Hoxworth Blood Center at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center deploys the pulsevoice interactive voice response (IVR) system to communicate test results to patients.

As part of its blood donation program, Hoxworth Blood Center offers free cholesterol screening tests to all blood donors. The non-fasting total serum cholesterol level test is part of all successful blood donations, and is intended to be a screening only.

Donors can obtain the results of the screening three days after the blood donation, by phone only. At the time of donation, Hoxworth provides each donor a unique ID number and phone number to call.

“We feel the addition of a free cholesterol screening test will enhance the experience of donating blood,” said Michael Anderson, spokesperson for Hoxworth. “Not only are our donors saving lives by giving blood, but they’ll monitor their good health with a free cholesterol screening. The pulsevoice IVR provides us with a cost-efficient way to communicate the test results back to our donors.”
