Windsor Becomes “A Most Useless Place”

Windsor – Over the last number of years Mimetic Productions’ owner Gavin Booth has been showing the world that when it comes to production there is no better place than Windsor Ontario. With production work being completed for some of the largest entertainers in the industry and two independent films currently in post-production Gavin has now announced that Windsor is the perfect place to shoot “A Most Useless Place” the company’s third film

Windsor (PRWEB) July 20, 2006

Over the last number of years Mimetic Productions’ owner Gavin Booth has been showing the world that when it comes to production there is no better place than Windsor Ontario. With production work being completed for some of the largest entertainers in the industry and two independent films currently in post-production Gavin has now announced that Windsor is the perfect place to shoot “A Most Useless Place” the company’s third film.

A Most Useless Place is the poignant and heartbreaking story of 18 year old Casey Mills. A frail, detached, and mysterious teenager, Casey takes the viewer from the very brink of moral revulsion, to the ultimate core of human empathy. With nothing to lose but her only companion, a worn-down, battered Teddy Bear, Casey steals, lies, and threatens. She is often cruel, but her tears reveal sorrow. She is often sympathetic, but her smile hides rage. Piece by piece, scene by scene, the tangled web of her journey is unwoven. Through her eyes, she reveals her despair, her hopelessness, and finally…her Most Useless Place.

The story itself is unique but so is the way it is being told and shot. The movie which begins production on July 12 2006 is being filmed by Gavin Booth as a one man film crew, a formidable challenge that Booth is willing to take on.

“I’ve been saying for several years that digital film making is at a point where one person with a camera and a computer has the same abilities as a Hollywood studio," says Booth. “I decided this would be the perfect opportunity to put my money where my mouth is on this idea.”

The story itself is also unique as it is revealed to the viewers with absolutely no sound. Haunting images and carefully chosen music will draw in the viewers. The story line is a somber one.

“The battle with depression is something that many teens face but are afraid to speak about,” Booth explains. “That idea is what partly inspired the silent film approach. It is also one of the reasons we will be launching an awareness campaign with the Windsor-Essex County Canadian Mental Health Association to bring attention to an issue that many feel uncomfortable discussing.”

Casey will be played by Boston Massachusetts native Tanya Bettencourt who has just recently appeared in the Santana and Steven Tyler music video “Just Feel Better.”

Shooting of the movie will be done over a ten day period around Windsor and Essex County. Anyone interested in participating in the film as an extra is encouraged to contact Mimetic’s production office by calling 519-254-2172 for further details.

Susan G Komen for the Cure to Receive 100% of Proceeds from Pink, Celebrity Autographed Therabath®PRO® Paraffin Baths Online Auction

The TherabathPRO paraffin bath was featured in the NAACP Image Awards Celebrity Product Showcase March 2nd, 2007 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA. Two pink TherabathPRO baths were autographed by celebrities to be auctioned off with 100% of the proceeds to be donated to Susan G Komen for the Cure. The on-line MissionFish. org (ebay affiliate) auction will run April 2nd-11th, 2007. A link to the auction can be found at www. therabathpro. com/pink. php.

Stillwater, MN (PRWEB) March 12, 2007

Some of the hottest celebrities including LL Cool J, Vanessa Williams, Raven Symone, Jennifer Hudson, James Pickens Jr, Anika Noni Rose, Chandra Wilson and James Reynolds among others, autographed two pink Therabath®PRO® Paraffin baths, manufactured by WR Medical Electronics Co of Stillwater, MN, at the 38th NAACP Image Awards Celebrity Product Showcase held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, CA on March 2nd, 2007. This small town company located in "the birthplace of Minnesota" is about to make a big impact for a national cause. All proceeds from the on line autographed baths auction will be donated to Susan G Komen for the Cure.

The on line auction will run April 2nd-11th, 2007 on ebay (via MissionFish. org). A link to the auction can be found at www. therabathpro. com/pink. php (http://www. therabathpro. com/pink. php). Therabath has made a commitment to supporting breast cancer initiatives and will be adding other products bearing the iconic pink ribbon, or featured in a pink color. "We want our customer's commitment to this cause to be obvious when others see a Therabath®PRO® paraffin bath featuring the pink color in their home, salon or office. It may not blend with their décor, but it will be a clear indication of their support," says WR Medical Electronics Co. Marketing Manager, Elisabeth Thorn. Watch for these products to be retailed exclusively at www. therabathpro. com late summer 2007.

Paraffin therapy has been used effectively for decades to provide an alternative, drug-free approach to relieving muscle and joint pain or stiffness. The process of dipping a hand in the paraffin and removing it quickly prompts the wax to form a soft, supple, custom-fit glove on the hand. The warmth from the paraffin opens pores and a person's perspiration is brought to the surface leaving the skin soft and moist. The increase in blood flow also brings beneficial nutrients to the skin.

