Salad Dressings and Mayonnaise are Naturally Trans Fat Free

Salad Dressings and Mayonnaise are Naturally Trans Fat Free

To help educate consumers about trans fat, the Association has developed educational information on their Web site, www. dressings-sauces. org, to answer some of the most often asked questions.

ATLANTA, GA (PRWEB) December 17, 2005

More good news about salad dressings and mayonnaise: they don’t contain trans fat. The Association for Dressings and Sauces, an international trade association of salad dressing and mayonnaise manufacturers and their suppliers, wants consumers to know there are lots of benefits to consuming salads and one of the best reasons is that salad dressings and mayonnaise are, and have always been, trans fat free.

To help educate consumers about trans fat, the Association has developed educational information on their Web site, www. dressings-sauces. org, to answer some of the most often asked questions.

What are trans fats?

Trans fats are unsaturated fatty acids formed when natural, liquid vegetable oils are processed to make them more solid or more stable. This processing is called hydrogenation. Trans fats also occur naturally in low amounts in some foods.

Do mayonnaise and salad dressings contain trans fat?

Trans fats are not found in mayonnaise or the vast majority of salad dressings. Natural, liquid vegetable oils versus partially hydrogenated oils are a primary ingredient in salad dressings, such as soybean, canola, corn, olive, safflower and sunflower oils. These liquid vegetable oils are naturally lower in saturated fats and are trans-fat free. Other ingredients used in some salad dressings contribute only miniscule, if any, amounts of trans fats. So load up on healthy salads and sandwiches for the holidays and as part of your New Year's resolutions and don’t hold the dressing or the mayo.

For more information or to request an informative new brochure about the health benefits of salad dressings and sauces, “The Good News About Salad Dressings and Sauces,” please visit the Association for Dressings and Sauces’ Web site at www. dressings-sauces. org.

The Association for Dressings and Sauces is an international trade association representing the manufacturers of salad dressings and condiment sauces and the suppliers to that industry.

Universal Background Screening Obtains Technical Certification from the HR-XML Consortium

Universal Background Screening Obtains Technical Certification from the HR-XML Consortium

Universal Background Screening announced today that the company's Universal Web Services. NET™ platform has been certified by the HR-XML Consortium's HRcertify program.

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) October 27, 2008

Universal Background Screening announced today that the company's Universal Web Services. NET™ platform has been certified by the HR-XML Consortium's HRcertify program.

The HR-XML Consortium develops and publishes data exchange standards that allow organizations to reduce the time and expense required to implement an integrated HR solution. These standards provide a common language for companies to exchange data without having to establish, engineer, and implement many separate interchange mechanisms and data formats.

"We congratulate Universal Background Screening for achieving HR-XML Consortium certification," said Romuald Restout, HR-XML Consortium President. "Compliance with open standards has become an important factor in the procurement of HR and background screening solutions for forward-thinking Human Resource organizations. Universal Background Screening's adherence and certification to these standards demonstrates that it is a technology leader and is ready to integrate in a flexible manner with customers and partners," Restout remarked.

Universal Background Screening is an Executive Member of the HR-XML Consortium and one of only sixteen background screening companies to be awarded the certification. The company's certified solution also joins the ranks of market-leading Human Resources and Applicant Tracking software providers, including Kenexa/BrassRing, Kronos, Lawson, Oracle, Peopleclick, Taleo and Unicru.

"Universal Background Screening is honored to be among this elite group of HR-XML certified software and service providers," said Ryan Krostue, Chief Executive Officer of Universal Background Screening. "With over 70 successful XML integrations in production, our customers have benefited from a more efficient ordering process, improved accuracy and decreased turnaround time. We look forward to expanding these integrated solutions with customers and partners who share our commitment to the HR-XML standards."

Universal Web Services. NET empowers the company's clients and partners to automate the background screening process by transmitting background check requests in a secure, automated fashion. Depending on client needs, the request may contain all necessary data to initiate an order. Or, Universal may automatically append the order to include additional components, such as criminal searches in locations based on a Social Security Trace. Alternatively, the data can be stored in a "draft" format that allows the user to modify and then submit the background check order through Universal's web-based application.

Upon completion of a background check request, Universal Web Services. NET returns an HR-XML compliant report to the client's Web Service in either a summary or detailed format. Users may also choose to receive real-time order status notifications via email or text message.

Universal Web Sevices. NET supports the following services: Social Security Address/Alias Trace and SSNsight Validation; Criminal and Civil Court Searches in local, County, State and Federal jurisdictions; Credit Reports; Driving Records (MVR); Employment, Education, Reference and Professional License/Certification Verifications; USA CriminalSearch, USA OffenderSearch and USA SecuritySearch databases; OFAC, HHS OIG and GSA EPLS sanction checks; Drug Screening/Occupational Health, Worker's Compensation and Employee Exit Interviews.

