Taking It to the Streets: National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month Begins July 1

Taking It to the Streets: National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month Begins July 1

NAMI Highlights Surgeon General’s Concerns

Arlington, VA (PRWEB) June 28, 2010

National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month begins Thursday, July 1, coinciding with the annual convention of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI (http://www. nami. org/)) in Washington, D. C.

NAMI’s Multicultural Action Center (http://www. nami. org/Template. cfm? Section=Multicultural_Support&Template=/TaggedPage/TaggedPageDisplay. cfm&TPLID=56&ContentID=25443) and 2010 NAMI Convention are important hubs for multicultural concerns, building on the U. S. Surgeon General’s landmark report on Mental Health: Culture, Race and Ethnicity (http://www. surgeongeneral. gov/library/mentalhealth/cre/).

“Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (https://namimail. nami. org/exchweb/bin/redir. asp? URL=http://www. nami. org/minoritymentalhealthmonth) is a time for education, support and advocacy,” said NAMI Executive Director Michael Fitzpatrick. “One in four Americans experience mental health problems in any given year. Diverse communities are no exception.”

Minority Mental Health Awareness Month (https://namimail. nami. org/exchweb/bin/redir. asp? URL=http://www. nami. org/minoritymentalhealthmonth) officially honors Bebe Moore Campbell, one of the leading African American writers of the 20th century, who died in 2006. She was a NAMI national spokesperson, co-founder of NAMI Urban Los Angeles and an instructor in NAMI’s Family-to-Family education program.

The Surgeon General has warned that minorities:
are less likely to receive diagnosis and treatment for mental illness have less availability and access to mental health services often receive poorer quality health care are underrepresented in mental health research.

The 2010 NAMI Convention offers symposia and workshops that energize participants for action in their home communities:

Friday, July 2

Integrating Mental Health in Primary Care (10:45 a. m.)

People with mental illnesses die on average 25 years earlier than other Americans. For minority communities, shortages of mental health professionals and limited access to quality mental health care makes integration of mental health in primary care especially urgent.

Multicultural Mental Health Research (2:00 p. m.)

Research must include cultural competence, disparities and ethnopsychopharmacology.

Taking It to the Streets: Advocacy in Minority Communities (3:45 p. m.)

NAMI will review Minority Mental Health Awareness Month accomplishments during the past two years and brainstorm new activities.

Saturday, July 3

Spiritual Practice and Recovery (8:45 a. m.)

Spirituality is often a component recovery, including roles for African American congregations, zazen, centering prayer and Native American spirituality.

Approaches to Recovery in Underserved Urban Areas (8:45 a. m.)

Outreach and support to underserved populations in urban areas are critical during the severe economic hardship, uncertainty and increased need of current times.
About NAMI
NAMI is the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and families affected by mental illness. NAMI has over 1100 state and local affiliates that engage in research, education, support and advocacy.

Parity Reflects on the IT Spending Outlook for 2006

Parity Reflects on the IT Spending Outlook for 2006

Parity takes a look at the new skills landscape in IT Management and the impact on future skills.

(PRWEB) March 23, 2006

The outlook for IT spending is expected to be fairly conservative for 2006 (source: Forrester Research). This is because, say Forrester, IT departments are now expected to support business goals more efficiently than they have done in the past. A greater prioritisation on the business and less on new investments in IT will see just a 1.6% increase in IT spending this year for European enterprises.

The skills landscape is changing, say Parity, with fewer technicians required and greater demand for business roles such as those that have PRINCE2 and ISEB qualifications. Clearly this shift has a major impact on education, internal training departments and recruitment.

“The new skills landscape has been apparent to the Parity Group for some time”, says David Plummer, Managing Director at Parity Resources. The shift in demand for project management and program management training (http://www. parity. net/training/courses/_/project-managment-training (http://www. parity. net/training/courses/_/project-managment-training)) and for the ISEB training in IT Service Management (http://www. parity. net/training/courses/_/IT-service-management (http://www. parity. net/training/courses/_/IT-service-management)) plus year on year increases in demand on recruitment right across the UK of these job roles supports the rationale behind a cautious IT spending outlook.

The theory that the education system will take too long to meet demands for IT/business analysts, IT architecture specialists, project managers and vendor managers - skills that firms expect to need in greater numbers in the future - is looking to be a reality unless firms themselves invest in developing the skills necessary to meet the needs of the business. Standard ‘best practice’ approaches and ‘frameworks’, and a good set of underlying business skills are vital in today’s business environment.

Leash-Training Man's Other Best Friend? The Cat is Finally Out of the Bag

Leash-Training Man's Other Best Friend? The Cat is Finally Out of the Bag

Just released, "Walk Your Cat: The Complete Guide" is the first full-length book to take a serious look at the subject of training cats to walk on a leash. The book shows how leash-training cats can be understood in terms of the many, and sometimes quirky aspects of feline social behavior. "Walk Your Cat" includes valuable tips on everything from choosing a leash to controlling and directing cats during walks. Along the way, it also provides a fascinating look at cat psychology.

