Protus Voice Broadcast Enables Effective Communications Between Businesses and Customers

Protus Voice Broadcast Enables Effective Communications Between Businesses and Customers

Voice broadcast service introduced to contact centers delivers valuable information to thousands of customers in a timely, cost-effective manner.

Ottawa (PRWEB) December 1, 2006

Protus IP Solutions introduces Protus Voice broadcast services for Conact Centers. Time is money and information is key. These two rules of business can clash in a call center (http://www. protus. com/index. asp? pg=18) environment where thousands of customers need to be given information within a limited window of opportunity but the number of representatives who can initiate calls is finite. Protus offers a tool to solve these seeming contradictions in customer relationship management.

Protus Voice is a complete end-to-end voice broadcast (http://www. protus. com/index. asp? pg=18) solution that is the most cost-effective and efficient way to deliver messages and notifications to thousands of customers at the same time. Unlike more expensive mediums such as television, radio or direct mail, voice broadcasting allows users to change messages, giving them the flexibility to change and tweak messaging and marketing outreach while improving response rates. Protus Voice can also be set to connect customers with live agents when required.

SMT Direct Marketing is one example of a company that has found this solution effective. For the last 10 years, SMT Direct Marketing has been a leader in providing premier outsourced contact center services (http://www. protus. com/index. asp? pg=18) across multiple sectors on behalf of Fortune 500 companies. The company specializes in high-touch industries such as financial services, telecom, retail and healthcare. Headquartered in Toronto, Canada, SMT Direct has addition contact centers in India, Pakistan, Dubai, and Mexico/Latin America.

"With Protus Voice Broadcast, we are able to provide customers with information they need to know in a short time frame without overburdening our call center resources," says Tony Nadra, president and CEO of SMT Direct Marketing. "We know this solution works because our customer response to the voice messages has been more than double the accepted industry rate as compared to the traditional industry channels."

Protus Voice also makes financial and logistical sense for SMT Direct Marketing because the entire service is hosted. "We don't have to purchase any additional equipment or software," adds Nadra.

The Protus solution includes multiple features that are easy to use. Businesses can create, schedule, launch and track voice campaigns via a simple web based interface. Adjustable dates, times and delivery of messages are among the options available for voice broadcast. The application also allows for flexible voice message (http://www. protus. com/index. asp? pg=14) recording with prerecorded sound files or live recording and the ability to conduct interactive surveys and questionnaires, allowing for instant feedback and real-time online reporting.

"Businesses are constantly looking for ways to improve customer relationships without overburdening resources or finances," says Joseph Nour CEO, Protus IP Solutions. "Protus Voice gives businesses the ability to get to all the right customers at the right time with the right information, and in a way that stands out."

TooNiceStocks Initiates Coverage on Upcoming Crucial FDA Clinical Trial Results for Guided Therapeutics Inc

TooNiceStocks Initiates Coverage on Upcoming Crucial FDA Clinical Trial Results for Guided Therapeutics Inc.

TooNiceStocks. com, a premier investment blog that “finds the value in the undervalued” companies has initiated independent research on Guided Therapeutics Inc. Please visit http://www. TooniceStocks. com to view the full world famous due diligence report.

New York, NY (Vocus) March 17, 2010

PinkSheets traded Guided Therapeutics Inc. (GT) announced on 2/23/2010, their upcoming release of crucial results of the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pivotal clinical trial for their LightTouch(TM) Non-invasive Cervical Cancer Detection System. TooNiceStocks sees a bullish rally occurring as this revolutionary Cancer Detection System has 5 leading doctors scheduled to present at the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology biennial meeting, taking place from March 24 - 27, 2010, in Las Vegas, NV.

Technicals: Guided Therapeutics Inc. definitely has the breakout potential. If we look back to the chart in November 2009, a bullish outbreak occurred on 11/23/09 and GT reached a 52-week high of $1.70. Can GT be an easy double from this point? With the looming FDA data next week and a low float of shares in the public, this might very well be the case. Looking back 30 days, GT has moved up comfortably from $.80 to an intraday high of $1.10 recently. GT is trading above its 13 day moving average, which is considered to be the sign of a bullish trend. In addition, there is added weight to this indication because the moving average is rising and suggests that there has been buying interest in this stock. GT closed above the trigger point for the Parabolic SAR and is currently registering a bullish signal.

Due Diligence: Guided Therapeutics Inc. currently sits on 16 U. S. Patents (You can view all 16 patents in detail by viewing the full due diligence report at http://www. TooNiceStocks. com). If the results of the FDA pivotal clinical trial data are impressive, we will see GT jump leaps and bounds. Should the panel of 5 leading doctors agree that LightTouch(TM) is adequate, then perhaps they have a breakthrough. The Cervical Cancer Market is immense and shows no signs of slowing down in the cancer market. Marketresearch. com states that, “forecasts show significant growth until 2016, GlobalData has estimated the global cervical cancer market to be valued at $1.8 billion in 2009. It is expected to grow to $4.1 billion by 2016, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 11.9% between 2009 and 2016.” This growth is primarily attributed to increased competition among the existing cervical cancer treatments, vaccines, and detection systems in the market. On the financing side, the National Cancer Institute granted GT $2.5 Million to commercialize noninvasive cervical cancer detection devices. Furthermore GT recently received new funding commitment from Konica Minolta Opto, Inc. in expanding cancer detection product lines, a commitment expected to be worth $1.59 Million over a 12 month period. Most importantly in the BusinessWire news release, Mark L. Faupel, Ph. D., President and CEO of GT stated “We are pleased that the presentation authors, all of whom are leaders in women’s health care, support the LightTouch technology and have agreed to speak to its potential for the early detection of cervical cancer.”

