Entrepreneur Makes Online Life Sweet for Canadians

Entrepreneur Makes Online Life Sweet for Canadians

Founds successful Trend Spotting Lifestyle Guide in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver and Calgary

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) September 27, 2006

Joanna Track never knew success could taste so sweet. She is the head of Sweetspot. ca, Canada’s first online trend spotting lifestyle guide of its kind, keeping subscribers and visitors in-the-know and up-to-date on all things fun, fashionable and just plain fabulous in their city and across the country.

In fact the online venture is so sweet, Rogers Publishing recently acquired a minority interest in her unique website, providing an encouraging return on a business that started in a one bedroom apartment.

The idea for Sweetspot. ca started back in 2004. Track spent a year in New York as an account director at Ogilvy ad agency and became familiar with an online newsletter that helped her navigate through the city. Upon her return to Canada, she brainstormed ideas similar to the NY model, but was determined to create something distinctly Canadian (understanding that the audience and their buying habits are quite different this side of the border) and that's how Sweetspot was born.

Now Sweetspot. ca has several employees and services in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, and most recently in Calgary.

As a number of magazines are shutting down their print publications and switching to a web presence, it appears that Track herself is a trendsetter. She has identified her target market and simplified information for them. In fact, a June 2006 survey indicates that 85% of respondants are telling their friends about Sweetspot. ca.

"It was the Ogilvy experience that gave me such a great appreciation for brands and the strength they have to make or break a business," says Track, who originally majored in Math, but also holds an MBA. Naturally gifted with numbers, Joanna has now married her business acumen with her talent for marketing and strategy gleaned from working in the ad business to create Cananda’s latest online success story.

In spring 2006, Sweetspot. ca launched the first of its many planned spin-off projects, Sweetmama. ca – a weekly newsletter keeping subscribers on top of all that is fabulous for moms and kids. The Sweetspot. ca website will soon expand further to include greater and richer national and local editorial content on fashion and beauty, tips from top experts, event listings, entertainment and cultural happenings, Top Five must-haves for everything you can think of, feature stories and more.

More Canadian city sites are planned for launch in the next year making Track one of the sweetest entrepreneurs coming to your town.

About www. Sweetspot. ca

Keeping Summer Beauty Deep Into Fall

Keeping Summer Beauty Deep Into Fall

Award-winning Le Jardin Day Spa offers tips to maintain a healthful summer glow long into fall.

Collegeville, PA (PRWEB) August 6, 2008

After what seems like a flash, summer is nearly over. How can you make the feeling last? Keep your color! Le Jardin Day Spa and Salon (www. spalejardin. com), the most award-winning and credentialed spa in the Philadelphia-area, today announced tips for maintaining your summer color. Le Jardin voted a Top Day Spa in Montgomery County, PA five years in a row suggests ten things you can do today to keep summer hair, skin and nails healthy and youthful deep into fall.

1. Let Skin Breathe: Try to avoid using products with heavy filters and pore-clogging ingredients during the harsh days of summer. Mineral makeup allows skin to breathe on humid days. It acts as a chemical-free sun block, naturally shielding the skin against damaging UV light.

2. Bronze on the Sun: A light bronzer helps to extend your tan and maintain a healthy glow well into the chilly days of fall.

3. Re-direct Imperfection: Light diffusing make up deflects light away from the fine lines and wrinkles created by the unkind rays of the summer sun, or after cosmetic surgery, chemical peels, laser treatments, or for individuals who suffer from rosacea, acne, hyperpigmentation and other skin conditions. Avielle, Le Jardin's exclusive new line, offers a full range of light diffusing cosmetics.

4. Add Some Pop: Add some color to your toe and finger nails. A pop of summer color will make your skin look fresh and young. Deep reds, pinks and plums are great transition colors… they can take you from summer to fall seamlessly.

5. Don't Underestimate a Top Coat: Le Jardin's expert nail technicians recommend polishing your toes with a top coat of clear enamel before you head out to the beach on Labor Day weekend. This added layer of polish will protect your pedicure from the abrasive nature of sand and keep your color steadfast in to September.

6. SPF for Your Hair: Protect hair color with shampoo and conditioner that contains UV sunscreen, such as L'Oreal Sublime. It protects hair from harmful rays, moisturizes and resists fadeout to keep color looking vibrant way in to fall. Ask your stylist for a list of products that contain an SPF.