Blacksburg, VA (PRWEB) January 6, 2009

"Walk Your Cat: The Complete Guide" is the first full-length book to take a serious look at the subject of training cats to walk on a leash. By getting to the heart of feline behavior, the authors, Steven Jacobson and Jean Miller, explain how and why cats can be leash-trained and why it helps keep them healthy and happy.

Walking cats might be a surprising topic to some. Yet, according to "Walk Your Cat", the activity plays a unique and important role in the lives of modern domestic cats. Indoor cats are prone to boredom, depression and obesity. Owners who leash-train their cats now have an easy and effective way to avoid such problems.

Animal-welfare groups widely advocate keeping cats indoors. Take, for example, the Humane Society of America's Safe Cats™ campaign, which aims to teach cat owners about disease, poison, traffic and other outdoor dangers. Such campaigns face resistance from many owners, who find it unnatural for cats to be kept indoors. These owners have felt the need to weigh their concern for their cats' safety against what they consider a natural life for their cats.

By offering a comprehensive look at all aspects of leash-training cats, the authors hope to convince owners that they can keep their cats safely indoors and still provide them with all the mental and physical stimulation that outdoor cats get. Persuading people to walk their cats is a challenge, admit the authors. Since cats are notoriously independent, it is often assumed that -- unlike dogs -- they cannot be leash-trained. But the authors explain that walking cats needs to be understood in terms of the many, and sometimes quirky, facets of feline social behavior.

Once owners have this knowledge -- provided in the book -- leash training is simple to master. "Walk Your Cat" includes valuable tips on everything from choosing a leash (some styles are unsuitable) to controlling and directing cats during walks. Along the way, it also provides a fascinating look at cat psychology. Excerpts from the book can be downloaded at www. walkyourcat. com/downloads. html (http://www. walkyourcat. com/downloads. html). Premature Births on the Rise

Premature Births on the Rise

Assisted reproductive technologies and the increasing average age of mothers giving birth is causing an increasing number of premature births.

Waltham, Massachusetts (PRWEB) July 24, 2007

Millennium Research Group (MRG) has conducted a detailed analysis of the neonatal and perinatal device market in its US Market Opportunities in Neonatal/Perinatal Monitoring 2007 report. The analysis reveals that a growing trend of women using assisted reproductive technologies such as in-vitro fertilization, combined with the increasing average age of mothers giving birth, will lead to more premature births.

Due to the growing rate of these premature births that will be characterized by low birth weight, more perinatal and neonatal devices will be needed in hospitals. Incubators, warmers, monitoring devices, and ventilators are being used more than ever to help newborns survive during the critical early stages of life.

"The large focus of resources towards neonatal care in hospitals combined with the large volume of births that occur in the US annually, will drive the markets for neonatal and perinatal devices," says Ryan Goren, Analyst at MRG. "The health status of newborns is among the highest levels of priority in hospitals in the US and as a result, this will ensure that modern devices continue to be purchased in the future."

US Market Opportunities in Neonatal/Perinatal Monitoring 2007 report includes coverage of industry competitors, including Atom Medical, Dräger Medical, Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, GE Healthcare, Huntleigh Healthcare, MAQUET, Philips Medical Systems, Puritan Bennett, Spacelabs Medical, and VIASYS Healthcare.

Author Says Patients and Doctors Need Work On Communications Skills

Author Says Patients and Doctors Need Work On Communications Skills

Florida author Kay Day says both patients and doctors need to learn how to talk to one another. Doing so increases chances for success in both healing and cost-savings.

Jacksonville, FL (PRWEB) August 11, 2005

As Florida author Kay Day wrote the book Killing Earl (Ocean Publishing, June, 2005), she realized that communication between patient and physician can be a challenge for both. She learned that lack of communications can be a barrier to a timely diagnosis and can also increase treatment costs.

“Our daughter Becky was 12 years old,” says Day. “No one knew what was wrong with her. I believe it took longer to figure it out and the costs were higher because of communications.”

The author watched her daughter try to talk to the doctor, and realized that both of them had a problem. “The doctor would fire questions at her and Becky would just stumble over the answers,” said Day. “When I’d pick up her records later, I’d see information that hadn’t been fully explained. Sometimes I’d realize the test she’d just undergone didn’t help.”

Day says the Internet was a valuable tool. “A pre-teen isn’t exactly equipped to deal with all aspects of testing, imaging, and examinations—decisions about what to agree to,” she says. “So a parent or guardian has to be informed.”

“You’d be amazed at what you learn when you are politely assertive and ask questions,” says the author. “And clear information can often make the patient more comfortable. I learned to ask questions of every member of the healthcare team. I learned to speak to the doctors and nurses with an information-based approach. Just as important is talking to your pharmacist--this professional is often overlooked by the patient as a resource. I learned it’s okay to ask about risks from medications. Those are a few reasons our daughter was cured.”

Day says that for several years, groups such as the American College of Physicians have emphasized talking to patients and improving skills to that end. “I don’t think they can deliver that message enough,” she says, “regardless of the patient’s age.”

Day wrote Killing Earl because her daughter asked her to. “Earl” was the name Becky used to refer to her pain. “I hope nobody has to deal with an Earl,” Becky says.