Digging Deeper: TooNiceStocks. com was able to talk with a high level Biotech Professional in the Cervical Cancer Industry. That professional stated that “one of their patents, which describes their technology, is unlike the unsuccessful light based approaches for non-invasive glucose testing. Their approach is to image the tissue looking for morphologic and biochemical changes in the underlying tissue. The failure of the glucose testing is the overall precision of the test result and a means to calibrate the system. In this case they are looking for differences in the tissue based on returned light (fluorescence and reflected light). They are not looking for a specific value and the normal tissue can act as a means of calibration or background signal. I think LightTouch™ system has some real potential but the clinical trials will be the key to their success.” Should results be overwhelming strong, we will retest the 52-week high and most likely create new highs, as we will not see Guided Therapeutics, Inc. traded at these current levels ever again. So many uncertainties yet one thing is certain, that the rally has begun for GT.

PUMGO The Most Unique Sports Gift For This Christmas

PUMGO The Most Unique Sports Gift For This Christmas

The name PUMGO comes from the words pump-and-go. PUMGO is a unique combinaiton of a bike and skatebord. Invented by Dr. Hui Yan, a research scientist from the Emory University School of Medicine, Pumgo made the idea of a push-free skateboard spring to life. Will PUMGOing become a popular sport? Find out by taking a test ride.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) November 8, 2005

"Think of it as surfing on land.” This simple idea created a new spin on the way people think about ride-on toys. Invented by Dr. Hui Yan, a research scientist from the Emory University School of Medicine, Pumgo made the idea of a push-free skateboard spring to life.

Since its inception, Pumgo has been sold by specialty toy stores like FAO Swartz in the United States, and Tokyo Hands and Nissen in Japan. In the near future, Pumgo will be making its way to the Europe after having passed the required safety and quality tests in United Kingdom.

How does Pumgo work? Its patented 4-Wheel-Drive and all-wheel steering system allow the rider to cruise along with a simple pumping motion, similar to a see-saw. Pumgo is great for hard, flat surfaces and can reach speeds of up to 10 mph. Adjustable steering and a detachable brake give riders the freedom to customize Pumgo to make a perfect fit. Kids 7 and up and even parents can enjoy Pumgo. The large wheels and shock springs provide a smooth ride so you don’t have to worry about bumps along the way.

Pumgo is not only a great way to have fun; it’s also an excellent way to get a good work out. The Pumping motion is similar to walking up stairs. Riding Pumgo is a great cardiovascular and leg-muscle workout. Both kids and adults can get outside and have a blast without even having to think about exercise (it’s included!).

Is it hard to learn how to ride Pumgo? Not at all. Most kids learn how to ride in about 5 minutes and no skateboard experience is necessary. In fact the similarities between skateboards and Pumgo are quite limited. Both use the same style of deck (the board itself) and both ride along hard surfaces on four wheels. Beyond that, Pumgo is an entirely new experience.

Despite the simplicity of riding Pumgo, some people still have trouble finding their balance. This problem is easily solved with the Pumgo detachable tether, which attaches to the front of the board and gives new riders something to hold on to while they are familiarizing themselves with Pumgo.

Pumgo has caught the eye of several media sources including CBS News, Atlanta Journal Constitution, Time Magazine for Kids, Washington Post and Washington Times. Most recently, Pumgo has been featured in the November edition of Boy’s Life magazine, the official youth magazine of the Boy Scouts of America and will also be featured in the December edition of Sports Illustrated for Kids.

Time Magazine for Kids turned its attention to PUMGO in exclaiming, “Look, Mom. No feet!” Time For Kids hails Pumgo: “You never have to put your foot on the ground to move Land Surf's PUMGO, the world's first push-free skateboard. Just rock back and forth on the board, and off you'll go!”

In the article, “Let’s Go Out and Play”, the Washington Post reports “there was high praise... for the Pumgo Push-Free Cruiser -- no tester had seen a skateboard quite like it… Cole Montgomery, 11, an expert on regular skateboards, found the Pumgo challenging, but soon he and Robin Smith were zooming along smoothly. ‘Cole, I got it,’ said Robin, 11. ‘Just lean forward.’”

Pumgo’s health benefits were commended by the Washington Times in an article entitled, “Toys to get you up and at 'em”. While reviewing new toys that provide a healthy alternative to video games, Pumgo was chosen as the first pick:

“This reporter's favorite? The ‘all skate, no push’ skateboard by Pumgo, of Atlanta, Ga., which one gets going by alternately pumping each end of the board up and down as they ride. It's a good way to exercise the thighs and so easy that even this reporter (who hasn't been on a skateboard in more than 10 years) could do it. Check it out at www. pumgo. com.”

BioVeda Health and Wellness Center of Allentown, PA Announces Its Grand Opening

BioVeda Health and Wellness Center of Allentown, PA Announces Its Grand Opening

Substance Specific Neurological Stress Reduction Therapy or NSRTSM is found very effective in the alleviation of symptoms associated with many chronic conditions such as allergies, asthma, migraines, chronic fatigue and a wide array of skin conditions. Currently over 300 practices throughout the country are using this holistic therapy including over 50 branded BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers.

Allentown, PA (Vocus) December 17, 2009

BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers, LLC. is pleased to announce the opening of a new BioVeda Health and Wellness Center in Allentown, PA. The practitioners at this center, headed by Dr. Corey Kirshner, are successfully providing therapy for those suffering from autonomic nervous system related conditions, such as allergies (http://www. biovedawellness. com), IBS, chronic fatigue, migraines and a myriad of skin conditions including eczema, rosacea, shingles and psoriasis.

The BAX 3000 system (http://www. biovedawellness. com) which is used in this clinic consists of new state-of-the-art technology. The BAX 3000 first measures the patient’s neurological reactions to specific environmental substances presented in the form of sound via the FDA cleared DCM or Digital Conductance Meter. The substances that trigger a physiological stress spike, which is measured by the body’s impedance to each substance, are recorded and then presented back to the patient during light therapy. Light therapy conditions the autonomic nervous system to react normally to the otherwise harmless substances. This form of alternative therapy can stop the process that leads to a host of chronic and acute conditions faced by over 60% of the US population.

Thousands of patients nationwide have undergone therapy, and doctors report better than 80% of patients experienced drastically reduced or eliminated symptoms. The technology has been used successfully to address a variety of symptoms caused by the nervous system’s inappropriate response to typically harmless environmental substances such as peanuts, grass and common house pets. While not an FDA approved therapy for Autism, doctors and patients have reported significant positive changes in areas such as; speech, vocabulary size, normalized effect and the ability to communicate with others in a short period of time. BioVeda Technologies, the manufacturer of the BAX 3000, is planning clinical studies to further document the affects of this therapy and the relationship to childhood neurological disorders.