Acai Plus was developed by a professional team of formulators and scientists, who have more than 20 years experience in the development of nutritional drinks and products. The response from doctors, networkers, parents, athletes, seniors and even teenagers who have tried this incredible product is: They love it and don't want to go a day without it.

Alexandria, VA (PRWEB) September 12, 2006

Acai Plus was developed by a professional team of formulators and scientists, who have more than 20 years experience in the development of nutritional drinks and products. The response from doctors, networkers, parents, athletes, seniors and even teenagers who have tried this incredible product is: They love it and don't want to go a day without it.

One of the three key ingredients of Acai Plus is the Acai berry. For centuries, people of Brazil's Northern Amazon region have touted this legendary berry as an antidote for numerous ailments. Today, modern science has validated the absolutely remarkable wellness benefits of the Acai fruit.

Dr. Nicholas Perricone, M. D., a recognized authority on anti-aging, in his book "The Perricone Promise," named the Acai berry as being the World's #1 Superfood. He also called the Acai berry one of the most nutritious and powerful anti-aging foods in the world today.

Studies show that Acai has up to 10 to 33 times the antioxidant content as red wine grapes. The Brazillian Acai Berry (Ah-sci-ee) is considered to have the best nutritional value of any fruit on earth.

It has recently been featured on TV on "Oprah Winfrey", NBC's "The Today Show", and also been featured in such media outlets as The Wall Street Journal, Vogue, Men's Health Journal, The Washington Post, Sports Illustrated for Women, Time Magazine and The New York Times.

The second key ingredient of Acai Plus is the Mangosteen, Latin name: (Garcinia Mangostana) is a tropical evergreen tree. It is believed to have originated in the Sunda Islands and the Moluccas. It is native to Southeast Asia. In Asia, the Mangosteen fruit, with it's hard, reddish-brown rind and sweet juicy pulp, is known as the "Queen of Fruits".

The outer shell of the fruit (pericarp) is a rather hard texture. Inside the shell is a very pale, fleshy fruit.

Research shows the Mangosteen Fruit possesses potent antioxidant properties that may help maintain intestinal health, strengthen the immune system, neutralize free radicals, help support cartilage and joint function, and promote a healthy respiratory system.

For hundreds of years, the people of Southeast Asia have used the Mangosteen, especially the rind, to ward off and treat infections, reduct pain, control fever and treat various other ailments. Dried fruits are shipped from Singapore to Calcutta and to China for medicinal uses. The sliced and dried rind is powdered and administered to overcome dysentery. Made into an ointment, it is applied on eczema and other skin disorders.

The third key ingredient of Acai Plus, the Goji Berry, is being called the World's Most Powerful Anti-Aging Food. Goji has been eaten locally in the Himalayan and Tibetan regions for centuries and is celebrated in festivals. The Goji fruit is nicknamed the "happy berry" because of the sense of well being it is said to induce.

Goji Berries and Lycium Bark play an important role in traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), where they are believed to enhance immune system function, help eyesight, protect the liver, boost sperm production, and improve circulation and longevity, among other effects. In TCM terms, Goji Berries are sweet in taste and neutral in nature; they act on the liver, lung, and kidney channels and enrich yin. Goji Berries are nutritionally rich, containing Beta-carotene, Vitamins C, B1, B2, and other vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and amino acids.

The revolutionary Acai Plus product is being marketed through network marketing, offering distributors a very rewarding Pay Plan, including fast start bonuses, Matching Bonuses on all 4th level Members, 3x4 matrix commissions with no sponsoring requirement as well as company profit sharing pools. Biotrue Announces Collaborative Data Management System for Biomedical Researchers Now Available on Apple Mac OS X Server

Biotrue today announced the commercial availability of its Collaborative Data Management System (CDMS) for AppleÂ’s Mac OS X Server. The CDMS is an effective, easy-to-use solution to the data management challenges presented by leading-edge life sciences research.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) March 14, 2005 -

– Biotrue today announced the commercial availability of its Collaborative Data Management System (CDMS) for Apple’s Mac OS X Server. The CDMS is an effective, easy-to-use solution to the data management challenges presented by leading-edge life sciences research.

The CDMS allows biomedical researchers to store, manage, protect, retrieve and share data from practically any modern instrument system or computer workstation. BiotrueÂ’s intuitive and convenient browser-accessed, cross-platform system improves researchersÂ’ productivity, speeding research progress in both academic and commercial laboratories.

“While the National Institutes of Health supported the development of the CDMS as a cost-effective solution on Linux, scientists have long preferred the Mac platform,” said Antony Chiang, Biotrue’s co-founder and CEO. “The powerful combination of our CDMS running on Mac OS X Server allows scientists to focus on research and development, instead of looking for data and managing servers.”

“Apple has a strong presence in the science and biotech industries and researchers are increasingly choosing the power, stability and ease-of-use of Mac OS X Server,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “Biotrue’s Collaborative Data Management System is an excellent example of an application that uses Apple innovation to advance scientific research.”