7. Condition All Day: Le Jardin suggests that you generously apply a leave-in conditioner, such as Icon-Sultry, to damp hair immediately after swimming or while sun-bathing to extend your color, and to prevent split ends.

8. Sunless Tanning: All self-tanners are not created equal. Regardless of how you feel about the sun… summer means we bare more skin. Along with the Good Housekeeping Institute, Le Jardin recommends using Fake Bake Self Tanning Crème.

9. Can't Bear the Heat: Avoid using very hot water when showering or washing your hair. Warm water always works best to dissolve soap and shampoo; hot water can actually make your hair limp and dry out your skin. In fact, try rinsing your hair with cool water when you're finished with your shower, it locks in a great shine and helps you maintain skin moisture.

10. Wrap-Up Summer Skin: The benefits from massages and body wraps, from Hot Stone to Sea Salt and Seaweed Glows, are endless and can keep you feeling like it is summer all year long. Massage and body wraps can reduce water retention, the appearance of cellulite, tension and muscle pain, as well as increase oxygen and blood flow throughout the body - keeping you feeling fresh, healthy, toned and invigorated throughout the year.

Le Jardin offers these tips, as well as free beauty consultations and complimentary health seminars to guests seeking wellness advice, products or services. Avielle, the spa's premiere line of exclusive mineral cosmetics, completes Le Jardin's wellness package.

Le Jardin strives, seven days a week, to provide the local community with a relaxing and elegant environment from which to receive the highest quality aesthetic services available. They have accomplished this by choosing exceptionally talented, certified professionals to perform state-of-the-art treatments which unify the body, mind and spirit. IntelliSoft Group Helping to Meet the Challenges of OPPE/FPPE in Medical Credentialing

Medical credentialing software by IntelliSoft Group, contains sophisticated functionality in automated credentialing, to help you meet the Joint Commission's regulations for OPPE and FPPE compliance.

Nashua, NH (Vocus) June 3, 2009

The Joint Commission recently introduced revised credentialing medical credentialing software (http://www. intellisoftgroup. com) and privileging standards. These revisions are tied directly to the privileges being sought by and granted to practitioners. The six areas of ”General Competency” as developed by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) are used in the ongoing monitoring and measurement of the quality of the practitioner’s professional practice.

Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) allows the organized medical staff to focus its evaluation on specific aspects of a practitioner’s performance. It is used as a period of time which confirmation must be obtained, in relation to the practitioner’s competency http://www. intellisoftgroup. com (http://www. intellisoftgroup. com) physican credentialing (http://www. intellisoftgroup. com) within the organization’s setting, and for questions relating to a practitioner’s professional practice during the course of the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE).

Practitioners are evaluated when privileges are initially granted, then every two years thereafter. The OPPE process requires medical staff to conduct ongoing evaluations of each practitioner’s professional performance. This process allows for early discovery of problems related to a practitioner, and provides a more efficient privilege renewal process based on actual evidence.

Café Prevention Introduces New Obesity and Tobacco Prevention Products

Café Prevention Introduces New Obesity and Tobacco Prevention Products

CaféPrevention. com is pleased to announce two new products - the Fit for the Future Toolkit aimed at reducing obesity among children, and the Smoking Makes Me Ugly program geared towards tobacco prevention education.

Springfield, MO (PRWEB) June 1, 2009

CafePrevention. com announces the addition of two exciting, affordable, and new prevention products - the Fit for the Future Toolkit for preschoolers and childcare providers and the tobacco education resource, Smoking Makes Me Ugly program, for middle school students.

In an effort to provide exceptional service, Community Partnership will do their best to accommodate those who need the prevention education resource order before June 30 for fiscal year deadlines.

Community Partnership has developed their business around creating and supplying parents, schools, agencies and communities around the globe with a wide variety of tested and innovative prevention strategies and materials. Each product is both educational and eye-catching, and will engage the target audience, whether they are pre-schoolers, teens or adults.

The Fit for the Future Toolkit is designed for children ages 3-5 and childcare providers. The childhood obesity rate for children in this age group has risen to 12.4%, and childcare providers offer the perfect setting to teach about, and encourage, healthy eating and physical activity habits. The kit includes a teacher's manual, training DVD, children's books, a movement CD, as well as games and activities to support children making healthy choices.