Neurological stress reduction therapy (NSRT), the groundbreaking technique that is offered at BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers™, is unique in that it combines environmental substance exposure and substance specific stress reduction therapy to reduce or eliminate inappropriate autonomic nervous system mediated responses which trigger conditions such as allergies and symptoms such as rashes, indigestion and headaches which is how the body attempts to expel toxins. This is faster than traditional
Methodologies, highly accurate in substance specific assessment, non-invasive, painless and effective. It requires no drugs, no needles and no dietary restrictions. Some foods might have to be eliminated for 24 hours depending on the diagnostic results.

The system is designed to focus on physiological stress, not to be confused with anxiety, which not only weakens the immune system, but is also the trigger for food allergies, seasonal allergies, pet allergies, asthma, eczema, migraines, shingles, celiac and numerous other auto-immune related conditions. How these specific substances affect the stress levels placed on our immune system has a direct impact on the quality of our daily lives. Nearly everyone can benefit from this type of therapy.

“My practice is a friendly, educational office and the staff is genuinely concerned about the health of our patients,” states Dr. Kirshner. “I bring the latest in health care to the office and believe that Neurological Stress Reduction Therapy (NSRT) is solid cutting edge technology that utilizes holistic care (http://www. biovedawellness. com) to improve the health and quality of life of people suffering from chronic conditions. My belief is that each individual must be provided with a unique and customized treatment program. Over the past 25 years, I have honed my knowledge of body mechanics, metabolic profiling and nutrition. With the introduction of the BAX-3000 into the practice, I know have the ability to help with an expanded array of health concerns.”

BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers are being established across the country through BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers, LLC., based in Boca Raton, FL. Each clinic is independently owned and operated by a licensed physician. The company was established in 2009 and is committed to utilizing the technology provided by its parent company, BioVeda Technologies to provide effective and noninvasive therapeutic alternatives rooted in NSRTSM. BioVeda, which means “knowledge and wisdom of the body,” reflects the vision and commitment of the Allentown Center to alternative health care (http://www. biovedawellness. com) methods that can help thousands of patients reduce their level of suffering from common and debilitating symptoms. The BAX 3000 system has been shown to be effective with all types of substances, including seasonal reactions to hay fever, pollen, grasses and trees; environmental substances such as pollutants, chemicals, dust and dust mites; foods such as fruit, dairy, and nuts; and pets including cats and dogs, among others. More recently, the system has also been shown to be effective in the treatment of symptoms related to hot flashes, colitis, low energy and fatigue, migraines, shingles, celiac disease, eczema, autism and asthma.

“An allergy is simply an inappropriate response developed by your body as a result of a genetic predisposition or a learned negative interaction with a specific substance,” said Dr. Guy Annunziata, Chief Clinical Officer at BioVeda Technologies. “This programmed response triggers a reaction within your body. Common reactions may include the release of histamine leading to sneezing, runny nose, itching, watery eyes, headaches and difficulty breathing. However, other symptomatic diagnoses such as IBS, acid reflux, fibromyalgia and autism have also been very closely linked to underlying reactions to various substances. Once the physiological stress related to a particular substance is identified, our system works to eliminate the stress response or stop the cascade of events that lead to symptoms by training the nervous system to maintain stasis during real world exposure. Dr. Annunziata, along with the other medical practitioners at BioVeda Technologies, works closely with the wellness centers to ensure the highest level of standardization, clinical results and success rates.

Patients receive a customized treatment plan which best fit their individual symptoms and conditions; however, many patients notice significant results after receiving just a single NSRT therapeutic session. The cost for therapy is very affordable and results are long-lasting.

BioVeda Health and Wellness Centers are located throughout the U. S. There is expected to be over 100 centers by the Spring of 2010. BioVeda Health and Wellness Center of Allentown, PA (http://www. biovedaofallentown. com) is now open and located at 2120 Union Boulevard, Allentown, PA 18109, 1-877-411-5178, http://www. biovedaofallentown. com (http://www. biovedaofallentown. com)

Publicity and Public Relations for 'Green' Products and Services

Publicity and Public Relations for 'Green' Products and Services

Publicity and PR services are now available for the growing trend of "Green" products and services for consumers.

Mill Valley, CA (PRWEB) April 18, 2006

GreenNews. Emergency Grants and Mental Health First Aid Training Available to Meet Mental Health Needs after Haiti Earthquake

Emergency Grants and Mental Health First Aid Training Available to Meet Mental Health Needs after Haiti Earthquake

The National Council is offering small emergency grants and free Mental Health First Aid training to support mental health efforts in the wake of the devastating Haiti earthquake.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 19, 2010

The National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare (National Council) is offering small emergency grants and free Mental Health (http://www. thenationalcouncil. org/cs/project_helping_hands) First Aid training to support mental health efforts in the wake of the devastating Haiti earthquake.

“Our thoughts are with the people of Haiti and with their loved ones in the U. S. We commend the efforts of many agencies and individuals that are providing disaster relief. Our pockets are not deep but we are standing by to help in any way we can,” Linda Rosenberg, president and CEO of the National Council said.

Through its Project Helping Hands (http://www. thenationalcouncil. org/cs/donation), the National Council offers small grants to organizations working to meet the mental health needs of Haitian survivors and loved ones in the U. S. Since 2005, Project Helping Hands has supported behavioral healthcare organizations responding to emergency mental health and addictions treatment needs in the wake of disaster — hiring treatment staff, setting up emergency outreach offices, and purchasing medications and emergency equipment.

It is estimated that up to 25 to 30 percent of people in the most vulnerable communities experience the onset of trauma and mental disorders (http://www. thenationalcouncil. org/cs/about_us) in the wake of disaster. These needs usually manifest several weeks to months after a disaster, as the reality of loss and displacement sinks in. Those with pre-existing serious mental illnesses may be traumatized anew or displaced and need extra care and support.