Biotrue developed the CDMS in response to biomedical researchersÂ’ needs. Scientists at globally prominent research facilities, including University of California, San Francisco, The J. David Gladstone Institutes, the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and San Francisco General Hospital, consulted in the development of the CDMS, participated as beta users and now use the CDMS in production. Current customers include laboratories at Bristol-Myers Squibb, Caltech, GlaxoSmithKline, Stanford University, UT Southwestern Medical Center

And additional labs at UCSF.

Exclusive New Compound Eliminates Unseen Dangers Living in New or Used Spas

Exclusive New Compound Eliminates Unseen Dangers Living in New or Used Spas

Exposed cautions about what lives in the plumbing of spas and jetted baths prove that the biofilm should not be ignored just because you cannot see it. Finally, an exclusive safe compound has become available that actually attacks the biofilm at a molecular level and removes it from the interior plumbing.

Olympia, WA (PRWEB) November 13, 2007

Growing inside the plumbing of a hot tub spa lives biofilm, the slimy stuff that allows millions of tiny bacteria, viruses, and mold to breed. Over time these organisms multiply by the millions, clogging up the pipes and wreaking havoc in the spa. Existing cleaners on the market are virtually ineffective against biofilm. After years of research David Williams, the CEO and owner of The Spa Depot has found an industry break through with an exclusive solution, Spa System Flush. It contains no enzymes, alcohol, or detergent and is non-toxic.

Designed specifically to break down biofilm on a molecular level, the base of Spa System Flush does just that. With in-depth testing of this exclusively developed compound, the results were astounding. This product works amazingly well at cleaning the interior of the plumbing of a hot tub. Spa System Flush is especially necessary for buyers of a previously owned spa. In just 1 to 3 uses of Spa System Flush, all the old biofilm from the previous owner is gone.

Biofilm clings to the plumbing, breaks off, and spreads to all available surfaces. CEO David Williams says, "I wanted something that would truly remove it all. These potentially harmful pathogens can become airborne by jet circulation and pose health risks to bathers of jetted spas and whirlpool baths." Biofilm is known to cause a number of microbial infections such as urinary tract, middle ear infections, and more.

A bonus to ridding spa plumbing of biofilm, Spa System Flush also breaks down calcium buildup on jets, heater elements, and the water line of the spa or jetted bath. Calcium deposits on a heater element cause poor heat transfer from element to water and will cause the element to over heat and burn out over time.

"The effectiveness and convenience of Spa System Flush is unmatched by any other product currently on the market." Says CEO David Williams. "Use is easy. Right before draining the spa add Spa System Flush, take the filter out and run the spa. An accumulation of biofilm and calcium deposits will appear on the surface of the water. Then drain the matter along with the old spa water. Put a wet/dry vacuum up to the spa's plumbing and suck out the gunk. Refill the spa, and an increase in circulation is immediately noticeable." The Spa Depot's research has paid off, giving people peace of mind knowing there is no harmful bacteria dwelling in their spa or bath, and that's priceless.

Spa System Flush is economical to use and is available through The Spa Depot, an online retailer of spas, spa covers, and spa supplies. The Spa Depot was founded in 1997 with a promise to offer high quality hot tubs and spa supplies at the best price, to provide a great source of technical information, with fast, friendly customer service. Free, live technical assistance and customer service with the new On-Line Chat is also available. Find The Spa Depot at www. spadepot. com or call (800) 823-3638.

Hospital Reduces Injury, Promotes Awareness with “Safe Lifting Environment” Campaign

Hospital Reduces Injury, Promotes Awareness with “Safe Lifting Environment” Campaign

Staff injuries are being reduced at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY, thanks to an innovative, national, “Safe Lifting Environment” campaign that promotes the safe movement and handling of patients as a public service to the healthcare industry.

Rochester, N. Y. and Franklin, Mass. (PRWEB) May 15, 2006

Staff injuries are being reduced at Highland Hospital in Rochester, NY, thanks to an innovative, national, “Safe Lifting Environment” campaign that promotes the safe movement and handling of patients as a public service to the healthcare industry.

After suffering an injury last year while moving a patient, Tanya Walsh, RN, coordinator of the No Lift Protocol at Highland Hospital, became concerned that other nurses might also injure themselves while working with patients.

Now, Walsh is spearheading an effort to raise patient lifting and safety awareness with staff nurses, and for help in her efforts she is utilizing the resources of the Safe Lifting Environment (www. safeliftingenvironment. com) campaign.

It all starts with education, says Walsh, and without it a nurse can find herself in a difficult situation.

“In nursing schools, you are taught to use good body mechanics and limited use of lifting equipment to prevent injury,” said Walsh. “You aren’t taught all the core lifting components, partly because the new technologies today are making the old ways of lifting patients obsolete.”

With the rise of patient obesity and the fast pace of the hospital, injuries can happen easily when nurses attempt to lift and reposition patients without help – from other nurses or with the proper equipment.

