Role Model for Muslim Community Short Listed for Prestigious Award

Dr Syed Nayyar Abidi has been nominated for the prestigious award the Ibn Sina Award for Health. He has been shortlisted to the four finalists. The category winners will be announced at a Gala Dinner in London on March 27th. Dr Abidi has spent the past 15 years contributing towards improving the quality of life of the Muslim Community.

The Founding Chief Executive and Media Spokesperson for British Ethnic Health Awareness Foundation (BEHAF) Dr Syed Nayyar Abidi has been selected for another prestigious national award the Ibn Sina Award for Health.

He was nominated for the Award by The Muslim News, an English Weekly Newspaper, published from London and circulated throughout the country.

He has now been included in the list of 4 finalists by an independent panel of 7 Judges.

There is to be a Gala Dinner in London on March 27th when the category winners will be announced. Among the renowned guests will be the Rt Hon. Jack Straw MP (Foreign Secretary).

Dr Abidi has been selected for Ibn Sina Award for the Excellence in Health category. This recent honour comes in recognition of Dr Abidi`s 15 years of persistent healthcare contributions towards improving the quality of life of the Muslim Community, and to raise the true image of Islam in the wider community.

Dr Syed Nayyar Abidi is a writer and health promotion specialist, based in Manchester. He is a member of several healthcare organisations and was founding Secretary General of the Association of Pakistani Graduates (UK) that has helped several medical professionals, refugees and asylum seekers.

In 2002, he published his first bilingual book: ‘Prevention Is Always Better Than Cure’.

Dr Abidi was also the founder of the British Ethnic Health Awareness Foundation (BEHAF). This is an independent Health Educational Forum that is not funded by any local, regional or national health body.

Regular seminars are held, with eminent guest speakers and specialists in their field informing the attendees of various aspects of health and well-being.

BEHAF is also the only nationally registered Health Awareness Trust in the United Kingdom. (Charity Registration No: 1100900)