Haitian populations in the U. S., concerned about the safety and whereabouts of any loved ones in Haiti, may also be experiencing acute anxiety and stress reactions. Further, it is likely that the U. S. will see a significant influx of surviving Haitians over the coming months and a good number will likely experience mental health issues, in addition to the challenges of settling into a new culture.

Free Mental Health First Aid USA (http://www. MentalHealthFirstAid. org (http://www. MentalHealthFirstAid. org)) training is available for volunteers headed to help in Haiti in the coming months and for community groups and caring citizens working with Haitian populations in the U. S.

Mental Health First Aid USA — a collaboration of the National Council, the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and the Missouri Department of Mental Health — equips members of the public with skills and resources to help someone developing a mental health problem or save someone experiencing a mental health crisis. Those trained in Mental Health First Aid can recognize the risk factors and warning signs of mental illness and connect persons in need with appropriate professional or other help, including peer and family support.

Those who wish to support the Haiti disaster mental health response may donate to the National Council’s Project Helping Hands at http://www. thenationalcouncil. org/cs/project_helping_hands (http://www. thenationalcouncil. org/cs/project_helping_hands).

The National Council is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) association of 1,700 behavioral healthcare organizations that provide treatment and rehabilitation for mental illnesses and addictions disorders to nearly six million adults, children and families in communities across the country.

National Caribbean-American Health AIDS Awareness Day (NCAHAAD)

National Caribbean-American Health AIDS Awareness Day (NCAHAAD)

CPIC, INC Introduces the first National Caribbean American Health/AIDS Awareness Day

Washington, DC (PRWEB) June 8, 2006

On Thursday June 8, 2006 Caribbean-Americans / Caribbean immigrants and community based organizations nationwide will respond to the health disparities facing people of color especially Caribbean Immigrants in the first observance of National Caribbean-American Health/AIDS Awareness Day (NCAHAAD). NCAHAAD is a national mobilization effort designed to encourage Caribbean-American and Caribbean-born individuals, across the United States and its territories, to get educated, get tested, get treated and get involved. It is also a time to reflect, memorialize and show compassion for those infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. It is a day of hope for the future of a Caribbean and Caribbean American community with available preventive health care as a daily part of life and a Caribbean Diaspora free of AIDS.

The first annual NCHAAD was created to provide Caribbean-Americans with resources, HIV/AIDS health education, evaluation, and opportunities for involvement. The goal is to beat the odds and to ensure that we cultivate a health conscious atmosphere within our communities. This day is a part of a National effort to get Caribbean-Americans to get educated, get evaluated, get treated and get involved with their health decisions, as HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Cancer, High Blood Pressure and Cardiovascular diseases continues to negatively affect the Caribbean communities resulting in premature deaths.

New Book: The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction

New Book: The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction

This is an in-depth examination of addiction science and medical treatments for drug dependence and alcoholism, written by an experienced science and business journalist.

Nevis, MN (PRWEB) April 28, 2009

''The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction'' by Dirk Hanson, is a new book for anyone concerned with the care and healing of addiction, substance abuse, and the latest advances in the area of addiction science. Author Hanson has written a vital resource for friends and families of addicts and alcoholics, as well as health groups and substance abuse professionals.

The amazing growth of addiction science has led to new understandings about the biochemical, emotional, and cognitive processes that give rise to substance addiction. In this accessible and straightforward examination, ''The Chemical Carousel'' looks at the history of drug use, and abuse; the drugs themselves; treatment methods; and alternate approaches to addiction, while presenting the compelling and surprising advances that have changed the landscape of addiction science. Written with the layperson in mind, this book is a must read for anyone interested in addiction, its causes, and its challenges.

Extended Description

Isn't substance abuse really about weak wills and low self-esteem? Is addiction really a medical condition? Can addicts be cured? Journalist and author Dirk Hanson responds to these and other critical questions about substance abuse, addiction science, and human nature in his eminently accessible and groundbreaking new book, ''The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction.''

Addicts have traditionally been taught to think of themselves the way Franz Kafka thought of himself in relation to his own disease: ''Secretly I don't believe this illness to be tuberculosis... but rather a sign of my general bankruptcy." Despite decades of official recognition of the disease model of addiction, the traditional view of the addict as an immature and irresponsible person, short on will power, low on self-esteem, and forever at the mercy of his or her "addictive personality," is still alive and well. Moreover, this outmoded view works at cross-purposes with the goal of helping addicts recognize the need for treatment.

In ''The Chemical Carousel,'' science writer Dirk Hanson takes the reader on a voyage through the heady world of addiction science, from the lab to the clinic to the junky on the street. Hanson explains the workings of common neurotransmitters and documents the direct effect drugs and alcohol produce on the reward pathways of the brain. He shows how scientists and treatment professionals have finally given us an answer to the perennial question about addiction: Why can't those people just say no?

Written in plain English with the layperson in mind, ''The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction'' presents a thoughtful, compassionate, and straightforward examination of a subject many find arcane and mysterious, but one that takes a huge toll on human lives and national economies worldwide. If you are concerned about addiction, its impact, and the hope for its eventual cure, then ''The Chemical Carousel'' is an essential resource and a must read.

Author Biography

Dirk Hanson is a freelance science writer and the author of "The Chemical Carousel: What Science Tells Us About Beating Addiction." He is also the author of ''The New Alchemists: Silicon Valley and the Microelectronics Revolution.'' He has worked as a business and technology reporter for numerous magazines and trade publications. He currently edits the Addiction Inbox blog.

Facts from the book

As many as 30 percent of suicides every year may come from the nation's pool of about 22 million alcoholics. Half of all emergency room patients with multiple fractures are alcoholics, according to research by prominent alcohol investigator George Vaillant. Female alcoholics develop liver diseases like cirrhosis more frequently than men do. Alcohol loses most its rewarding properties when brain receptors for opiates are blocked.