Day is on a “ten city plus” book tour for her new memoir. She is blogging the tour on the Net at Bookbeat (http://bookbeat. blogspot. com (http://bookbeat. blogspot. com)). She has visited South Carolina, with early stops at both independent and chain stores in Miami, Fernandina Beach, and Savannah. Pre-launch events were held in her home city, Jacksonville, Florida. The author will visit a number of additional cities in fall and winter, including a featured author spot at the Florida Council of Teachers of English conference in Orlando. The book's introduction is written by one of America's most distinguished physicians, John V. Campo, M. D.

“One message I’m offering is aimed at the physician,” Day explains. “Doctors need to listen better.” She adds, “And patients need to be informed.” Patients may visit Day’s Net site, kayday. com, for information and tips.

Top 10 Healthy Skincare & Beauty Habits

Top 10 Healthy Skincare & Beauty Habits

Having healthy skin goes beyond applying good skincare products. It takes some healthful practices, too. Here are 10 habits that protect and nourish skin that are best not to ignore.

Rancho Cordova, CA (PRWEB) February 16, 2010

A person’s skin doesn’t just require effective formulas; it also needs nourishing habits. So while anyone can work hard to have healthy skin by applying top-notch products, neglecting a few vital habits can result in imbalanced skincare. Learn how to adopt a well-rounded approach to skincare with this excerpt from Skincare-News. com’s latest article, “10 Healthy Skincare Habits You Might Be Forgetting.”

1. Keep products in the proper place. Choosing the right place to store beauty products is key to preserving them. Put products in the wrong place and they can grow bacteria, mold and yeast. Avoid keeping makeup and skincare formulas (with vitamin C, for instance) in the bathroom, car or another temperature-volatile place. Instead, stash them away from heat and light. The best place to store skincare and beauty products? In a cool, dry location – and tightly sealed.

2. Find skin-boosting nutrients in food. Whatever is great for a person’s health is great for skin as well. Some foods can help skin look radiant, fight free radicals and help it function better overall. Sweet potatoes, along with tomatoes and cantaloupe, replenish antioxidants so they can gobble up free radicals. Vitamin C, which can be derived from oranges, lemons and grapefruit, is pivotal for collagen production.

Vitamin A-rich veggies such as spinach and broccoli aid with cell production and cell turnover for smoother skin. Without enough vitamin A, skin becomes dry and scaly. Salmon, tuna and trout, among other fish, are packed with omega-3 fatty acids, which tackle inflammation.

Plus, protein-packed foods like poultry and pork contain zinc and iron. Zinc aids cell synthesis and exfoliation, so skin doesn’t look dull.

3. Practice the 3-minute rule. Having hydrated skin is key to having healthy skin. But people may not be getting the full benefits with their hydrator. Be sure to moisturize within three minutes of washing, showering or bathing – when skin is damp – because this helps to lock in moisture. In fact, it’s a common misconception that moisturizers hydrate the skin. To the contrary, moisturizers lock in skin’s own moisture, notes the American Academy of Dermatology. So hydrating skin when it’s dry is largely unhelpful.

Black Gay Magazine Premieres in Atlanta

Black Gay Magazine Premieres in Atlanta

Noble magazine is now the sole GLBT publication in Atlanta that targets the African American and Latino gay communities.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 1, 2006

For the huge Labor Day Black Gay Pride weekend, Atlanta's Gay and Lesbian population will be treated to a new magazine that serves the African American and Latino Gay and Lesbian communities.

"I could not believe that there was no publication in Atlanta that served the African American and Latino GLBT communities (Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender). The entire country is well aware of the large number of African American Gays and Lesbians in Atlanta. In many states, Atlanta is considered the 'Black Gay Mecca,'" said Eric Gilbert, founder and investor in RMI Publications Inc, a 10 year old publishing company established in Los Angeles, CA. RMI Publishing specializes in niche publications.

Noble is Gilbert's latest venture. The publication premiered three years ago originally but Gilbert admits he and his staff were not familiar enough with the market at the time. We had an immediate offer from a publication that served the white gay community to become an insert in their publication but we didn't think that was a good idea. Hindsight, it was a great idea but you live and learn and also realize that everything and I mean everything happens for reason!" Gilbert laughs.

Noble will be a fun-filled humorous publication that covers entertainment, media, fashion, real estate, health and the publication has several event tie-ins with local black gay clubs, sponsors and organizations.

The African American Gay and Lesbian reader has an average income range of $58,000 per year. This is often expendable income and this is a great opportunity for advertisers to reach an under-served market.

Sani-Seat Passes 3,000 Placements In North America

Sani-Seat (http://www. CleanSeats. Com/), the only 100% hands-free hygienic toilet seat system, has reached 3,000 placements within the United States. Doctors, hospitals, restaurants, casinos, plus government, educational and other public facilities are realizing the health and economic benefits of providing hands-free, hygiene friendly restrooms for their customers and employees.

ASBURY PARK, NJ (PRWEB) June 25, 2004

Sani-Seat (http://www. CleanSeats. Com/ (http://www. CleanSeats. Com/)), the only 100% hands-free hygienic toilet seat system, has reached 3,000 placements within the United States. Doctors, hospitals, restaurants, casinos, plus government, educational and other public facilities are realizing the health and economic benefits of providing hands-free, hygiene friendly restrooms for their customers and employees.