“In 2005 alone, there were 18 nurses on my unit that suffered from lifting injuries and at around $100,000 per claim, the administration was open to a change,” Walsh said.

So she set out to create a No Lift Protocol designed to decrease caregiver injury and promote independence of the patient population at Highland Hospital.

“First,” said Walsh, “we chose to implement safe lifting techniques with our staff. We promote the use of patient lifts, plastic sheets and repositioning devices to move patients - and we try to work as a team as much as possible, even when we’re in a rush.”

With a significant decrease in injuries for the first quarter of 2006, and only one injury noted since implementing the No Lift Protocol, Walsh is ready to extend her efforts and make a difference for more nurses in the healthcare profession.

“By using the Safe Lifting Environment materials, available at www. safeliftingenvironment. com, I was able to further promote awareness of our own No Lift Protocol. I am utilizing the injury statistics as part of my program research, and we are raising awareness by using the safe lifting decals in conjunction with our No Lift Protocol,” said Walsh.

With initial program success, the hospital administration is looking to Tanya to spread the No Lift Protocol throughout the facility.

“If we can make nursing conditions everywhere better and reduce the risk for injury,” stated Walsh, “then maybe we won’t have such a nursing shortage and we will be able to recruit more to our profession – because this truly is a rewarding career.”

The Safe Lifting Environment campaign is a non-profit, pro-bono campaign sponsored by Liko, Inc., and is designed to raise awareness of safe lifting in the healthcare industry. The campaign elements include a “flash” animation for web sites, educational materials with injury statistics, graphic elements, as well as suggestions for common usage. For more information, or to order a starter kit, visit www. safeliftingenvironment. com.

Petplan Pet Health Insurance Company Approved for Business in New York and Connecticut

World's Most Popular Pet Insurance Provider Stands Out for Coverage of Hereditary Conditions in Purebred Pets

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) October 29, 2008

Petplan (http://www. gopetplan. com/), the world's leading and most respected pet health insurance (http://www. gopetplan. com/) provider, operating in 46 states in the U. S., is now available to pet parents in New York and Connecticut. The New York and Connecticut Insurance Departments have given the green light to Petplan to enter the rapidly expanding market for health insurance for cats and dogs, effective immediately.

Petplan covers 40% of insured pets in the UK and was launched in Philadelphia two years ago. Chaired by Vernon W Hill II (http://www. gopetplan. com/Petplan_Pet_Insurance_Vernon_Hill. pdf), famous for founding and growing Cherry Hill, N. J.-based Commerce Bank into one of the most successful banks of the decade, Petplan has grown rapidly and, according to the independent website www. petinsurancereview. com], is already the nation's #1 rated pet health insurance provider in customer satisfaction due to exceptional customer service, unique customizable policies and extensive coverage that includes hereditary conditions. The market for pet insurance (http://www. gopetplan. com/) has grown in recent years as veterinary fees increase and more sophisticated, expensive medical treatments have become available for pets.

Petplan has no age restrictions in its policies and will insure newly enrolling cats and dogs of any age. "There are very few companies in the US that will provide comprehensive accident and illness coverage for older pets, and it was a niche we are excited to fill" says Natasha Ashton, co-founder of Petplan. "This significant enhancement to our market-leading coverage has already been embraced in New York and Connecticut, and the company has been inundated with applications since our launch."

· It is estimated that there are over two-and-a-half million dogs and four million cats in New York. Fewer than 100,000 of them currently have health insurance.
· It is estimated that there are 518,000 pet dogs and 788,000 cats in Connecticut. Fewer than one percent of them currently have health insurance.
· According to the American Pet Products Association, Americans spend in excess of $42 billion on their pets; however, only less than half of 1% of pet owners has pet insurance, according to Petplan Pet Insurance. This translates to only about 750,000 insured pets out of the approximately 160 million dogs and cats living in the U. S. (In Great Britain, about 20% of pet owners carry insurance).

Vibrational Healing Expert Releases New Product-Triangle Formula for Success

Vibrational Healing Expert Releases New Product-Triangle Formula for Success

Teri Rose, Vibrational Healing Expert, announces her newest audio coaching program Triangle Formula for Success. It provides scientific evidence and the logical conclusion that we have a creative spirit and the mental power to create a new reality individually and as a planet. And next in the program, using research from scientists, knowledge gained during a near death experience and years of experimentation, she shows exactly how to do that with a simple process for success with any goal.

Nashville, TN (PRWEB) September 24, 2009

Teri Rose had never heard of a near death experience, vibrational healing, vibrational medicine (http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/vibrational-medicine-stories/), or the quantum field. But as she headed down the highway with a friend to see her horses, she was about to learn their meaning firsthand. Suddenly a car turned in front of her. The impact sent her car airborne into a telephone pole, where it came to rest in a ditch.