Therabath has been providing professional quality paraffin baths, refill paraffin and accessories since 1962. The Lifetime Guaranteed Therabath®PRO® professional unit is the industry standard for quality and is manufactured in Stillwater, MN under ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 13485:2003 standards. For more information about Therabath products, visit www. therabathpro. com or call 1-800-321-6387.

CoreValve's 18-French ReValving(TM) System for percutaneous aortic valve replacement (PAVR) demonstrated 'live' at TCT 2007: The percutaneous ReValving(TM) procedure was used to non-surgically implant a new aortic bioprosthesis over the diseased heart valve of a 74-year-old female patient who was at high risk for open-heart surgery

CoreValve (www. corevalve. com) announced today that its third-generation, proprietary aortic heart valve was implanted successfully -- non-surgically -- in a 'high-risk' patient suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) using CoreValve's percutaneous, 18-French ReValving(TM) System, at the 'TCT 2007' (Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics) scientific symposium in Washington, D. C. Sponsored by the Cardiovascular Research Foundation, TCT is one of the largest international vascular medicine meetings in the world. Dr. Eberhard Grube and Dr. Ulrich Gerckens of the HELIOS Heart Center, Siegburg, Germany, performed the ReValving(TM) procedure 'live' via satellite television from their hospital's 'cath lab' for an audience comprised of international cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and industry executives.

IRVINE, Calif. (PRWEB) October 24, 2007

"This was the 158th ReValving(TM) procedure within the scope of our post-CE Mark Expanded Evaluation registry. When combined with the results of 191 previous cases of the feasibility, safety and efficacy trials, it demonstrates that interventional cardiology treatment of structural heart disease is no longer just a hope for the future but a reality today that provides a new treatment option for high-risk and inoperable patients," said Jacques Seguin, M. D., Ph. D., Chairman, CEO and Founder of CoreValve.

About CoreValve

Founded in 2001, privately held CoreValve--which is headquartered in Irvine, California--has developed a proprietary delivery system and tissue heart valve for percutaneous heart valve replacement. Based on a novel catheter-and-self-expanding-frame approach on a beating heart, the proprietary CoreValve ReValving(TM) System procedure is intended to avoid open-heart surgery. It can be performed in a cardiac "cath lab" just like angioplasty and stenting, which may result in less trauma to the patient and may offer substantial cost-savings to the healthcare system. For more information about CoreValve, visit the Company's Web site at www. corevalve. com.

(Caution: the CoreValve ReValving(TM) System will not be available in the USA for clinical trials or for sale until further notice.)

PLEXIS Claims Manager's user-friendly, flexible claims processing software enhances SunMed's bottom line and increases quality of service.

(PRWEB) May 17, 2002

Ashland, Oregon – May 15, 2002 – PLEXIS Healthcare Systems, Inc. main software application, PLEXIS Claims Manager, has played a key role in shaping SunMed International's success. Ease-of-use, flexibility, cost effectiveness, and performance have all resulted in a positive return-on-investment for SunMed International. SunMed International's CEO, Alex Tirado, stated, "Due to the individual attention and manual intervention often required with many claims systems, the claims review and claim payment process can grow to be quite labor intensive and costly for any healthcare organization. Therefore, automating claims tasks with a user friendly but yet flexible system becomes a cost-effective function that not only enhances the bottom line but also increases service quality." Mr. Tirado added, "PLEXIS Claims Manager (PCM) is 'state-of-the-art' software. PLEXIS' user-defined system approach to its rules based engine enables SunMed to efficiently customize system parameters and meet the often complex requirements of our client base with minimal lead time. Custom tailored reporting for each client is easier than ever before. In addition, PLEXIS tables interface quite nicely with off the shelf type programs such as Access or Crystal Reports. The PLEXIS application has allowed us to effectively and efficiently expand into new International lines of business and I would recommend their system to anyone."

PCI Member to Testify Industry is Healthy, Well-Regulated

PCI Member to Testify Industry is Healthy, Well-Regulated

J. Douglas Robinson, chairman and CEO of Utica, N. Y.-based Utica National Insurance Group, a Property Casualty Insurers Association of America (PCI) member company, is scheduled to testify before the House Small Business Committee Wednesday to reiterate that home, auto and business insurers did not cause the current financial crisis, do not present systemic risk, and are already regulated effectively.

Washington, D. C. (Vocus) September 24, 2009

Robinson will tell the committee that these types of insurers are predominantly a Main Street industry that is already stable and competitive. He will ask legislators not to target new, consumer-costly regulations toward Main Street insurers such as his company--which insures schools, libraries, bakeries, child care centers, graphic arts businesses, small contractors, and funeral homes, among others.

"There is widespread recognition that home, auto and commercial insurers did not cause the financial crisis, are not systemically risky, and have strong and effective solvency and consumer protection regulation at the state level," Robinson said. "Property-casualty insurers have not asked for government handouts, and our industry is stable and continuing to provide critical services to local economies and their communities."