--Large numbers of addicted cigarette smokers suffer from clinical depression. Smoking a single cigarette has been likened by one nicotine researcher to ''lighting a match in a gasoline factory.'' Women who smoke more than 20 cigarettes a day face an 80 per cent greater risk of developing breast cancer, compared to non-smoking women. Roughly one out of every three women of childbearing age was a cigarette smoker in 1991. Former Surgeon General Everett Koop said tobacco smoking results in ''a thousand funerals a day.''

--Large doses of methamphetamine can trigger psychotic episodes indistinguishable from schizophrenia. Vigabatrin, a drug for the treatment of epilepsy, may turn out to be the first government-approved treatment for meth addiction.

--Recent studies have documented the existence of severe caffeine addicts, who suffer significant depression and impaired cognition for several months following termination of coffee drinking.

--Mice that have been genetic altered so that they lack the ability to taste sweet foods still prefer sugar water to regular water. And PET scans of former bulimics (men suffer from it, too) disclosed that they showed a marked decrease in serotonin binding at 5HT receptors, compared to healthy, age-matched women.

--Between 3 and 7 percent of Americans are "poor metabolizers" due to a genetic variant for the enzyme CYP2D6. For them, the recommended drug dosage can be far too high.

--A significant percentage of regular marijuana users report that they suffer from severe withdrawal symptoms when they abstain completely from pot.

Assisted Reproductive Technology and Acupuncture = Greater Conception Success

Assisted Reproductive Technology and Acupuncture = Greater Conception Success

New program helps to increase chances of fertility.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2006

In a report that can be found in the “Fertility and Sterility” journal (Spring, 2002) published by the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, it was published that the use of acupuncture to assist successful IVF conception increases the chances of successful implantation. “What Traditional Chinese Medicine has known for thousands of years is now being revealed via research and published study”, says Laurie Morse, a Licensed Acupuncturist. Another study performed by Cornell University (December, 2002) that can be found in “Fertility and Sterility” stated, “Acupuncture provides encouraging data regarding its potential positive effect on implantation.”

This is good news for the increasing numbers of couples trying to conceive. According to The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, it is estimated that currently, more than 1 in 6 couples are unable to conceive without some form of medical intervention. Acupuncture is non-toxic and relatively affordable, thus deserves serious consideration when trying to get pregnant.

In addition to acupuncture, there are a few other important considerations for conception. Your daily diet and mindset also have an important impact on successful conception so be sure to eat healthy. According to Ms. Morse, there are several things a woman who is trying to conceive has direct control over via her daily decisions. These choices can potentially save her money in the long run, whether utilizing Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) or going about conception naturally. “It’s vital to take seriously those aspects of your health you have control over in order to optimize fertility,” says Morse.

The good news is that for women who are unsure about which choices support optimal fertility, there is a self-guided program called My Fertility Success. This program provides those seeking to get pregnant with a step-by-step process for turning their infertility switch off and their fertility switch on.

Governor Mitt Romney: There is no substance here... only disaster.

Senator John McCain: Lost on this issue.

Senator Sam Brownback: Thanks for nothing.

Senator Mike Huckabee: Mike, you do not have a clue.

Mr. Rudy Giuliani: ... proposed the most innovative Republican position on health care reform.

Senator Joe Biden: Not a clue.

Senator Chris Dodd: ... looking forward to more specifics from the Dodd campaign...

Senator Barack Obama: ... has taken a position on many of the issues, but is not very convincing about how changes would get done.

Senator Hillary Clinton: ... has the drive, perseverance and vision of a leader who can reform health care in America.

"Changes to the health care system are going to be costly and painful," says Stettner. "Whatever side you take, be well."

ASPCA Rescues 25 Dogs from Horrific Conditions in Ga

ASPCA Rescues 25 Dogs from Horrific Conditions in Ga.

Alleged fighting dogs left to starve

New York, NY (Vocus) February 18, 2010

The ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), under the authority of the Washington County, Ga. Sheriff’s Office, today removed 25 alleged fighting and breeding dogs from a 25-acre property near Sandersville, Ga.

Working in conjunction with teams from United Animal Nations and Sumter DART (Disaster Animal Response Team), the ASPCA’s Field Investigations and Response team removed 25 dogs from the property at 1750 Ohoopee Church Rd., approximately 130 miles southeast of Atlanta. At least 25 emaciated dogs were discovered, chained to tire axles and posts that dotted the property, and another 27 were found dead and in various stages of decomposition.

“It’s bad enough that these dogs were treated cruelly and raised in horrible conditions,” said Tim Rickey, the ASPCA’s Senior Director of Field Investigations and Response. “But to leave them like this to starve is incomprehensible and speaks exactly to the kinds of heinous crimes the ASPCA fights day in and day out.”

Washington County authorities intend to arrest the caretaker of the animals, who claims that the original owner of the dogs did not provide them with adequate food and other necessities. Other arrests and animal cruelty charges are anticipated.

“This has been going on for much too long,” said Washington County Sheriff Thomas Smith. “We are committed to fighting animal cruelty in all its forms.”

“We are grateful to be able to respond to this situation, and for the agencies assisting us,” said Deputy Lynn Schlup of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, who contacted the ASPCA approximately three weeks ago for assistance. She said none of the dogs were current on vaccinations.

The dogs were transferred to an emergency shelter at an undisclosed location in Washington County provided by Vanguard Associates. They will be triaged by ASPCA veterinarians Dr. Melinda Merck and Dr. Robert Reisman, along ASPCA veterinary technicians, and assisted by Dr. Jason Byrd, Associate Director of the Center for Forensic Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The dogs will be cared for at the temporary shelter by volunteers of United Animal Nations until a forfeiture hearing.

All of the dogs are emaciated and undernourished; some are suffering from untreated injures, respiratory problems and open wounds. Tethered by log chains, the dogs were discovered without food, water or adequate shelter, shivering in the freezing temperatures.

Authorities believe that the dogs rescued were used for fighting. “They bear the battle scars consistent with those of fighting dogs,” Rickey said. “Being on log chains 24/7 is no way to live,” he added. “These dogs have lived a miserable life, and are just as starved for human contact.”