Teri says, "I don't remember the sound of crunching metal or breaking glass. But I have never forgotten my near death experience (http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/teri_rose_near_death_experienc/) or what I was shown about vibrational healing, the power of love and the potential we have. I clearly saw the energetic connection we all share, which has recently been validated by science. And during it all, I was still very much myself and alive with one difference. I wasn't in a body anymore."

But Rose says that nothing about being dead fit with what she had been told. The experience brought her to one conclusion. She had been taught things that weren't necessarily true about the way life works. When she awoke in the hospital, she knew it was time to start doing some thinking and investigating on her own.

What she discovered seemed so unbelievable that for the most part, she kept it and her near death experience to herself for years after seeing the reaction she got from a few people.

In her experiments, she found that when she created something mentally and thought about it in a way that created specific energy, a distinct feeling, it would actually become real. Something would happen or appear that she knew was the result of her process. She began experimenting with mental energy and thoughts back in the 70's when there wasn't an internet or much attention given to the Law of Attraction (http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/law-of-attraction/).

Over 25 years, Rose analyzed the process, studied the components involved, compiled scientific studies, trained in vibrational medicine and life coaching, and founded Peace of Success Coaching. Thankfully, over time, many quantum physicists stepped forward with studies they had been afraid to share with the world for fear of losing credibility in the scientific community. Those studies provided evidence to support the idea that beliefs, emotions and intentions do cause an effect. A body of evidence that is referred to in Triangle Formula for Success (http://peaceofsuccess. com/vsl/triangle-formula-for-success/) indicates that a clearly defined goal or intention actually impacts the energy in the quantum field where we all share a connection. The science referred to is credible. It's repeatable and measurable.

Teri refers to her favorite quote by William James that says, "If you wish to upset the law that all crows are black, you mustn't seek to prove no crows are; it is enough to prove one single crow to be white." Triangle Formula for Success is intended to spotlight many white crows that everyone should know about. But more importantly, it provides simple steps for making practical use of them to improve life.

Teri says, "Vibrational healing (http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/vibrational-healing) isn't just about health. It applies to life-the amount of money that can be made, the kind of offers received, the kind of people that are attracted-everything. We live in a sea of energy that is alive and vibrating and the message sent into it must have focus and clarity in order to get something specific out of it."

Rose says "Many people dabble a little with mind movies, goal board, positive thinking and even vibrational medicine and then say it doesn't work when they don't get results they want." She adds, "That's like wanting a cake, getting some flour, adding some water, stirring and then saying cooking doesn't work!"

Triangle Formula for Success includes all of the pieces that people generally miss when attempting to work with the Law of Attraction. There is no feeling of confusion about what to do. The formula is easy to use, effective and can bring about a great amount of vibrational healing and clearing of distortions and blocks. When the distortions are gone, there is no limit to what can be achieved.

Receive free teleseminar training, thought provoking audio stories and an ebook that proves Teri Rose's point about the power of the mind. Sign up for Peace of Success Newsletter at http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/ (http://www. peaceofsuccess. com/)

Beautiful, strong and fit women from as far away as Norway, Sweden and Curacao, as well as from all the corners of the United States, shared a three day Power Fitness and Wellness Seminar that culminated in the Certification Ceremony of the world’s first 25 new JNL FUSION master trainers. On January 15, 2011, a group of 25 handpicked applicants met at the world renowned, waterfront Canyon Ranch Spa and Resort to learn the JNL FUSION method from none other than JNL herself. The week end started with a bang! JNL presented her new book, “The Fitness Model Diet” to a large, excited crowd at the Ocean Drive Magazine Book Signing Event and cocktail party on the beautiful moon lit veranda. JNL shared some wonderful excerpts and quotes from her new book, took photos with and signed autographs to her many fitness friends and fans.

The next morning it was time for the first work out as JNL led the women in a grueling upper body session in the stunning work out facility. The ladies were very challenged but excited as they got to experience, first hand, what the JNL FUSION method is all about! Invented and implemented by Jennifer Nicole Lee, this innovative method is a super effective, fat blasting, lean muscle building, energy releasing and rejuvenating total body work out that is taking the fitness and health industry by storm.

In the afternoon JNL led the group in a seminar that turned into a once in a lifetime event. In the evening, the ladies reconvened to enjoy a delicious, nutritious spa dinner in the beautifully decorated Canyon Ranch Restaurant. It was a festive, fun event, and the group was dressed stunningly for the occasion. Everyone was enjoying the time to network and share ideas and thoughts, to take pictures and to chat with JNL.

The last day of the program started with an intense, lower body work out. Again, JNL went above and beyond in her instruction of the class and the members were thoroughly exhausted but also exhilarated after the work out. FDA Makes Pro-Drug Industtry Shift

FDA Makes Pro-Drug Industtry Shift

University study finds the FDA is financially dependent on the brand name drug industry. Due to this "very strong" financial relationship, the drug industry has significant and increasing leverage over the FDA. The FDA can no longer be trusted to objectively safeguard and protect U. S. citizens.