Robinson will urge the Obama Administration and Congress to target regulatory reforms toward where the problems occurred, rather than potentially creating fewer choices and greater costs for consumers by increasing bureaucratic requirements for systemically non-risky companies.

"PCI commends President Obama and Congress for working to ensure that the financial crisis we experienced last fall is never repeated," Robinson said. "Achieving this goal requires a focus on fixing what went wrong with Wall Street, without imposing substantial new, 'one-size-fits-all' regulatory burdens on Main Street, small businesses and activities that are not highly leveraged or systemically risky."

Robinson will also note several existing regulatory proposals that would have a substantial negative impact on small insurers and their customers if not modified, including:
The proposed elimination of all non-bank depository institutions, including thrifts, would unnecessarily eliminate many small, systemically non-risky financial companies that provide critical community services. The proposed new Office of National Insurance (ONI) is given too much subpoena and preemption power with inadequate due process or limits on its scope and its ability to enter into international insurance agreements. Systemic risk regulation should be modified to prevent huge, leveraged Wall Street firms from growing even larger through government bailouts and consolidation. Bank regulators should not be allowed to resolve systemic risk failures by reaching into the assets of insurance affiliates. A proposal by some members of Congress to repeal of the McCarran-Ferguson Act would significantly reduce insurance competition, primarily harming smaller insurers and diminishing consumer choice.

"The costs of new regulations almost always disproportionately affect small business," Robinson said. "The property-casualty industry is healthy and competitive, and the current system of regulating the industry at the state level is working well. Home, auto and commercial insurers have been stable throughout the financial crisis, we specifically rejected a government bailout, and we do not need additional regulation."

PCI (www. pciaa. net) is composed of more than 1,000 member companies, representing the broadest cross-section of insurers of any national trade association. PCI members write over $180 billion in annual premium, 37.4 percent of the nation's property casualty insurance. Member companies write 44 percent of the U. S. automobile insurance market, 30.7 percent of the homeowners market, 35.1 percent of the commercial property and liability market, and 41.7 percent of the private workers compensation market.

Global Stevia Leader Joins Wisdom Natural Brands™

Global Stevia Leader Joins Wisdom Natural Brands™

Wisdom Natural Brands™, manufacturer of SweetLeaf Sweetener®, a leading retail tabletop stevia-based sweetener and the world’s leading supplier of high purity, water-extracted stevia, announces the appointment of Angus Flood as Executive Vice President for Strategic Development, effective immediately.

Gilbert, Arizona (Vocus) January 21, 2010

Wisdom Natural Brands™, manufacturer of SweetLeaf Sweetener®, a leading retail tabletop stevia-based sweetener and the world’s leading supplier of high purity, water-extracted stevia, announces the appointment of Angus Flood as Executive Vice President for Strategic Development, effective immediately. He will report directly to Wisdom Natural Brands™ Founder and CEO, Jim May.

In his new role, Mr. Flood will develop corporate strategy to achieve key business targets and further strengthen the company’s market share in the burgeoning stevia industry, which is expected to exceed $2 billion by the end of 2011.

Angus Flood, a leading figure in the global stevia industry, joins Wisdom Natural Brands™ from Pure Circle™ where he was based in Geneva, Switzerland as Head of International Marketing.

Previously, Flood held various senior positions in the natural ingredients, organic and natural health industries including Solgar Vitamin and Herb, Inc.

In announcing the appointment, Jim May, widely regarded as the “Father of Stevia” for being the first to introduce stevia products to the United States in 1982, said, “We are delighted that Angus is joining Wisdom Natural Brands™. His commercial ability and passion are widely acknowledged in the ingredients industry. This sends the best possible signal to the market that Wisdom Natural Brands™ is resourced to take the stevia industry to the next level of mainstream consumer products.

“Angus is regularly asked to chair industry events, and his arrival marks a very exciting phase in Wisdom’s growth and continued development of our stevia business. With this addition, we now have one of the most experienced management teams in the business. Equally important, we have found the right person to spearhead the global development of our business. We will be making further announcements regarding the strengthening of our team with the arrival of key executives from Blue Chip retail brands. This is a bright day indeed for both stevia and Wisdom Natural Brands™.”

Mr. Flood underscored the company’s commitment to promoting healthy eating. “Sugar reduction is a key publicly stated immediate health goal of every Western government, as well as the majority of mass market retailers and food and beverages brands. The Western diet countries are overwhelmed with obesity and diabetes. Having achieved record penetration in the U. S. tabletop market in the 12 months since FDA GRAS, stevia is already making a significant contribution to the physical health of consumers as well as the economic health of subsistence-level farmers and their families in South America, some of whom were previously growing crops to supply the illegal drug trade.”