Los Alamitos, CA (PRWEB) May 7, 2007

Expectant moms tired of all the hype for Mother's Day and feeling left out because their baby's due date is still week's way are taking action this year at Los Alamitos, CA-based Pacific Coast Ultrasound, a certified independent diagnostic facility that specializes in 3D/4D limited diagnostic/elective ultrasounds. Expectant mothers are planning to get an advanced gift from their unborn child this year by taking advantage of the state of the art technical advancements of 3D/4D ultrasounds to peak at their baby's first real-time movements inside the womb, according to Darlene Ginnett, RDMS, CEO and founder of Pacific Coast Ultrasound, Los Alamitos, CA.

Says Ginnett, "It's time for expectant moms to take center stage this year and enjoy their first 'pre' Mother's Day celebration with a 3D and 4/D ultrasound that will allow them to see what their baby will look like before he or she is born. Expectant mothers are in for a real treat --they can expect a wave, a yawn, a wink, and amazing stretches that might look like virtual hugs as their Mother's Day gift this year.

To help expectant moms "get" this Mother's Day gift, Pacific Coast Ultrasound is offering specially priced spring specials. For details visit www. pacificcoastultrasound. com.

The memories ultrasound uses 3D and 4D technology to provide for an exciting preview of their baby with detailed graphic image quality and motion. Says Ginnett, "This can be a great way for you and your family to bond with your unborn baby, but it can also pose risks to you and your baby -- a fact very few 3D/4D facilities make public."

According to Ginnett, it is vitally important for the public to be aware of the difference between keepsake boutique and a full-service, regulatory compliant facility that provides full medical and physician oversight like Pacific Coast Ultrasound. She explains, "Patients have the right to ask about the credentials and supervision of the providing facility, which should employ only registered ARDMS technologists but also include a California board-certified radiologist and medical director. They have the right to ask if they can perform diagnostic examinations and bill healthcare insurance, in addition to providing elective prenatal sessions."

For more information, please call Pacific Coast Ultrasound at 562-596-3428, 4622 Katella Ave. Suite 101 Los Alamitos, 90720. www. pacificcoastultrasound. com. For media inquiries, please contact Peggy C. Frank, Frank Public Relations Worldwide, www. frankpr. com.

2007 HSA Deductible & Contribution Limits Announced by IRS

2007 HSA Deductible & Contribution Limits Announced by IRS

Employers are scrambling to update their HSA minimum and maximum deductible amounts and contribution for 2007 HSA indexed figures recently announced by the IRS. Section 125 plans also need to be updated if employee HSA savings deductions are made on a pretax basis.

Bradenton, FL (PRWEB) December 7, 2006

Core Documents, Inc., the nation's primary source for Section 125, HSA and HRA plan documents reports the IRS has announced 2007 HSA indexed figures for minimum and maximum HSA deductible levels and HSA annual contribution limits.

Employers all over the country who sponsor Health Savings Accounts and qualifying HSA High Deductible Health Plans (HDHP) are updating their Plans to include the new 2007 HSA indexed figures.

Here are the 2007 HSA indexed figures as reported by the IRS:

Minimum Deductibles for HSA HDHP

Individual - $1,100

Family - $2,200

Maximum Deductible HSA Out-of-Pocket for HDHP

Individual - $5,500

Family - $11,000

Maximum HSA Annual Contribution Levels

Individual - Lesser of Deductible or $2,850

Family - Lesser of Deductible or $5,650

Catch-up for age 55 and over

Additional $800

Gene Ennis, President of Core Documents, Inc., (www. CoreDocuments. com) reports that many employers are not aware that the HSA savings component can also be pre-taxed through a Section 125 Premium Only Plan, if the Section 125 plan document has been amended to include the HSA benefit. The reason the plan document needs to be updated is because the HSA savings component is not an irrevocable deduction as is the Section 125 insurance premium deductions. Employees have numerous options to modify or stop HSA savings deductions throughout the year. Also, any time a Section 125 Plan Document is updated the Department of Labor requires each employee to receive a new Summary Plan Description.

Mr. Ennis also reports that any employer offering HSA plans can amend and restate, replace or purchase a new Section 125 Premium Only Plan document with the required HSA module to include the savings component for only $179 plus $15 shipping and handling. This price also includes free software to administer and track the savings deductions. Employers receive everything the need to comply with all IRS and Department of Labor requirements. See more details at www. CoreHSA. com or call 888-755-3373.

Gear Up And Get In Shape: Bristol Businesses Challenged

Gear Up And Get In Shape: Bristol Businesses Challenged

Action Medical Research is suggesting that companies across Bristol ‘gear up and get in shape’ by the August 18 deadline for entering teams for this summer’s Action 100 Bike Ride on Sunday 29 August 2004. Three team entries raising most money will win special prizes of Ultimate Outdoor Activities.

(PRWEB) August 10, 2004

Leading medical research charity, Action Medical Research, is throwing down the gauntlet to companies across Bristol to ‘gear up and get in shape’. They have only until August 18 to enter teams for this summer’s Action 100 Bike Ride on Sunday 29 August 2004.

The Action 100 Bike Ride challenges ordinary cyclists to cycle 100 miles to raise money for Action Medical Research. Businesses from banks to local gyms are challenged to participate in what is proving to be a brilliant team-building exercise. Riders hope to help top the £40,000 raised last year whilst enjoying a tremendous day out and sense of achievement. And the three team entries raising most money will win special prizes of Ultimate Outdoor Activities, sponsored by Hill House Hammond. These range from skiing and snowboarding to mountain biking and off-road driving.

Richard Westropp, chairman of the volunteer organising group for Action Medical Research, said: “We’re hoping for as great a response from local businesses as we had last year. Our 23rd annual bike ride is a perfect opportunity for organisations to nurture real team spirit. As work/life balance comes higher up the business agenda, Action 100 is a great way for employers to let staff know they’re valued whilst promoting both fitness and a positive involvement in the community.“

Last year’s local teams included company teams from Barclays Bank and Matthew Clark. Many offer ‘fund matching’ programmes, where employers match money raised in some proportion (often pound for pound). This type of gift can double or triple the value of donations. Possible Life-Saving Screenings Hosted Free-of-Charge by DeKalb County Churches

Possible Life-Saving Screenings Hosted Free-of-Charge by DeKalb County Churches

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) has announced for a second year they will be participating in a prostate cancer screening community initiative. RCOG, The DeKalb County Board of Health and Oakhurst Medical Centers are partnering with three DeKalb County, GA churches for free-Prostate Cancer screenings during the month of September.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 2, 2008

As part of the TRIM (TRIM - Teach. Reach. Inform Men.) Public Service Campaign, Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG), The DeKalb County Board of Health and Oakhurst Medical Centers are teaming up with four DeKalb County churches to host FREE-of-charge Prostate Cancer Screenings during September's Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.