"Since most bathroom contact takes place at the toilet seat, it's only natural that organizations adopt a better solution than paper protection, which provides no protection at all," explains Jerold Wagenheim, Vice President of North American Hygiene, Inc. "The Sani-Seat's automated moving plastic cover eliminates and protects users from the majority of germs and bacteria that would normally be found on a traditional public toilet seat."

Along with creating a hands-free sanitary restroom experience for the user, Sani-Seat also delivers to facility managers a cost effective solution to the "messy bathroom" syndrome. While saving money on wasted water and paper products, the Sani-Seat also reduces the plumbing problems normally found in public restrooms.

About North American Hygiene, Inc.

North American Hygiene, Inc., through their international network of dealers, exclusively supplies and services the Sani-Seat hands-free hygienic toilet seat protection system. With the simple wave of a hand, the Sani-Seat presents a fresh, clean, untouched hygienic surface for each use. Sani-Seat is a complete and easy replacement for any existing standard toilet seat, making installation quick and simple for anyone.

World Vision Urges Congress to Reauthorize Aids Relief Plan

World Vision Urges Congress to Reauthorize Aids Relief Plan

Delay would cost lives of patients, orphans and vulnerable children.

Washington, D. C. (PRWEB) December 11, 2007

Voting to extend the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief is vital to keep from losing pace in the fight against HIV and AIDS in hard-hit nations, a World Vision advocate told U. S. senators at a hearing today.

The international Christian humanitarian agency World Vision strongly supports reauthorization of the United States Leadership Against HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria Act of 2003. The law, which expires in Sept. 2008, funded the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) with a total commitment of more than $15 billion for AIDS prevention, treatment and care. President George W. Bush is asking Congress to reauthorize PEPFAR and double that funding for the next five years.

“Congress must act on this legislation quickly to ensure continuation of the live-saving global AIDS programs it funds,” Princess Zulu, a Zambian AIDS educator and advocate with World Vision, told a hearing of the Senate Health, Education Labor and Pensions Committee today. “We also support the continued requirement that at least 10 percent of all resources in this Act are directed to the care of orphans and vulnerable children.”

AIDS has already orphaned 15 million children worldwide.

If signed into law, the increase would fully fund the bilateral AIDS programs administered by the U. S. State Department in 15 of the world’s most-affected countries.

World Vision, a Christian relief and development organization operating in nearly 100 countries, specializes in child-focused, community-based programs to alleviate the root causes of poverty and injustice. The agency began its work to stem the impact of HIV and AIDS two decades ago in Rakai, Uganda, the pandemic’s epicenter. World Vision now has AIDS prevention and care work in 60 countries.

“Congress must also ensure that adequate resources are provided so the United States can hold up its end of the bargain when all G8 leaders promised in 2005 to provide universal access to AIDS treatment, prevention, and care by 2010,” Zulu told lawmakers including the committee chairman, Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

C. A.R. E. Announces First 2010 Family Weekend

C. A.R. E. Announces First 2010 Family Weekend

After a successful trial last year C. A.R. E. Florida drug rehab will be re-instituting their Family Weekend Program again this year. The Family Weekend Program helps the families of addicts help the addicts, while being educated on the realities of what their loved ones are going through.

North Palm Beach, FL (PRWEB) January 25, 2010

C. A.R. E. Florida today announced the first Family Weekend of 2010, designed to help families bond with their family members in C. A.R. E.'s addiction treatment programs (http://www. careflorida. com/addiction-treatment. html) and learn healthy ways to help their family member once they finish their treatment.

The Center for Disease Control estimates that 50 percent of US adults are current regular drinkers, having 12 drinks or more in a year and the National Institutes of Health states that there are over 17.6 million alcoholics in the US. Many factors, including family, can influence alcoholism, and a recovering alcoholic's chance at survival. Family Weekends are designed to provide addicts and their families a chance to bond, adjust, and cope with life in and outside of rehab. The first 2010 Family Weekend will be held 1-28-10.

Dr. Mitch Wallick, states "While the addicts themselves emerge from treatment equipped with tools to overcome their addictions, many family members are still conditioned to addictive behaviors. For many addicts, the outside world hasn't changed since they entered into a drug or alcohol rehab program (http://www. careflorida. com/alcoholism-treatment-program. html), and conditioning family members to accept and support the changes in the addict and their lives is central to a former addict's success."

The first 2010 Family Weekend will offer many chances for family members to bond, ask questions, and discover how to help their loved one, and C. A.R. E. Florida therapists are on hand to offer advice and tips for how to best help the recovering addict such as:
The addict is responsible for their recovery. Your role as a family member is to guide and support an addict during the addiction recovery process, but ultimately, family members cannot control the post-treatment recovery.

Support, but don't suffocate. Addiction recovery (http://www. careflorida. com/) is the responsibility of the addict. Their busy schedule of meetings, therapy appointments, work, and everyday life occurrences may cause the addict to seem overwhelmed, never home, or remote. Show support and trust, but don't overwhelm your family member with questions and cause them to feel as if they are being suffocated or not trusted.