Comments from childcare teachers have been extremely positive, and evaluations indicate the children are remembering what they learn and the cooks are changing what they serve.

For middle school students, Community Partnership is proud to unveil the Smoking Makes Me Ugly DVD, a comprehensive youth tobacco prevention program. The target ages of 10-12 years old were chosen, as these are the ages the CDC has identified as at risk to begin tobacco use.

Physicians, educators and students themselves were responsible for the content of the interactive DVD, and features include an animated tour of the body, hosted by Cig Free, the talking cigarette, showing how smoking affects teens; interactive lessons, including what smoking does to the outward appearance, and accompanying handouts and worksheets for teachers and students.

Smoking Makes Me Ugly is a new approach to an old problem and has been enthusiastically received by teachers and student alike. Teachers report the tobacco education and prevention DVD is unique and unmatched by any other in its approach to educating middle school youth about the hazards of smoking.

Both the Fit for the Future Toolkit and Smoking Makes Me Ugly DVD are designed to deliver critical information in an engaging and affordable format. CafePrevention. com is a community's source for high quality prevention materials designed to improve the health and well being of youth.

Café Prevention is full of postcards, games, bookmarks, door hangers, wallet cards and posters on substances of abuse and teen resiliency. Many have chosen our large postcard format over brochures, as they find it easier to read and it can be mailed or handed out. Pet Obesity Expanding in US

Pet Obesity Expanding in US

A new nationwide study indicates that pet obesity continues to expand. According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP), almost half of the nation's dogs and cats are now overweight or obese. The group conducted the National Pet Obesity Awareness Day study in October 2007 and found 43% of all dogs and 53% of all cats were classified as overweight or obese by a veterinary healthcare provider; 10% of all dogs and 19% of all cats were classified as obese.

Calabash, NC (PRWEB) July 14, 2008

A new nationwide study indicates that pet obesity continues to expand. According to the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention (APOP), almost half of the nation's dogs and cats are now overweight or obese. The group conducted the National Pet Obesity Awareness Day study in October 2007 and found 43% of all dogs and 53% of all cats were classified as overweight or obese by a veterinary healthcare provider; 10% of all dogs and 19% of all cats were classified as obese.

"The startling fact was the number of obese cats," comments the study's lead investigator and founder of APOP, Dr. Ernie Ward. "We knew from a pilot study completed in early 2007 that obese cats were the fastest growing segment. It is alarming that almost one-in-five US cats is now clinically obese. This means we will continue to see an increase in cases of type 2 diabetes, hypertension, and other weight-related diseases."

The study also looked into pet owners' assessment of their dog's or cat's weight. "We found that the majority of pet owners understand that their pet is too heavy," notes Dr. Ward. In fact, 53% of dog owners with overweight or obese canines classified their dog correctly and 66% of cat owners with flabby felines stated that their cat was overweight or obese. "As we questioned pet owners further, we discovered that many of them had never been told that their dog or cat needed to shed a few pounds. I believe that in order to win the war on obesity it must begin with bilateral communication: pet owners need to ask if their pet is too heavy and veterinarians need to tell owners when a pet is overweight."

According to APOP estimates, this study indicates that as many as 32 million dogs and 46 million cats in the US are overweight or obese. Almost 8 million dogs and 17 million cats are thought to be obese.

"Carrying a little extra weight isn't a stable condition that's simply annoying or unsightly. Fat is biologically active tissue and an excess amount negatively impacts almost every body system," states Dr. Ward. "We're in real danger of raising an entire generation of pets that will live a shorter life expectancy than the dogs and cats we enjoyed as children."

The nationwide study was conducted in 98 small animal veterinary clinics and included 704 dogs and 283 cats.

About APOP and Dr. Ward:
The Association for Pet Obesity Prevention is an independent organization not associated with any veterinary pharmaceutical, pet food, or other veterinary industry organization. Dr. Ernie Ward is a licensed veterinarian, certified personal trainer, and USA Triathlon accredited coach. He and APOP help people and pets lose weight and sustain a healthy lifestyle by creating parallel weight loss and lifestyle programs.