La Verne, CA (PRWEB) March 16, 2005

A 2005 University of La Verne (ULV) School of Public Administration study concluded that the large sums of money paid yearly to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) by the brand name pharmaceutical manufacturers gives the drug industry financial leverage and influence over the FDA. Until the drug industry money or the strings attached to the money are eliminated, U. S. citizens should be extremely cautious and highly suspicious of FDA actions related to prescription drugs.

Lead researcher, Dr. Gary Lawson said, “The drug manufacturers are now paying for and receiving reduced regulatory oversight; special considerations; unique opportunities and unprecedented U. S. monopoly protection. At minimum, the FDA’s dependence on drug industry funding creates doubt and suspicion as to the agency’s motives, and at maximum, Americans who take a brand name prescription drug may be doing so at their own peril.”

In 1992, to speed up new drug approvals and eliminate a backlog of needed life-saving medications, Congress authorized the collection of drug industry fees for one five-year period. Although no new drug approval efficiencies were realized after year five, the law was extended twice. According to the ULV study, with each extension, the drug industry paid significantly higher fees, and then, used the higher fees as leverage to limit the FDAÂ’s ability to act as an objective consumer protection agency.

As the brand name drug industry acquired more financial leverage over the FDA, the ULV study showed that adverse drug reaction reports more than doubled. Americans have a 32% higher chance of experiencing a reportable adverse drug reaction. More deadly drugs were released in the U. S. first and stayed on the U. S. market longer. The costs of drugs to consumers skyrocketed. The FDA shifted its policy to protect the drug industryÂ’s U. S. monopoly. Off-label drug promotion was authorized. Direct to consumer advertising was authorized. The FDA significantly decreased other consumer protection services, and the FDA allowed the drug industry to set internal Agency objectives, goals, and FDA job descriptions.

Lawson said, “The FDA taking drug industry money is failed public policy. In exchange for saving taxpayers a few cents a month, U. S. citizens have increasingly become the worldÂ’s guinea pigs by testing newly released medications. An unethical partnership was created between the regulated and regulators. Regarding prescription drugs, U. S. citizens can no longer trust the FDA. Known deadly medications are given FDA approval. Few new breakthrough medications have been produced, and the well-being of Americans by the tens of millions have been jeopardized.”

The ULV study listed the following major findings:

· Taking drug industry money negatively impacts the FDA’s primary mission of protecting the health and safety of U. S. citizens. Therefore, Congress must immediately eliminate private industry fees paid directly to the FDA or eliminate the pro-drug industry strings attached to the money.

· Since the FDA started collecting drug industry money, the Agency has made changes that support the profit motives of the brand name drug industry and put Americans at risk.

· Drug industry money impedes the FDA’s ability to maintain the public trust, and compromises the Agency’s continued legitimacy as a viable, objective, consumer protection agency.

Based on a review of the findings of this important study, Dr. Suzanne Holmes, Faculty, School of Human Service, Capella University said, “U. S. citizens by the millions are taking newly released medicines and experiencing unintended, sometimes deadly, adverse drug reactions. Not only has the FDA abandoned its primary role of protecting American citizens, it is now supporting the brand name pharmaceutical industry in such a manner that the Agency has become, in essence, another well paid marketing arm.”

Lynne Torgerson is Set to Defeat Incumbent Congressman Keith Ellison

Lynne Torgerson is Set to Defeat Incumbent Congressman Keith Ellison

Lynne Torgerson is the first candidate to file in Minnesota's 5th Congressional District and is set to defeat incumbent Keith Ellison. Lynne is not your usual candidate and this is not politics as usual. She is neither a Democrat or a Republican; she is truly independent which lets her vote for the people not the parties.

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) October 6, 2010

Lynne Torgerson, a long time Minneapolis resident and attorney announced today her candidacy for the Minnesota 5th Congressional District. The 5th Congressional District is comprised of Minneapolis and a few of its surrounding suburbs.

Torgerson, a Stateswoman, her candidacy will “definitely not be politics as usual.” She is running independent, without any party affiliation. So, she definitely needs and is seeking your support. You can view her positions on various issues at her website http://www. torgersonforcongress. org.

Torgerson’s position is that she cannot be put in a box; she does not neatly fit into the two-party, Republican versus Democrat system. Depending on the issues, she could be a conservative, moderate, or liberal. Running in Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District as a ‘Stateswoman’ givers her the opportunity to address constituents on both sides of the isle, while forming new coalitions. That’s why the people of Minnesota’s 5CD should vote Torgerson for Congress in 2010.