Be normal. Your life should continue as it did before your family member returned. Don't walk on eggshells around them, and treat them as you would any other family member. It is the addict's responsibility to take care of themselves, and making dramatic changes to your lifestyle may cause your family member to feel guilty, or like an outcast.

Be aware of your emotions. Alcohol or Drug Addiction (http://www. careflorida. com/drug-rehab. html) affects family members just as it affects friends and other significant people in an addict's life. Allow yourself, and your family members, to express their emotions. Many family members of recovering addicts benefit from going to meetings such as Al-Anon, Al-Ateen, Narconon, etc. Make it a priority to deal with your feelings about your family member's addiction accordingly and in a healthy manner

C. A.R. E Florida will offer Family Weekends four times a year, and encourages family members of current and past patients to attend and take part in the intensive therapeutic and educational activities.

If you are someone you love could benefit from treatment please visit www. careflorida. com. For press inquiries please use the contact form at www. careflorida. com and you will be responded to immediately.

Customers Praise Ceridian’s Service and Support

Customers Praise Ceridian’s Service and Support

Customer comments highlight Ceridian’s Account Executive programs and Service Centers of Excellence

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) August 24, 2009

Ceridian (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6a) Corporation, a leading provider of managed human resource (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6b), employee benefits administration (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6c), tax filing (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6d) and payroll outsourcing (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6e) solutions, continues to receive numerous accolades regarding its customer service (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6f) solutions. During INSIGHTS 2009, Ceridian’s annual customer conference recently held in Denver, Colorado, many attendees praised Ceridian’s account executive program and Service Centers of Excellence (COE).

“In terms of enviable customer service, Ceridian has presented us with two representatives that serve us well,” commented Pat Cuejilo, an application specialist with Waddell & Reed Financial Services. Cuejilo was referring to Waddell & Reed’s dedicated account executive, and its call center service representatives.

All of Ceridian’s customers enjoy the support of a dedicated account executive (AE). Ceridian AEs periodically meet with Ceridian customers and strive to understand their company and how Ceridian’s solutions provide value to their business. Ceridian’s AEs are human resource (HR) professionals who understand the industry and know where to turn in order to get the sometimes detailed, in-depth answers customers require.

“One of the things I really enjoy about Ceridian is the customer support, particularly from our account executive,” notes Yvonne Lutz, HR director for the Scoular Company. “The first thing she did was come out and meet with us, review our products, really learned about our business and talked about some other things that might be of assistance to us.”

Ceridian’s account executives also provide customers with valuable HR expertise, a sense of best practices, competitive benchmarking information, a broad perspective on HR solutions, and most importantly support for Ceridian’s products and how they are currently being used by their customers. “One of the things we enjoy is the interaction with our Ceridian account executive,” comments Dale Fleddermann, senior HRIS analyst with CoBank. “She visits our office at least once a month. And she does a great job of bird dogging issues we might have. If there's a problem, a functionality that's not working the way we need it to, she makes sure we get in touch with the right people, the correct Ceridian experts who can really resolve our issues.”

Over the past two years Ceridian has also implemented powerful changes in the way it provides customers with customer care support, including the use of call center technology that has significantly accelerated response times and that makes it possible to assign the most knowledgeable service representative to respond to customer issues. “That's the kind of thing that makes me stay with Ceridian, that the support is so much better,” explains Chris Scott, senior HRIS analyst with Aviva, when comparing Ceridian’s level of service support with other companies. When Aviva uses Ceridian’s support they feel “you can just have such a close relationship that you forget it's the vendor.”

“From time-to-time, I have to contact Ceridian customer service with questions,” comments Betty Rifford, corporate payroll coordinator for Huhtamaki Americas. “And they are very good about getting right back with you. If that person isn't sure of the answer, they go to level two. And we find that we have very good feedback with them.”

“I do enjoy the interaction that I have with the Ceridian customer service department,” concludes Leah Johnson, payroll manager, Gerresheimer Glass. “We do have to use them frequently and they're very helpful, the entire department.”

Ceridian’s customers are praising the company’s approach to providing the industry’s finest customer service and support. “I've actually had a lot of experience with Ceridian service,” explains Chris Scott. “When you get down to comparing products, everybody has their strengths and weaknesses. I can tell you … the service is why I've actually been more loyal to Ceridian than other products I've used.”

“I've been with … competitors of Ceridian,” concludes Julie Bridwell, payroll manager, Tire Centers, LLC. “And the service is not the same.”

Interested readers can find more customer comments –- written and in video format –- by visiting Ceridian’s enviable service (http://www. ceridian. com/293pr6g) Web page.

MEC Labs gives online marketers a five-month blueprint to maximize revenues during the year’s busiest buying season.

Atlantic Beach, FL (PRWEB) August 4, 2006

While parents stretch their budgets this month for back-to-school supplies, clothes and accessories, retailers and marketing professionals are already preparing to make “Holiday Season 2006” the most profitable buying period yet. To help marketers’ planning efforts, MarketingExperiments. com (MEC) has created and will present a five-month merchandising blueprint and calendar in a free Web clinic titled “MEC Merchandising Calendar for the Fall and Holiday Season 2006” to be held Wednesday August 9, 2006 at 4:00 p. m. EST.

