave-sweetened slushies, organic hot pretzels and even vegan nachos to enjoy.

However, it's Locali's pre-packaged meals and baked goods from local food artisans along with their deli menu (http://www. localiyours. com/menu. pdf) that have lead sales since the opening in January 2009. "In fact, the majority of Locali's customer base are regulars who visit multiple times daily to enjoy our organic made-to-order menu and grab n' go selections," states owner, Greg Horos.

Locali is also active marketing its menu in the world of social media, successfully posting daily specials on Twitter (http://www. twitter. com/locali) and their Facebook (http://www. facebook. com/pages/Los-Angeles-CA/Locali-Conscious-Convenience/57845785465?ref=ts) fan page.

Inspired by in-person satisfaction and positive online dialogues from customers about Locali's fresh sandwiches, Horos along with his wife and business partner, Melissa Rosen, worked with Locali's chef and deli manager, Heather Joy Morrison, to expand their menu. The result is a delectable mix of panini and cold sandwiches that feature Applegate Farms® meats, rBGH-free cheeses and organic produce on locally baked breads.

There is also an additional array of unforgettable vegan sandwiches. Tempeh meatball subs, vegan BLTs and faux rosemary chicken salad sandwiches are some satisfying options for those who don't consume animal products or are looking to reduce their meat intake. In fact, any sandwich at Locali can be made with a non-GMO vegan meat substitute or cheese alternative upon request. All sandwiches can be made with gluten-free bread to accommodate those with celiac concerns. Since there's something for everyone, it's not a surprise that Locali's catering services are increasingly in high demand.

The new menu is rounded out by savory soups, organic salads full of local greens from Kenter Canyon Farms®, gluten-free wraps, loaded baked potatoes, satiating smoothies and a variety of breakfast options. "We're not giving lip service to quality," states Horos, "Melissa, and I source the best ingredients for our patrons and you truly can taste the difference." Those looking for a bargain on Locali's mouthwatering sandwiches will find the deli now offers hearty half sandwiches for under $5.00. "We're committed to a sustainable business model that puts community involvement and customer value first," adds Rosen.

In many ways, Locali is one of the pioneers in the small footprint restaurant and retail movements. "All of our service ware and deli packaging is biodegradable. We commercially compost our waste. Our recycling program benefits Recycled Movie, a film production company that teaches vocational skills to children as they make movies about the environment," notes Rosen, "We also encourage our customers to bring their reusable containers to fill up with free reverse osmosis filtered water, rather than sell petroleum-based plastic bottled water."

Locali strives to do it's part to conserve while at the same time hoping to provide its community with convenient access to healthy and sustainably produced food. Completely gutting their commercial space to be as eco-friendly as possible, Locali's shelving and counters are made from reclaimed Douglas Fir wood, their appliances are energy efficient, their walls are painted with non-VOC paints, their ceiling tiles are made of recycled materials and their lighting, including outside signage, is LED.

Locali's inspired design, eclectic product merchandising and unique menu have attracted the attention of both local and international publications. Locali and their mobile frozen dessert bike, The Icycle (http://latimesblogs. latimes. com/dailydish/2009/05/locali-icycle-gets-ready-to-roll. html) has been featured in the LA Times, Vogue Nippon and Madame Figaro.

Greg Horos and Melissa Rosen have a passion for healthy eating and a mission to make a difference through their innovative business model. Facing a litany of franchise requests already, the couple has begun to investigate this avenue of expansion. "We're also looking for the perfect second location in Los Angeles where we can fill a need," states Horos, "While at the same time, constantly searching for ways to get more involved in our current Franklin Village neighborhood." Locali donates to various local charitable causes on an ongoing basis. From volunteering their time to lead green business workshops to working on urban farming projects to sponsoring an elementary school field trip to a Community Supported Agriculture farm, Melissa, Greg and their staff are committed to improving the lives of others in multiple small sandwich at a time.