Torgerson says she is grateful to live in the country that she says is the safest, most free, and most prosperous on earth. She believes in the American Dream. It is Torgerson’s desire that America and Americans be both prosperous and protected. She believes in a strong homeland security and keeping jobs in America. She would like to eliminate dependence on foreign oil, develop clean energy, but not develop nuclear energy. She is green with respect to the environment (and animals), and opposes cloning and genetically altered food. On social issues, her positions are consistent with the Catholic Church, such as life beginning at conception and traditional marriage, but also supports equal rights for women. She is also big on freedom of speech and freedom of religion, as established by the First Amendment to the United States Constitution. She also supports our ally Israel, and opposes Iran obtaining a nuclear weapon. She also supports the Second Amendment, health care reform of some sort, and restrictions on credit card companies. She opposes the auto bailout.

Torgerson seeks office to better continue the work she has done in and around Minnesota for over thirty-years, protecting constitutional rights, helping those in trouble, helping to turn problems around. Ms. Torgerson attended the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1985. She obtained degrees in Political Science and Psychology. Following college, Ms. Torgerson attended law school at William Mitchell College of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. There she was on Law Review and Moot Court. In 1990, she obtained her Law degree, graduating with honors.

After graduation from law school, Ms. Torgerson was a Law Clerk to the Honorable Ralph J. Geffen, United States Magistrate Judge, United States District Court, Central District of California, Los Angeles, California. Ms. Torgerson has had her own successful law practice downtown Minneapolis since 1995.

Ms. Torgerson is now running for Congress in the Fifth Congressional District, seeking to represent Minnesotans in the United States House of Representatives. Torgerson is running against incumbent Keith Ellison.

Susan Lark, MD Creates Formula to Naturally Treat Menopause Symptoms

Susan Lark, MD Creates Formula to Naturally Treat Menopause Symptoms

Susan Lark, MD, noted medical researcher, clinical nutritionist and women's health practitioner, has formulated a nutritional supplement called Harmony Hormone Balance for Women™, designed to eliminate unpleasant menopause symptoms, including hot flashes, night sweats, occasional sleeplessness, and vaginal dryness, naturally. Dr. Lark's Harmony formula is available exclusively through Doctors' Preferred, Inc. (DPI), a subsidiary of Healthy Directions, LLC, one of the largest North American direct-mail supplement distributors.

Potomac, MD (PRWEB) October 3, 2008

For the 6,000 U. S. women entering menopause each day (Source: North American Menopause Society), Harmony provides a fresh, new natural option to address their symptoms, according to Linda Werner, Vice President and General Manager of Women's Health at Healthy Directions.

"For the last 32 years, I've made it my personal crusade to research and find a safe, natural way to overcome the unpleasant symptoms of menopause," says Dr. Lark. "I've discovered eight specific nutrients women can take before, during, and after menopause that relieve those symptoms and I've put them together in my Harmony formula."

Harmony Hormone Balance for Women includes:
Klimadynon-- This patented form of black cohosh from Germany was used in a double-blind, placebo controlled trial of 40-to 60-year-old women. The women who received this form reported an 80% reduction in hot flashes. Melatonin --Your pineal gland releases the hormone melatonin at night, helping you fall asleep. However, around age 40, melatonin levels begin to decline. Studies suggest supplementing with 300 mcg of melatonin--the amount you'll find in Harmony--can help you sleep better at night. Indole 3-Carbinol (I3C) -- Often found in cruciferous vegetables, like broccoli and cabbage, I3C is one of the few natural substances that influence your hormone levels directly, helping to bring them back into balance. Several studies suggest taking an ample dose of I3C (at least 300 mg) helps your body properly metabolize the estrogen you're still making. Harmony gives women 300 mg of I3C, the research dose, so they can control the breakdown of estrogen in their bodies. Para-Aminobenzoic Acid (PABA)--One of the best ways to help slow down estrogen metabolism is with PABA. Science suggests higher PABA levels help to reduce hot flashes, insomnia, and mood swings.

"The nutrients in Harmony slow down the breakdown of estrogen in your liver, so you keep more of what you make," says Dr. Lark. "It's the next generation of menopause support."

Dr. Lark has devoted her career to raising awareness of women's health issues, such as PMS, obesity, hormone replacement therapy and osteoporosis. She pioneered the use of women's self-care treatments based on diet, nutrition, exercise and stress management, and has penned twelve books on women's health and healing. Her most recent title is Hormone Revolution.

Fort Myers, Fla. (Vocus/PRWEB) January 21, 2011

The Fort Myers Regional Partnership, Lee County’s Economic Development Office, announced today that the county has approved financial incentives totaling $140,000 with the State of Florida approving $160,000 for a total of $300,000 for 21st Century Oncology’s expansion within Lee County.

International Antioxidant Discovery From Olive Tree Leaves Outperforms Green Tea, Grape Seed and Vitamins C and E

International Antioxidant Discovery From Olive Tree Leaves Outperforms Green Tea, Grape Seed and Vitamins C and E

Olive Leaf Australia Pty Ltd has recently completed development of an extract from olive tree leaves which contains a powerful synergy of more than 12 polyphenolic antioxidants. With a broad range of applications these novel extracts are being quickly accepted into the natural medicine, cosmetic and functional food/beverage industries. Based primarily on word-of-mouth from impressed consumers, Australians are already paying $1 million a month to feel the health benefits of the EnvirOléa™ extracts.