“Recent studies show that 45 percent of consumers say they will begin their holiday shopping before Thanksgiving and 41 percent say they will be finished with their holiday shopping by early December,” said Nick Usborne, senior editor at MEC. “For marketers this means many consumers will be done with their holiday shopping weeks or months before many companies get into the swing of their holiday season marketing campaigns. This teleconference will help online marketers create a tailored merchandising plan and calendar, breaking tasks down by the months, weeks and days by which they should be accomplished.”

The one-hour teleconference will also cover topics including preparing individual product promotion, testing company platform and technologies to avoid crashes or delays, hiring and training sufficient personnel and creating promotions and pay-per-click campaigns specific to the holiday season.

Those interested in attending the free Web clinic can sign up at https://www. gotomeeting. com/register/515085366 (https://www. gotomeeting. com/register/515085366).

Baby Clothing Website Reaches First Time Parents with New Baby Blog

Baby Clothing Website Reaches First Time Parents with New Baby Blog

Baby-clothes-central. com is a new website designed with first time parents in mind. Website founders Thomas and Brenda Struble, parents of four, have compiled their knowledge on a new blog which offers tips, tricks and advice for couples who are new to parenting.

Manistee, MI (PRWEB) August 5, 2009

"I'm a babysitter part time, and a few weeks ago, a mother dropped off her infant daughter with no change of clothes," said Brenda Struble. "I think she just didn't know, but experienced parents would know that an extra change of clothes is the first thing to bring when leaving the house," added Thomas Struble.

Thomas and Brenda Struble are parents of four, and the founders of www. Baby-Clothes-Central. com.

The Strubles built their new website to address the needs of first time parents who might not be aware of the finer points of infant care. "We designed our website to educate new parents and to provide the right accessories for infant care," said Thomas. "We just have clothing now, but down the road I'd like to expand to offer furnishings like high chairs and cribs."

"I think our organic infant clothing will appeal to a lot of parents," said Brenda. "Like our clothing from Nubius Organics which is made from the best materials, and doesn't contain harmful dyes or chemicals; it's one hundred percent safe."

In order to assist with educating new parents, the Strubles launched a new blog at www. Baby-Clothes-Central-Blog. com.

"On the blog we'll be talking all about baby clothes, covering topics like how to wash and care for clothing, how to make it last and what kinds of clothing a newborn needs," said Thomas. "We'll also be tackling other issues new parents face, like cutting costs on clothing and finding the right sizes," said Brenda.

Above all, the Strubles are invested in helping their customers, and want to share their experiences to promote infant health and wellness. "We want to talk about all that concerns babies, and we also want our customers to feel free to ask us questions," said Brenda. "We've done it all, so there's almost nothing we can't answer between us," added Thomas.

Web Content Management Enables Government Transparency, Participation, and Collaboration Online

Web Content Management Enables Government Transparency, Participation, and Collaboration Online

The U. S Department of Health & Human Services uses Percussion Community Marketing Solution to implement President Obama’s Open Government Directive

Washington, DC (PRWEB) February 10, 2010

The United States Department of Health and Human Services is using Percussion Software’s Web Content Management System and Community Marketing Solution to support President Obama’s Open Government Directive and promote transparency, participation, and collaboration online.

In January, 2009 the President issued a Memorandum on Transparency and Open Government, outlining these three principles for promoting a transparent and open government: transparency, participation, and collaboration.
Transparency promotes accountability by providing the public with information about what the government is doing. Participation allows members of the public to contribute ideas and expertise so that their government can make policies with the benefit of information that is widely dispersed in society. Collaboration improves the effectiveness of government by encouraging partnerships and cooperation within the federal government, across levels of government, and between the government and private institutions.

In December, the Director of the Open Government Initiative followed that mandate with a memorandum to the heads of all executive departments and agencies establishing a deadline for action and setting requirements for satisfying the President’s Open Government agenda. That directive required executive departments to improve the quality and transparency of government information online and include mechanisms by which members of the government can provide feedback on them.

The Department of Health & Human Services launched an area for public feedback and participation at http://www. hhs. gov/open (http://www. hhs. gov/open), satisfying those requirements within the given deadline. HHS. gov/open – built using Percussion’s Community Marketing Solution – allows citizens to:

Interact with HHS officials by reading the Open HHS Blog, commenting on posts, and rating ideas and announcements. Get Involved via Facebook, Twitter, and Youtube, and view lists of official HHS handles for each social network. Stay informed by signing up to receive regular updates via RSS, or embed functionality on their own web pages using HHS widgets. Enjoy open access to HHS data and information via both downloadable and interactive data sets.

“Because the Community Marketing Solution is deployed as a part of the Web Content Management system, it allows social and user-generated content to be managed by business users at HHS and reused with the same degree of control as any other piece of web content, shared across the entire website, and even syndicated to other online channels such,” said Vern Imrich, Percussion’s Chief Technical Officer. "For the visitor, this makes social interaction a seamless experience throughout the entire HHS web presence, rather than a separate capability segregated into an enclosed or co-branded area."

Additionally, citizens visiting the Open HHS area can stay within the Department of Health & Human Services website as opposed to having to go to another website.