This is the second year Radiotherapy Clinics of Georgia (RCOG) (http://www. rcog. com/rcog_essentials. htm) is offering this community service initiative. According to Colleen Simon, President and CEO of Decatur-headquartered RCOG, statistics show that men in DeKalb County have a higher rate of prostate cancer than men in other counties in the region as well as Georgia as a whole. Additionally, the death rate from prostate cancer for DeKalb County residents is significantly higher for black men, as they are afflicted by this disease earlier and more aggressively than any other race.

"Churches are a special gathering place, with built-in support systems and an important source of information for congregations, particularly in the African-American community," states Ms. Simon. "Churches are also a comfortable and secure setting to share information many men avoid talking about, including information about prostate cancer. What better place than a church to help educate men about this disease and at the same time inform them about free-of-charge prostate cancer screenings (http://www. rcog. com/requestevaluation. htm) that could save their lives."

Free-of-Charge PSA Screenings During Prostate Cancer Month:
RCOG, The DeKalb Board of Health and Oakhurst Medical Centers are offering free-of-charge PSA testing for men 40 years of age and older at four host churches in DeKalb County during September's Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. No appointments are needed for these screenings. Locations and screening times are as follows:

Saturday, September 6, 2008
11:00 a. m. - 2:00 p. m.
New Piney Grove Missionary Baptist Church
2580 Snapfinger Road
Decatur, GA 30034

Saturday, September 13, 2008
11:00 a. m. - 2:00 p. m.
St. Philip A. M.E. Church
240 Candler Road, S. E.
Atlanta, GA 30317

Saturday, September 20, 2008
11:00 a. m. - 2:00 p. m.
Beulah Missionary Baptist Church
2340 Clifton Springs Road
Decatur, GA 30034

Saturday, September 27, 2008
11:00 a. m. - 2:00 p. m.
Berean Christian Church
2201 Young Road
Stone Mountain, GA 30088

Prostate Screening A Simple Blood Test:
A simple, annual blood test called PSA (prostate specific antigen) (http://www. rcog. com/terms. htm), which detects the presence of protein levels made by the prostate cells, is recommended at age 40 for African-American men and men with a family history of this disease. Screening should begin at age 50 for all other men.

"Screening for prostate cancer involves a simple blood test," says Ms. Simon. "Generating awareness of how important this blood test is may lead to early detection, the key for giving a man the best chance to be cured of this disease. RCOG is one of the country's largest and oldest centers for cancer treatment and research (http://www. rcog. com/rcog_facilities. htm)," says Ms. Simon, explaining why the clinic is endorsing this program. Over the last 25 years, RCOG's team of physicians, under the direction of the company's Director of Cancer Treatment and Research and Medical Director Dr. Frank Critz, has treated more than 11,000 men with prostate cancer using a procedure called ProstRcision.

"RCOG has one of the highest documented cure rates in the world for prostate cancer and with the fewest of complications," says Simon. "The more men we can help educate, the better their chances for a long, healthy life."

For more information about the TRIM Initiative on Prostate Cancer and the free-of-charge PSA screenings, contact Debbie Wright, R. N., RCOG Community Outreach Coordinator, (404) 633-5606, Ext. 197.

1st Trust Factoring Introduces New Invoice Factoring Services That Allow Businesses to Free up Time and Money

1st Trust Factoring Introduces New Invoice Factoring Services That Allow Businesses to Free up Time and Money

1st Trust Factoring is a company that represents many institutional investment companies. These companies can provide customers with the immediate cash they need to keep their businesses running smoothly, without going into debt. 1st Trust Factoring matches customers up with the right invoice factoring company that can best serve their needs.

Vergennes, Vermont (PRWEB) September 7, 2007

1st Trust Factoring (http://www.1sttrustfactoring. com (http://www.1sttrustfactoring. com)) is proud to offer new services to businesses that need to free up cash to keep their operations running smoothly. Invoice factoring is a very common practice in which the business sells their invoices to a factoring company that will pay them for the balances of the invoices immediately. This allows for companies to continue to pay their bills, upgrade equipment, and make payroll without waiting 30, 60, or even 90 days until the invoice is paid in full. 1st Trust Factoring represents many of these institutional investment companies, matching customers up with the company that is right for their needs.

Purchasing receivables can help many different types of businesses, including small and medium sized hospitals, doctor offices, clinics, diagnostic facilities, physical therapy facilities, medical supply companies, medical laboratories, MRI facilities, substance abuse centers, nursing homes, and any other health related services that bill third parties such as Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance companies.

Invoice factoring allows for a company to raise the cash they need quickly instead of going to the bank for a loan. In short, factoring solves short term cash need problems that often exist in the medical and health services field.

When asked to give an example of the benefits that companies can expect with factoring, 1st Trust Factoring cited this example: "St. Joseph's Clinic was growing and adding more doctors and nurses. As a result, the clinic was also seeing more patients and billing more receivables to third party payers. There became a larger need for cash sooner than third party payers normally pay their invoices."

1st Trust Factoring went on to say, "St. Joseph's Clinic decided to approach a cash flow consultant to see how factoring could improve their current situation. The factoring consultant demonstrated that factoring not only provides the needed cash, but the profit picture of the clinic improves as well. The cost of factoring is less than the gross profit minus variable cost, which creates a a win-win situation all around, with a 400% return on investment improving net profit."

Because 1st Trust Factoring works with so many different companies within many different industries, they have a broad understanding of the necessary steps and required components that contribute to successful invoice factoring.