Angus has a positive outlook on the immediate future of the company. “Wisdom Natural Brands™ uniquely possesses several key advantages in the marketplace. The company has an integrated supply chain in the Americas, starting with leaves grown in harmony with the environment and local communities. Utilizing a proprietary water-only extraction process, which respects the natural sweetness of the leaf, delivers a category-leading retail and industrial ingredient which is widely recognized as fulfilling the promise that stevia holds. Jim and Carol May’s passion and commitment have built the stevia business in the U. S. and the time is right to accelerate the development of this ingredient which will change many lives for the better.”

NOTES TO EDITORS

About SweetLeaf Stevia®
It all started with one man who had a dream -- Jim May, Founder of Wisdom Natural Brands™.

Stevia is a naturally sweet herb native to Paraguay that has been consumed for centuries. After tasting stevia leaves given to him by a Peace Corps worker, May made it his mission to bring the extract from the deliciously sweet plant to the United States. May is world known as “The Father of Stevia.” The process involves taking the highest-quality leaves of the stevia plant and extracting their naturally sweet taste with only cool, purified water -- no chemicals, solvents or additives that adulterate and cover up the great taste created by nature.

May first traveled to Paraguay to import stevia in 1982. His most satisfying victory came in 2008, when GRAS Associates and Life Science Research Office, two completely independent panels of scientists, awarded SweetLeaf Stevia® GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status, pursuant to FDA regulations. This allowed SweetLeaf™ products made from its new, revolutionary extraction technology to be labeled as sweeteners. SweetLeaf™ could finally use the word “sweet” to describe its product, now known as SweetLeaf Sweetener®.

FDA regulations allow companies to independently determine, through a self-affirmation process performed by highly-qualified scientists, that an ingredient is generally recognized as safe by qualified food science experts. The FDA granted a no-questions letter to SweetLeaf™'s GRAS status in 2009, validating all the hard work done by May over more than a quarter of a century.

Wisdom Natural Brands™, a leading U. S. manufacturer of stevia products, offers SweetLeaf Sweetener® in convenient double-serving packets. SweetLeaf Sweetener® is sold in boxes containing either 50 or 100 packets. Each packet replaces two teaspoons of sugar. SweetLeaf™ is also sold in the SweetLeaf Stevia Plus® Shaker Bottle for easy home use and SweetLeaf SteviaTabs™ Dissolvable Tablets for easy on-the-go use.

Today, May is a leading expert on stevia and travels across the Americas promoting the benefits of the stevia plant.

Encouragement Words Takes on a New Terminology as Myeexpert Gifts Books, and Offers Free Counselling

Encouragement Words Takes on a New Terminology as Myeexpert Gifts Books, and Offers Free Counselling

A new terminology has now been added to the lexicon of what until now, was popularly known as motivational words which is also known to some as, inspiring words. It’s called Mutual Arousal.

(PRWEB) December 14, 2009

The accomplished author and medical doctor, Dr. Joel Akande speaking at the launching of his newly published book in London, UK on Thursday, said encouraging words have a boomerang effect on the speaker.

“That is to say, when you encourage somebody, like a mirror, not only does it come back to you; you are also, strengthening and motivating your own person in the process. This is the reason why I have titled my new book as Mutual Arousal: Self-Help Words of Encouragement for Healthy Living, Happiness, and Relationships …Etc” he confirmed. He continued: “You are arousing your mind and body at the same time as you strengthen others who may be in vulnerable positions”.

Published on the 10th of December 2009, Mutual Arousal, the publisher (Strategic Insight Publishing) said, is a most ideal gift at this time of the year. The director of marketing of the company, Dr. Jane Stewart was quoted as saying: “there are many individuals who may be going through stressful or despairing situations, such as illness, bereavement, relationship breakdown, loneliness and so forth, as the Year comes to a close. They will need the kind of support that Mutual Arousal offers. Also, our online counselling service via http://www. myeexpert. com (http://www. myeexpert. com), will operate throughout the holiday period to support vulnerable individuals”.

Stewart confirmed that Dr. Akande will be signing 50 copies of the book, Mutual Arousal, to be given as gifts to schools and charitable organisations in coming days: aiming to strengthen the services that these institutions provide to the public. Additional 50 copies are also being given, free of charge, to deserving individuals who apply through the website myyexpert. com on first come, first served basis. This is to promote actions in positive encouragement and to enable readers to reflect on the needs of others in our society.

Caribbean Solutions Announces Complete Line of All Natural Sun and Skin-Care Products that will Nourish Skin While Fighting UVA / UVB Rays

Caribbean Solutions Announces Complete Line of All Natural Sun and Skin-Care Products that will Nourish Skin While Fighting UVA / UVB Rays

Caribbean Solutions announces its complete line of all natural sun and skin-care products, which are created from all-natural ingredients that protect skin from UVA and UVB rays. These products enhance the overall health of skin, nourish and help fight the aging process and are eco-sensitive to both marine life and natural reefs.

