Inaugural Vytra Grand Slam Challenge to be Held at Citibank Park

The first-ever Long Island high school baseball all-star game, the Vytra Grand Slam Challenge, will be held at Citibank Park home of the 2004 Atlantic League champion Ducks, on Saturday June 18 at 7:30 p. m., the Long Island Ducks announced today. Proceeds from the game will benefit the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks, which grants funds to to non-profit organizations.

The first-ever Long Island high school baseball all-star game, the Vytra Grand Slam Challenge, will be held at Citibank Park home of the 2004 Atlantic League champion Ducks, on Saturday June 18 at 7:30 p. m., the Long Island Ducks announced today.

The nine-inning Vytra Grand Slam Challenge will showcase top-ranked high school senior baseball players from both Nassau and Suffolk counties. The teams will be coached by the Nassau and Suffolk county coaches of the year.

Sponsors of the event include Vytra Health Plans, Newsday, and radio stations WBAB and WBLI, in addition to the Ducks.

“This is going to be a fun event for a good cause,” said Vytra President Tom McAteer. “We’re excited to be able to create an event where young players can show off their wares at the premier facility on Long Island. I’m looking forward to it.”

Proceeds from the game will benefit the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks, which was formed in 2003 as a means for the franchise to extend its reach in the community to non-profit organizations.