(PRWEB) September 30, 2005

Brisbane, Australia (PRWEB) September 29th, 2005 – The search for eternal youth has eluded us all since well before King Tutankhamen but increasingly, scientists are turning to antioxidants to slow ageing and prevent degenerative diseases. An Australian company has just unlocked something which Egypt's Boy King overlooked.

After more than 30 years of olive growing, Ray and Julian Archer have put the final touches on their EnvirOléa™ system for growing, harvesting and extracting the healing compounds in Olea europaea leaves. Samples have been tested by Dr Lesley Stevenson's team at the Natural Products Pharmacology Unit at Southern Cross University in the product's first-ever antioxidant capacity tests. Dr Stevenson and her team are amazed at the results.

What did you discover? "We found that the EnvirOléa™ formulated extracts have an extremely high antioxidant capacity. They are almost twice as powerful as the famous natural antioxidant green tea extract and five times more powerful than Vitamin C." reported Dr Stevenson. "The EnvirOléa™ formulated extracts were also far more powerful at quenching the damaging free radicals than much-acclaimed antioxidants such as Grape Seed Extract and Vitamin E. It is a very exciting discovery. Olive Leaf Australia's EnvirOléa™ extract is in an antioxidant league of its own." said Dr Stevenson.

The breakthrough is great news for natural health care as antioxidants can be used in a wide range of medicines, health supplements, cosmetics, functional foods and drinks to help prevent advanced ageing and cell degradation and to assist in the prevention of a number of degenerative diseases.

Julian Archer of Olive Leaf Australia Pty Ltd described his reaction to the news. "I was totally astounded. We've been supplying our "Olive Leaf Australia" brand of extract to the Australian market for four years. We knew there was something very special about it because of the hundreds of success stories we receive from people who use it to dramatically improve their health. Based primarily on word-of-mouth, Australians alone are already spending $1 million a month on our extracts."

Where to from here? "Requests for our EnvirOléa™ extracts are arriving from natural medicine and health food manufacturers around the world. We're working with a team of doctors, cardiologists and professional researchers to start clinical trials on how our extracts can be tailored to relieve a range of serious health conditions."

Internationally-renowned cardiologist and Mediterranean diet specialist Dr David Colquhoun commented, "This is a truly significant discovery. There are already more than forty completed studies on the effects of olive leaf extract on blood pressure, cholesterol, respiratory problems and immune deficiencies. You don't need to be a doctor to know that a product with hundreds of times the antioxidant power of extra virgin olive oil is going to be very good for keeping cells young and healthy."

HCG Diet Direct Extends Spooky Secret Deal for Fast Weight Loss Plan in Celebration of Halloween

HCG Diet Direct Extends Spooky Secret Deal for Fast Weight Loss Plan in Celebration of Halloween

HCG Diet Direct Extends Spooky Secret Deal for fast weight loss plan in celebration of Halloween.

Phoenix, AZ (Vocus) November 2, 2010

HCG Diet Direct offers a spooky, secret deal for a fast weight loss plan in celebration of Halloween. Dieters or potential dieters who want to take advantage of the deal and get on a fast weight loss plan of their own can look for HCG Diet Direct's special Halloween HCG logo on the company's website on or around October 31, 2010. Individuals who are able to find the sneaky Halloween logo on the HCG Diet Direct website will be able to click on it and save a "scary" amount of cash when they purchase.

Dr. J. Ronald Willis of HCG Diet Direct said, "This is the prime time for extreme dieting. The number of interested dieters tend to go up before summer, in the mid to late fall and around New Years."

The number of individuals interested in dieting and weight loss increase for obvious reasons in late spring and post-New Years. But some are unaware of the triggers for dieting that result in increases in dieters in mid to late fall.

1. Halloween: it's the one time of year when many adults get to dress up out of character and a large portion of them want to "look good" while they're at it.

2. The impending holidays: Many dieters are aware of the fact that they have gained weight in years past as they celebrate the traditional "big" holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa...whatever the preference of the individual they all fall in late fall/winter). Individuals who need to lose weight often feel that they have to do it before they gain more during the "holidays."

3. School schedule: most children are still on the conventional schedule for school that has them begin their year's instruction in the fall. This leaves many adults "putting off" the diet they discovered was necessary during the summer months until the kids are "back in school."

Homeopathic HCG weight loss formula is the basis for a fast weight loss plan that can be used to achieve drastic weight loss without invasive procedures and with no known HCG diet side effects. It is one of the most healthy fast weight loss plans. When dieters buy HCG they follow the included protocol. Oral HCG drops are taken three times daily and paired with a careful eating plan. The results of the standard 26-30 day program can provide an average of 1 to 2 pounds of weight loss per day.