Orlando, FL (PRWEB) December 23, 2006

Caribbean Solutions announces its complete line of all natural sun and skin-care products, which are created from all-natural ingredients that protect skin from UVA and UVB rays. These products enhance the overall health of skin, nourish and help fight the aging process and are eco-sensitive to both marine life and natural reefs.

Caribbean Solutions created a line of sun-care products as a natural alternative to the various sunscreen lotions on the market today that often contain harsh artificial ingredients and have adverse effects on skin. After observing people's sun-damaged skin for years as a hotel pool/beach concierge, Bruce Shanks, president and founder of Caribbean Solutions, decided to create the natural/eco sensitive line of skin-nourishing sunscreen products. Shanks says, "Sun-lovers should expect more from their sunscreens than simply sun protection."

The Caribbean Solutions line of sun-care products are made by bringing together a diverse selection of natural oils and minerals. Caribbean Solutions uses tropical plant extract, Kukui Nut oil, tea tree oil, Aloe Vera, cucumber/melon extracts and a number of Hawaiian sea plants to make unique sun-care products. The products also contain significant amounts of natural minerals such as Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide, shown to be the real protection from UVB & UVA rays.

As Caribbean Solutions experimented with different, natural ingredients, they realized that the company's new sunscreen could not only protect skin from harmful sun exposure, but also nourish it and fight the aging process. Not only does the Caribbean Solutions' sun screen product protect from the suns harmful rays, it now becomes a natural anti aging skin care product as well. The natural ingredients help moisturize, rejuvenate and refresh a user's skin, while still protecting it from the sun's harmful rays.

Caribbean Solutions sells all natural sunscreens, moisturizers, lotions, hydrators, and bath and body products. Products can be purchased individually or in packages. Sign up for the Caribbean Solutions email list at www. caribbean-sol. com and receive information about news, updates and special promotions on Caribbean Solutions natural skin care products.

Stoxrus. com Takes Stock Market to MLM

Stoxrus. com Takes Stock Market to MLM

(PRWEB) March 30, 2000

One of the best known, but least understood parts of the world's financial arena is the stock market. Buying and selling stock can be exciting and rewarding. Because the trading of stock plays such a major role in American business Stoxrus. com believes " the U. S. Stock Market is the true indicator of the financial health of our nation and an important part of everyone's financial future."

I imagine that most of us would like to have the opportunity to participate in the stock market, but the fact is many do not because they do not know how to participate or they think they need thousands of dollars to get started.

Stoxrus. com thinks they have the perfect solution. People who join as "members" receive stock market information that allows them to follow along and learn how to buy and sell stock currently trading on the market. As Frank A. Trueblood, company founder and President, points out, "Members actually watch over our shoulders as we identify, and apply the appropriate trading strategy to stocks currently trading on the market. Whether you are on-line or off-line, a Stoxrus. com membership can be of immense value to your bottom line." Members can learn to trade either on-line through the Internet or off-line through a Fax-on-Demand system. Either way, members receive daily information and strategies to help them decide which, if any, trades they may wish to make through their own brokers.

I was told by the company that the daily reports are created through an analysis of over 12,000 companies a day. This sounds impossible until you consider that the company spent about four years in developing a software system that is used by a panel of stock market and financial experts to identify and analyze specific traits of companies in order to generate these daily reports.

A crucial key to success with this program is the real value of the information provide by Stoxrus. com. The details of the daily information and the strategies offered by Stoxrus. com are highly proprietary.

If you're interested in learning more about the stock market, Stoxrus. com could be for you.

Coach Sappho's Pride Festival Raffle to Benefit Lesbian Women's Health Foundation

Coach Sappho's Pride Festival Raffle to Benefit Lesbian Women's Health Foundation

Lesbian coach donates raffle proceeds from St. Petersburg's Gay and Lesbian Pride Festival Raffle to lesbian women's health organization.

St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) June 21, 2006

Barb Elgin, President and Founder of CoachSappho. com (a subsidiary of BE A Success Enterprises, LLC), has decided to give back to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community by donating all proceeds from her St. Petersburg Gay Pride Festival raffle to the Juno Foundation.

Elgin commented on her philanthropic effort by stating, "I selected the Juno Foundation nonprofit for St. Pete Pride because it is Florida-based, was founded and is run by lesbians, and has as it's sole mission helping lesbian women with cancer. Lesbian women's health research is terribly under funded and lesbians as a group face serious issues when looking for and receiving adequate health care in our society. It's really a travesty. Many lesbian women put off going for checkups because they dread having to answer the doctor's questions about marital status and even birth control."