Hearing Aid Plan Announced for Teachers

Hearing Aid Plan Announced for Teachers

Hearing aids will be provided to teachers and school system employees who come to the Hearing Haven Audiology Clinics in the Dallas and Houston Texas area before the end of 2009, under a new subscription plan designed especially for teachers. The plan, "Hearing For Life", is better than a cell phone plan. Digital hearing aids are provided to subscribers who join a "hearing health club" for a monthy fee. New hearing aids are provided every 48 months to active subscribers.

Dallas, Texas (PRWEB) October 18, 2009

Teachers and school system employees in the Dallas and Houston, Texas areas are now eligible for a hearing aid plan that will make hearing aids available with a monthly subscription, under the "Hearing for Life" plan from Hearing Haven LLC.

Under the Teachers Hearing for Life plan, any employee of the school system qualifies for a hearing evaluation at Hearing Haven's audiology clinic in Dallas (Carrollton) and Houston. If they do have a hearing loss, they are eligible to be fit with digital hearing aids, and receive new hearing aids every 48 months, as well as batteries, warranties, service and adjustments, all for one monthly subscription fee.

Over 31 million people in America have hearing loss. Only around 7 million of them wear hearing aids. The cost of hearing aids is often thousands of dollars, which usually needs to be paid in advance. Many people in the present economic environment are not able to afford them, especially salaried teachers, who often have no hearing aid coverage as part of their health plan.
Monthly payments are comparable to the cost of a cell phone - $97 per month for two digital hearing aids, $67 per month for one.

New hearing aids are provided every 48 months at no additional cost for those who renew their subscription.

There is a 30 day trial period.

The plan can be cancelled at any time, upon return of the hearing aids, with no early termination fee.

After 48 months, the hearing aids belong to the subscriber.

Hearing evaluations and fitting are provided.

Repairs, adjustments, and other services are also included.

Loss and damage protection is provided during the first two years.

Batteries are provided at no cost to current subscribers.

Hearing aids are available from a variety of respected manufacturers.

To contact Hearing Haven LLC, call 888-412-3337, or visit the Teachers Hearing for Life Plan (http://www. hearingaidstexas. com/) blog.

National Retirement Planning Month Celebrates Independence Day with Financial Freedom

National Retirement Planning Month Celebrates Independence Day with Financial Freedom

July is now National Retirement Planning Month (NRPM) announces America's Retirement Strategist, Bill Losey. Losey is kicking off the National Retirement Planning Month by conducting free educational teleseminars with retirement and financial planning experts.

Wilton, NY (PRWEB) July 10, 2007

Retirement planning is usually at the bottom of everyone's long list of things to do, according to Bill Losey. But like any important task, "It needs to go on your calendar, or it's not going to get done," he advises.

"By creating National Retirement Planning Month (http://www. nationalretirementplanningmonth. blogspot. com) we'll have an annual event to draw attention to this important topic, and get it moved from the To Do list to an Annual Checkup every July. Once people focus on the topic, it will become less painful," Losey adds.

Losey created National Retirement Planning Month after hearing the concerns of the 5000 subscribers to his ezine, Retirement Intelligence. 40% of his readers' most significant concern is outliving retirement money, followed by 19% with concerns about health issues, and 17% about being able to keep up with inflation.

Convinced that if retirement planning started early enough, these concerns could be minimized, Losey hopes to start baby boomers, as well as younger generations, thinking about retirement strategies and educating themselves on their options.

During National Retirement Planning Month, Losey is offering free teleseminars that will address retirement and other financial issues. Guests include:

Ann Fry, the CEO and Head Boomer of It's Boomertime will appear on Thursday, July 19th, 10 a. m. EST. For more information on Ann, visit her online at www. itsboomertime. com.

Jeff Thredgold, Economist, Futurist, President of Thredgold Economic Associates, and author of ECONAMERICA: Why The American Economy is Alive and Well...and What That Means To Your Wallet will be Losey's guest on Friday, July 20th at 12 p. m. EST. You can learn more about Thredgold at www. thredgold. com.

Kendra Todd, best selling author of Risk and Grow Rich: How To Make Millions in Real Estate and the only woman to have won on Donald Trump's popular television show The Apprentice, will be Losey's guest, Friday, July 27.