“As an organization, Percussion has always tried to be on the forefront of how organizations interact with their customers online. It’s hugely gratifying to be able to help the government become more open, accountable, and social as well.” commented Joe Wykes, President of Percussion. “To see the country’s hunger for the promise of a more transparent government, and to be able to help agencies deliver on that promise, is an exciting thing.”

Vivek Kundra, the Federal Chief Technology Officer, commented on the public’s hunger to participate in an interview with www. ExecutiveGov. com in December. “We can see it translate into action, where people have come in and given us ideas and feedback to improve government. Whether it’s thirty-eight thousand responses within three weeks or thousands of people joining the digital town hall meetings that the President has had, or the thousands upon thousands of people who are contributing to the Data. gov movement across the country, we’re seeing is a huge response and also we’re seeing the private sector stepping up with innovations and business models to help us realize the instructions in the directive itself.”

Other federal departments and agencies using Percussion to power their web presences include the Department of State, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Office of Personnel Management, and the Department of Justice.

Study Shows Natural Lice Treatment Most Effective Journal of the Israel Medical Association (10-02)

Study Shows Natural Lice Treatment Most Effective Journal of the Israel Medical Association (10-02)

A head lice treatment study published in the IMA Journal compares the effects of a permethrin/malathion based formula to a natural essential oil lice treatment on 129 school children. Resistance issues are discussed.

(PRWEB) October 29, 2002

Los Angeles, CA., October 29, 2002: Dr. Kosta Mumcuoglu, a parasitologist at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem and a world renowned expert in the field of head lice study, has published an article about the effectiveness of a natural head lice remedy. The article, published in the October issue of the English-language Journal of the Israel Medical Association, compared the results with a chemical spray containing Malathion.

Mumcuoglu, who has tested 15,000 Israeli children for head lice over the past 15 years, found that the natural remedy, sold in the U. S. as HairClean 1-2-3 Lice Kit, was more effective than the chemical preparation. (website: www. quantumhealth. com)

Mumcuoglu and colleagues from the Jerusalem District Health Office and the Hadassah-University Hospital dermatology department studied 940 children aged six to 14 from six Jerusalem schools. Of these, 21 percent had lice and eggs, and 17% had only nits. Of the 119 children treated, half were given the natural remedy and the rest the chemical spray - three times during a 15-day period. Girls were much more likely to be infested with lice than boys, and younger children aged six to nine more than teenagers.

The natural remedy is composed of coconut oil, anise oil and ylang ylang oil killed lice and nits on 92.3% of the children. The chemical spray's active ingredients are permethrin and Malathion. The spray was effective on 92.2%.

The chemicalÂ’s effectiveness may be attributed to the ingredient Malathion, which is available by prescription only. Permethrin, the other chemical ingredient, has, in many cases, been shown to fail due to lice resistance. Permethrin is found in most drug store head lice products.

Several trials conducted by Professor Terri Meinking of the University Of Miami Medical School preceeded the Israeli study, showing that HairClean 1-2-3 was more effective than products containing permethrin and pyrethrum.

New generations of head lice are becoming resistant to preparations that were previously effective. Thus parents, Mumcuoglu concludes, will welcome the news that the natural remedy can kill lice and nits as well as the chemical preparations and causes no serious side effects.

Consumers can have their lice questions answered by calling 1-877-LICE-877. Full article - Journal of the Israel Medical Association: htm ( htm)

TBG Aims to Further Improve SQL ServerÂ’s Reputation

TBG Aims to Further Improve SQL ServerÂ’s Reputation

Tony Bain Group has announced the availability of their comprehensive SQL Server Health Audit service with intentions of further strengthening SQL Servers market perception

Melbourne, Australia (PRWEB) April 23, 2004

Tony Bain Group has announced the availability of their comprehensive SQL Server Health Audit service with intentions of further strengthening SQL Servers market perception.

“Most organisations have realised the benefits in TCO that SQL Server provides” says Tony Bain Group founder Tony Bain, “however there is still a common misconception that SQL Server is not as reliable, or does not perform as well as some of the more expensive legacy database platforms. Because of this we think many businesses are not migrating their mission critical databases to SQL Server as quickly as they probably should be”.

Tony attributes these misconceptions to frequent poor implementation of Microsoft’s flagship database product. “One of the main benefits of SQL Server has been that it is really easy to design, develop and implement database solutions. Unfortunately this has also proven to be a slight disadvantage as we have seen relatively inexperienced people calling themselves experts and implementing SQL Server without really understanding how to address security, disaster recovery, reliability and performance issues” says Tony. “If these implementations fail, lose data or under perform they are quick to blame the database platform rather than their own poor implementation” he adds.

Further improving the reputation of SQL Server has a direct impact on TBG’s business model. “Our bread and butter is our services that relate to mission critical databases, such as performance optimisation, high availability and disaster recovery. Therefore it is in our best interest to ensure that SQL Server is seen as the robust, scalable platform that it is so everyone feels confident in migrating their most critical databases” says Tony.

To help achieve this Tony Bain Group has made available its SQL Server Health Audit service at the low cost of $500 per server. The audit checks a database server for common issues that result in data loss, security breeches and slow response times. “We aim to do a mass clean up of poor implementations and educate our clients on the requirements necessary to implement SQL Server in a robust, efficient and secure manner” says Tony.