Genie Wood, President of the Juno Foundation, responded to Elgin's generosity by stating, "The Juno Foundation is honored to be the recipient of Barb Elgin's (Coach Sappho's) raffle proceeds at this years St. Pete Pride Festival. Barb's active support of Florida's lesbian community is an inspiration to others and should be commended. One hundred percent of donations resulting from the raffle will go directly to those that need it most, gay women battling cancer.”

The raffle and drawing will be held at St. Petersburg's June 24, 2006 Gay Pride Festival. Tickets may be purchased for one dollar each at Coach Sappho's pride booth. Prizes include accommodations at Swiftwaters Campgrounds, numerous gift certificates from gay-friendly businesses such as Flowers TLC, Esteem MedSpa, Peacock's™ Pet Shop, Pet Portraits, Drawings by Eunice Fisher, Flamingo Restaurant and Suncoast Resort Hotel, MC Film, Greg Stock Art & Design, GEO Sweeney Hair Salon at Hyde Park, and R Family Vacations.

Childhood Obesity: Why it Matters and What Parents Need to Know

Childhood Obesity: Why it Matters and What Parents Need to Know

A glance around the park, the mall or the classroom confirms what statistics say: the incidence of childhood obesity is on the rise. The prevalence of overweight children, ages 6 to 11, has doubled in the last two decades. For teens, incidence has tripled.

Rochester, MN (PRWEB) April 15, 2007

A glance around the park, the mall or the classroom confirms what statistics say: the incidence of childhood obesity (http://mayoclinic. com/health/childhood-obesity/DS00698) is on the rise. The prevalence of overweight children, ages 6 to 11, has doubled in the last two decades. For teens, incidence has tripled.

MayoClinic. com has launched a new, in-depth section that covers this trend and the long-term health implications for overweight youngsters. Obesity in children has the same root cause as obesity in adults: consuming too many calories and not exercising enough. But determining if a child's weight is a health concern might take more than a look at the waistline, and solutions might not include traditional dieting.

Highlights of the section, which has been reviewed by Mayo Clinic specialists in children's health and weight management, include:

Diagnosis (http://mayoclinic. com/health/childhood-obesity/DS00698/DSECTION=5): Calculating a child's body mass index (http://mayoclinic. com/health/bmi-calculator/NU00597) is one tool to diagnose a weight problem, but it doesn't take into account the child's growth, development or body frame size. A child's activity level and eating habits are part of the mix, too. Concerned parents should seek medical advice to determine when excess weight might pose a health risk.

Health risks: An overweight child often has to deal with taunts from peers. But there are long-term health risks as well. Obesity at a young age can lead to diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma complications and other health concerns.

Treatment options (http://mayoclinic. com/health/childhood-obesity/DS00698/DSECTION=7): For a young overweight child, maintaining current weight can be an appropriate strategy, while allowing the child to grow into the appropriate weight. For others, losing weight may be necessary. Weight-loss medications and surgery are rarely recommended for youth, even for teens.

Prevention (http://mayoclinic. com/health/childhood-obesity/DS00698/DSECTION=8): Physical activity is a key component of weight management for children. Parents should emphasize varied, fun activities that get children moving. (Don't call it exercise!) Limiting time in front of a television or computer screen each day leaves time for more active pursuits. Banning foods probably isn't the answer and neither are power struggles over what to eat or not eat.

HRmarketer. com Optimistic about the HR Marketplace But Downgrades Its Health Rating

HRmarketer. com, the no. 1 marketing and media visibility service in the human capital industry, released its latest HRintelligence Trend Report identifying the companies and topics receiving the most media attention in the month of August, as well as the top advertisers and the overall health of the human capital marketplace.

(PRWEB) September 26, 2005

Capitola, CA - September 23, 2005 - HRmarketer. com, the no. 1 marketing and media visibility service in the human capital industry (http://www. hrmarketer. com/home/index. htm), released its latest HRintelligence Trend Report identifying the companies and topics receiving the most media attention in the month of August, as well as the top advertisers and the overall health of the human capital marketplace.

The HRmarketer Trend Report (http://www. hrmarketer. com/home/hri. htm) downgraded its rating from "Great" to "Good" because there was not enough compelling growth news in the HR marketplace to keep the rating at "Great" – as it has for the last five months. The consensus among dozens of HR suppliers is that sales are good but flat.

However, HRmarketer remains “bullish” on the space. In the just over three years of providing the industry's only online marketing and PR service for HR service providers, August was the fourth best ever month of new sales for HRmarketer, which indicates HR suppliers are feeling optimistic and confident about the marketplace and are investing more in their marketing and PR efforts.

Companies receiving the most media attention in the human resource industry trades during August included Aon, Employee Benefit Research Institute, Hewitt Associates, IBM, Mercer Human Resource Consulting, Motorola, National Business Group on Health, SHRM, and Watson Wyatt.