For more information about the services offered at 1st Trust Factoring, visit http://www.1sttrustfactoring. com (http://www.1sttrustfactoring. com).

Adhesions and Surgery: New Book, 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain,' Examines Breaking the Endless Cycle of Pain

Adhesions and Surgery: New Book, 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain,' Examines Breaking the Endless Cycle of Pain

Post-surgical adhesions can cause chronic pain and dysfunction if left untreated. In an upcoming book 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain,' researchers examine a non-surgical therapy developed to treat adhesions.

Gainesville, FL (PRWEB) October 29, 2008

Surgeries save lives, but they often create glue-like adhesions as the body heals from surgery. Post-surgical adhesions can cause pain and even life-threatening problems, such as bowels that become blocked and lose their function.

In an upcoming book, 'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain,' researchers examine a non-surgical therapy (Wurn Technique®) that has decreased or eliminated adhesions in many patients, including abdominal adhesions and post-surgical adhesions (http://www. clearpassage. com/adhesions/post-surgical-adhesions. php).

Many pelvic and abdominal surgeries require repeat surgery - to remove the adhesions that formed from the earlier surgery. Abdominal adhesions (http://www. clearpassage. com/abdominal-adhesions. php) occur in over 90% of patients after major abdominal surgery and pelvic adhesions (http://www. clearpassage. com/adhesions/pelvic-adhesions. php) occur in 55-100% of women who undergo pelvic surgery, according to a study in the journal 'Digestive Surgery' (2001). In a large study published in 'Lancet' (1999), over a third of patients who underwent major abdominal or pelvic surgery were re-hospitalized at least twice to treat adhesion related conditions.

The Wurn Technique® was created to treat the adhesions physical therapist Belinda Wurn developed after pelvic surgery. "I had double-over pain," she said. "I could not work or stand up straight. It hurt to sit and even to breathe; the pain was always there."

Wurn did not want to undergo a repeat surgery, knowing that more adhesions would likely form. Her husband, Larry Wurn, joined her in a search for a 'hands-on' answer. "We basically searched the world for an answer," he said. "Each new piece we learned brought us that much closer to a cure."

The Wurns have now published several studies on the manual physical therapy in peer-reviewed medical journals.

"Our biggest surprise was the variety of conditions that responded well to the therapy," Belinda said. "Post-surgical pain patients responded well - then, we started seeing improvements in infertile women. When the therapy opened blocked fallopian tubes, we named our clinic Clear Passage Therapies."

Studies in 'Medscape General Medicine' (2004) and 'Fertility and Sterility' (2006) showed that the therapy improved fertility and decreased or eliminated endometriosis and intercourse pain in most participants. In a study from 'Alternative Therapies in Health and Medicine' (2008) the therapy opened blocked fallopian tubes in women who had been diagnosed infertile. Most had natural pregnancies after their tube(s) opened, and several had second natural pregnancies - indicating that the results of therapy lasted for years for some women.

'Miracle Moms, Better Sex, Less Pain' will be published this winter; Larry and Belinda Wurn with research gynecologist, Richard King, MD, are co-authoring the book. The table of contents is available at the Clear Passage Therapies blog to spur discussions with their readers on important topics. A free e-book excerpt from the book will be available soon at Clear Passage Therapies (http://www. clearpassage. com/).

Deserts's Sand Cat Litter Product Called a 'Bio-Scientific Breakthrough'

Deserts's Sand Cat Litter Product Called a 'Bio-Scientific Breakthrough'

Desert's Sand Cat litter is all natural, eliminates all odors.

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) December 18, 2010

An innovative Arizona corporation has launched a product that it calls a bio-scientific breakthrough in the $1.8-billion a year cat litter business.

First appearing on retailers’ shelves in November, Desert’s Sand™ cat litter is different from other competitors: its all-natural volcanic ash based product (Zeolite) absorbs urine and renders both urine and feces completely odorless.

“That’s good news for all cat owners in many ways,” says Herman Haenert, of Tucson AZ, one of two partners of Desert Veterinary Concepts LLC. “It’s longer lasting since clumping is limited, eliminates all odors, inhibits germs since it has no silica dust, and is environmentally sound because of compostable future use.”

Gone are the worries of cat owners who are pregnant, he adds, because germs usually associated with a cat litter box are greatly minimized.

The Desert’s Sand blend was developed by Haenert and Larry Mohr, of Tempe AZ, the corporation’s other partner. The zeolite blend converts ammonia and other odor-causing compounds into an odorless organic enzyme vapor. That technology eliminates all odors in and around the litter box.

The two say they hope to sell “millions of product pounds” in the first 12 months of retail visibility.

Its desert gold sunset colored packaged product carries a premium price, but isn’t as costly as silicone-based products. “Actually, our product lasts more than twice as long as clay-based products, therefore more economical on a monthly use basis,” explains Mohr. “Ten pounds of Desert’s Sand usually lasts for up to 30 days, compared to four to six days for others (ie. clay, sawdust or newspaper based products).”

Being biodegradable, Desert’s Sand solids can be flushed down the toilet or put in the garbage can, he adds. In a retail market dominated by clay-based products, the Mohr-Haenert product is only one of a few that uses a different base product.

At present, Desert’s Sand is available at a growing number of retail stores in the U. S.. Haenert says the majority of them are Kroger-owned stores across the country, and various east coast retail chain stores and pet shops. Additional information is accessible at http://www. desertssand. com.

Haenert and Mohr are marketing their product with Home and Business Consumer Products in Seekonk MA.

“We now are negotiating with other large retail corporations to carry our product,” Haenert adds, “and also are seeking to license the product internationally.” At present, Desert’s Sand is being manufactured at a facility in the Greater Phoenix area.

Desert Veterinary Concepts, LLC – currently has patent pending status for its technology. Its technology is supported by a NASA - and Boeing-sponsored 250-page media study by Penn State University researchers, which confirms the corporation’s product.

Haenert’s 40-year career in the animal health business spans the distribution, licensing and product development areas. Over the past 30 years, Mohr has formulated products around a biological odor control base in Japan, Malaysia and the U. S. He holds five product patents and was the winner of an international award for industrial innovation.