Tony Bain Group is based in Melbourne and provides services to clients nationally. For more information visit www. tonybain. com or call TBG on +61-3-9626-2432.

About Tony Bain: Tony Bain has been involved with SQL Server for many years, as author, trainer, consultant and public speaker. He has written numerous SQL Server books sold internationally including “Professional SQL Server 2000 Data Warehousing with Analysis Services”, “Visual Basic. NET and SQL Server 2000 – Building & Effective Data Layer”, “SQL Server 2000 Stored Procedure Handbook”, “SQL Server 2000 DBA”. Tony is currently writing a SQL Server Yukon book due out in July 2004.

Tony is a regular speaker at technology events including Microsoft Tech Ed in Australia and New Zealand. He has been awarded the Most Valuable Professional award from Microsoft for his expertise in SQL Server and also holds MCSE, MCDBA and MCSD certifications.

Reasons Millions Drop Weight Loss Plan Answered in Sharon Allbright's New Book

Reasons Millions Drop Weight Loss Plan Answered in Sharon Allbright's New Book

Although 18 million Americans report weight loss on the low-carb eating plan, there are three major drawbacks that have caused 25% of dieters to fall-off this popular program.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 11, 2005

Although 18 million Americans report weight loss on the low-carb eating plan, there are three major drawbacks that have caused more than 25% of dieters to fall-off this popular program.

Topping the list is lack of satisfying sweets, not enough fiber-filled comfort foods and the expense of pre-packaged low-carb items. Answering these three grievances is a new book, “Low-Carb Sweets” by Sharon Allbright.

To quell the demands of a “raging sweet tooth,” this book contains more than 80 favorites, ranging from Chocolate Crème Brulee to Macadamia Fudge and each indulgence is low in carbs, high in protein and loaded with fiber.

These goodies are all under five carbs, which is a giant breakthrough for dieters who usually keep their daily tally below 50 grams in order to insure weight loss. (An average piece of conventional chocolate fudge cake can contain more than 50 carbs)

The lack of “bready” comfort foods is another wish list item fulfilled in the book and topping the menu is a “Zero Carb Waffle.” This tasty answer to breakfast boredom not only has more protein than two eggs, but also has a generous portion of fiber—which is a critical need on this diet.

This remarkable cookbook has been a long labor of love for the author, who struggled for years with such eating problems. She confesses, "I love sweets - but eating old-fashioned flour and sugar-filled desserts caused uncontrollable binges, blood sugar plunges and of course, weight gain."

Allbright, a journalist and former health magazine columnist, made a concerted effort to create sweets with a new spin - health. Unlike many commercial products, these desserts are not loaded with artificial additives but contain high quality protein, natural sweeteners, healthy oils and heaps of fiber.

Another important feature of this book is that it's written for the novice as well as the experienced cook. Many of the recipes are both fast and easy to prepare, in fact, "Chocolate Almond Clusters" can be put together in five minutes. (They contain only 2.5 grams of carbs each).

This book is available through bookstores, online or by calling (800) 247-6553. Additional information is available at www. LowCarbSweets. Net

Contact: Honey Gordon (888) 989-6684 to request radio, television or print interviews with the author. An in-studio three minute demonstration of making (no-cooking )Macadamia Fudge can also be arranged at www. honeygordon@LowCarbSweets. Net

83 Year Old Beats Deadly Congestive Heart Failure Without Prescription Drugs Using Nutritional Supplements

83 Year Old Beats Deadly Congestive Heart Failure Without Prescription Drugs Using Nutritional Supplements

In 1997 Ira Marxe, now CEO of Good Health Supplements, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and beat the odds by taking on his heart disease head on by turning to unique nutritional supplements, not drugs, to solve his health crisis and now at 83 years young..."I'm stronger and healthier than I was 20 years ago!"

Sedaon, AZ (PRWEB) August 17, 2006

Can chronic diseases, such as cardiovascular disease (primarily heart disease and stroke), which accounts for more than two-thirds of all deaths in the United States, be avoided with diet, exercise and especially nutritional supplements?

One man beat the odds by taking on his congestive heart failure head on and turned to unique nutritional supplements, not drugs, to solve his health crisis.

In 1997 Ira Marxe, now CEO of Good Health Supplements [ http://www. antiaginglifeextension. com (http://www. antiaginglifeextension. com)], was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and after a complete physical, his mainstream doctor immediately wanted to put me on dangerous side effect causing statin drugs such as Zocor®, Lipitor® or Crestor® plus diuretics and he emphatically refused.

According to Marxe..."I knew there had to be a better way to solve my problem and because of my very pressing personal need, I went looking for a natural alternative with NO side effects."

"Fortunately for me, I found a vitamin/mineral based arterial cleansing product that did everything I hoped. Within six months that formula turned my life around and I no longer had congestive heart failure."

"The results for me where so astonishing that I was compelled to share my good fortune with others like me, so at age 76 I came out of retirement in October of 1999 to create Good Health Supplements and the Total Health Program and now at 83 years young I'm stronger and healthier than I was 20 years ago!"