Top advertisers in the HR trades for August were Aetna, Aflac, Employease, LA Times, MetLife, Private Healthcare Systems, Recruitmax, SPECTRUM Human Resource Systems, and Visa.

Human resource topics receiving significant coverage across the HR trades in August included health care costs and how employees are carrying more of the burden; the challenges companies face that provide retirement plans; the value of high-performance learning organizations; investing in HR infrastructure; and the importance of recruiting, hiring and retaining top talent.

HRmarketer. com members may access advertising and media placement details on over 4,000 HR suppliers.

New Year's Resolutions Achieved-Guaranteed

New Year's Resolutions Achieved-Guaranteed

Deliberate Living, a life coaching practice, offers a money back guarantee to achieving New Year's resolutions. If clients follow plans and implement strategies developed through the individual coaching programs, their goals are guaranteed.

Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) December 29, 2005

Deliberate Living, a life coaching practice, is now offering a money back guarantee to help clients achieve their New Year’s resolutions. Jennifer Viemont, president of Deliberate Living explains, “People often fail to make and implement manageable plans to achieve their resolutions. My programs offer direction, support, accountability, strategies, and skills so they can make their resolutions a reality. I guarantee that if clients implement the plans we develop, they will reach their goals.”

Research has shown that more than 70 percent of people are not able to maintain the resolutions they make. Some people seem to think that by simply having the resolution it will come true. Others implement so many strategies to achieve the resolution that they become overwhelmed and give up within a few months. The programs at Deliberate Living help clients make goals of their resolutions, quantify the goals, and develop objectives and strategies to achieve the goals. Clients are held accountable for implementation throughout the program. If clients implement the strategies developed in coaching and do not achieve their resolutions, Deliberate Living will refund their money.

Deliberate Living utilizes a coaching gym as the modality for services. The coaching gym functions similar to a regular fitness gym in that clients can buy a membership and use the gym “equipment” while the gym is open. The coaching gym’s equipment includes structured e-mail weekly email logs, unlimited email support and telephone coaching. The combination allows clients to evaluate their weekly progress towards goals, develop strategies to overcome obstacles to those goals, investigate insights and set commitments for the following week. Deliberate Living offers goal-directed and solution focused programs that specialize in helping clients meet their relationship goals or make other positive changes in their lives.

Jennifer Viemont received her Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Loyola University Chicago and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She received her life coach training at the Institute for Life Coach Training and is a member of Coachville and the International Coaching Federation. She has also been quoted in the Raleigh-Durham News and Observer, a msn. com article, and Women’s Health and Fitness Magazine. Jennifer can be contacted with questions at 919-329-2782

Small Businesses with PEOs’ ‘Cafeteria Plans’ Give Employees Incentive to Seek Healthcare When Needed

Small Businesses with PEOs’ ‘Cafeteria Plans’ Give Employees Incentive to Seek Healthcare When Needed

Small businesses can give their employees an incentive to seek medical care and purchase prescription drugs and over-the-counter (OTC) remedies, even with the trend toward higher deductibles, according to experts at the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations(NAPEO). Those businesses that work with professional employer organizations(PEOs)can use “125 cafeteria plans,” which provide a tax advantage for employees who meet their healthcare costs with pre-tax dollars.

Alexandria, Va. (PRWEB) November 23, 2005

Small businesses can give their employees an incentive to seek medical care and purchase prescription drugs and over-the-counter (OTC) remedies, even with the trend toward higher deductibles, according to experts at the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations (http://www. napeo. org) (NAPEO). Those businesses that work with professional employer organizations (http://www. napeo. org) (PEOs) can use “125 cafeteria plans,” which provide a tax advantage for employees who meet their healthcare costs (http://www. napeo. org/peoindustry/pr_111704.cfm) with pre-tax dollars.

While cafeteria plans will not stem the cost of healthcare and insurance, they will help employees offset these costs by lowering their taxable income each year and enabling them to be reimbursed with pre-tax dollars for eligible out-of-pocket medical expenses. That could make it easier for employees to seek the care they need, rather than defer it as 40 percent say they are doing now.*

Under the IRS Code Section 125 that defines cafeteria plans, employees can elect to regularly deduct nontaxable health benefit costs they’ve agreed to cover, thus reducing their taxable income. Most PEOs have established a cafeteria plan for the workers at their small-business work sites. It is only through a PEO (http://www. napeo. org) that most workers at small businesses have access to quality benefit plans such as 125 cafeteria plans. Without the PEO, most small businesses lack the expertise to establish and administer such a program.

“This is a tremendous service to small-business owners and a major benefit to workers,” said Milan P. Yager, executive vice president of NAPEO. “The PEO’s cafeteria plan gives small businesses and their employees a big-business benefit and may encourage employees to seek the care they need, when they need it.”

Employers also can establish a “flexible spending account” (FSA). An FSA allows employees to set aside money from their pay before taxes are withheld, thereby reducing federal income and social security taxes. The healthcare account reimburses the employee for healthcare expenses not covered or only partly covered by medical and dental plans. The employee submits a reimbursement form and receipt for an eligible expense after paying for it.

Administration of a cafeteria plan could boggle the mind of the small-business owner. The PEO can provide the expertise and systems to make this plan a reality for the nearly 23 million small businesses in America today – good news for their workers beset with rising medical costs. “Most Americans like working on Main Street,” Yager commented, “but desire the benefits offered on Wall Street.”

San Francisco Software Group Provides Solution for Bay Bridge Commuter Crisis

San Francisco Software Group Provides Solution for Bay Bridge Commuter Crisis

Teletrips - the leading provider of web-based tools for Intelligent Work Environment planning, administration, monitoring and reporting - is pleased to announce the release of its newest telework preparedness web-based tool, My Response. My Response allows individuals to assess and respond to their personal risk levels should they be required to telework, working from home or distributed work centers, if they are temporarily unable to report to their normal place of work during a crisis situation like the Bay Bridge commuter crisis.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) October 29, 2009

The Bay Bridge closure is a business issue - adversely affecting business operations and 270,000 commuters in the Bay Area. Uncertainty of reopening compounds the impact on Bay Area businesses and the stress it puts on the local commuters. While employers have a clear responsibility to support employees and mitigate risks associated with business disruption, there is general agreement that very few organizations are ready to deal with the direct and indirect consequences of a widespread business disruption.

Ian Gover, President & CEO of Teletrips says, "public and private sector organizations around the world are struggling through the risk assessment and action planning processes and the majority do not have the tools in place to manage operations / communications in the event of a crisis situation. Because of this, it falls on employees to take their own initiative." Gover went on to say, "Recognizing this gap, Teletrips developed a free, web-based tool that allows individual employees to take action by assessing their level of risk and developing a personalized action plan to mitigate that risk should they be required to work from home in an emergency".

By registering for My Response (http://my-response. com), individuals are taking the first steps in understanding their individual business continuity risks and pledging to take action to insulate themselves and their organizations.

About Teletrips: Teletrips (http://www. teletrips. com) is the leading provider of web-based tools that help organizations optimize their triple bottom line performance through the Intelligent Workplace. By leveraging our software as a service tools our customers are positioned to realize millions in operational savings, improve employee effectiveness and substantially enhance environmental efficiency - what we refer to as the triple bottom line of the Intelligent Workplace.

Well over 100 million people worldwide would actually be better supported by a more flexible work model. This work-shift would trigger combined savings of roughly $1 trillion annually for employees, their employers, and government agencies responsible for transportation, environment, and health. It would also cut 100-300 million tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and result in significant reductions in rush hour traffic, congestion, and vehicle miles traveled.

Digital Signature Solution From ARX Achieves RSA Secured® Partner Program Certification

Digital Signature Solution From ARX Achieves RSA Secured® Partner Program Certification

ARX joins the RSA Secured Partner Program, providing joint customers with enhanced security.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) September 3, 2008

ARX, the leading provider of digital signature solutions (http://www. arx. com/digital-signatures-faq. php), announced today that it has joined the RSA Secured partner program, certifying interoperability between its CoSign Digital Signatures and the RSA SecurID® two-factor authentication solution developed by RSA, The Security Division of EMC (NYSE: EMC). ARX and RSA can now provide joint customers with an interoperable solution composed of a convenient and standard digital signature solution with strong authentication - providing the benefit of an additional layer of security for digital signatures.

Interoperability with RSA SecurID two-factor authentication is designed to enhance the existing CoSign digital signature (http://www. arx. com/products/cosign-digital-signatures. php) (standard electronic signature) signer-authentication schemes. The RSA SecurID system is as simple to use as entering a password, but significantly more secure. Used in conjunction with RSA® Authentication Manager software, an RSA SecurID authenticator functions like an ATM card for a company network, requiring users to identify themselves with two unique factors -- something they know (a password or PIN), and something they have (an RSA SecurID hardware or software authenticator) -- before they are granted access to secure business information.

"ARX selected RSA SecurID, in part, because of the appeal of its interoperability with a broad number of platforms and technologies to customers," said John Marchioni, VP Business Development, Americas, ARX. "Since CoSign does not require ARX-signature-software installations on the user's PC, RSA SecurID is an ideal complement that further supports CoSign's centralized-management design."

"It is more critical than ever for companies to increase the security and integrity of their valuable information. In order to help our joint customers better protect their information, we are pleased to be working with ARX to achieve interoperability between RSA SecurID technology and the CoSign digital signature solution," said D. J. Long, Senior Director, Corporate Development at RSA. "Our organizations are committed to help mitigate risk to sensitive information throughout its lifecycle to ensure that it is always an asset and not a liability, allowing organizations to focus on accelerating their business objectives."