"I'm going to ask these experts the same questions I've been asked by over 500 of my seminar attendees during the last six months." Losey states. Losey is referring to his seminars in California, New York and Pennsylvania for people in the 50-62 age range. Losey indicates that no matter what part of the country he is in, he always hears the same 10 questions.

Some of those questions are: "When can I retire?" "How much money will I need to retire?" "How long should I plan to live for?" "How do I keep up with inflation?" "Should I take Social Security now or later?"

Those questions and the others that Losey will ask his guests are his part in educating the public, and promoting July as National Retirement Planning Month.

Asked why he selected July as National Retirement Planning Month, Losey states: "We celebrate our country's independence in July, so it's a good time to also think about our own financial independence. We usually spend more time with our families in July, with vacations and the kids out of school. As we enjoy their company, it's a good reminder that we don't want them to have to worry about taking care of our financial needs some day."

"I'm on a mission to help as many people as possible live the retirement life they want," Losey stated. To further his mission of educating the public about retirement planning, Losey's book, Retire in A Weekend! The Baby Boomers Guide to Making Work Optional, will be released in November 2007. National Retirement Planning Month is just the start of the educational process. There's much more to come," promises Losey.

For more information on the teleseminars, including guests, dates and telephone numbers, visit the National Retirement Planning Month (http://www. nationalretirementplanningmonth. blogspot. com) blog.

ACI Specialty Benefits Reports Sharp Rise in Financial Consulting Among Workforce Clients

Global EAP provider helps employees deal with emotional, physical stress due to economic crisis.

San Diego, CA (PRWEB) October 2, 2008

In the wake of the current economic crisis, ACI Specialty Benefits is reporting a major spike in financial consultation (http://www. acispecialtybenefits. com) use among its workforce clients. The top 10 employee assistance (http://www. acispecialtybenefits. com) provider has experienced a 45% increase since January 2008, and an astounding 85% increase since September 2007.

Americans are experiencing overwhelming emotions of fear, anxiety, and uncertainty surrounding both national and personal finances, according to experts at ACI, a global provider of EAP, wellness, and work/life services.

“The reality is people are swimming in debt, struggling to pay the mortgage, uncertain about their future, and turning to their EAP because it’s free, confidential, and personalized help,” says Dr. Ann D. Clark, CEO and Founder of ACI. The EAP provides legal and financial consultation services with licensed attorneys, CPAs and experienced financial professionals, plus counseling services for those experiencing stress, depression, relationship problems and other emotional concerns. “While we may not be able to pay off their debt, we can certainly help manage their stress,” adds Dr. Clark.

ACI Specialty Benefits is also working closely with employers concerned about the health and well-being of their workforce during these challenging times. “HR Directors and Managers are asking us for trainings, webinars, newsletters and other materials to help their employees better manage financial stress, and stay focused at work,” says Tori Barr, ACI’s Chief Corporate Relations Officer.

“We have created a brand new series of materials titled, ‘Coping During Difficult Financial Times’ and our clinical staff is working hard to help individuals maintain perspective, focusing on what they can control, and avoiding unhealthy coping behaviors such as denial, or excessive alcohol or drug use, among other things,” adds Barr.

ACI’s wellness (http://www. acispecialtybenefits. com) and work/life (http://www. acispecialtybenefits. com) departments are also responding to the increased need for financially relevant materials and information. “In trainings, webinars and newsletters, our wellness team is addressing things like the importance of sleep during stressful times, eating healthy on a budget, and exercising at home, while our work/life department is fielding an enormous amount of requests for affordable childcare, eldercare, housing and education options,” says Dr. Clark.

Go Appetít's Cool Soup™ Line Makes Healthy Eating Simple and Delicious

Houston, Texas (PRWEB) December 21, 2008

Go Appetít Cool Soup™, a new line of drinkable soups packaged in portable single-serve bottles, is making it easier than ever to eat healthfully. Low in calories, rich in natural fruits and vegetables, and high in vitamins and antioxidants, Cool Soup is a healthy addition to a weight-loss program and a sensible alternative to high-calorie smoothies and salty "heat and serve" soups.

With seven out of 10 adults falling short of daily vegetable intake as recommended by U. S. dietary guidelines, Cool Soup has the added benefit of helping to ease the burden of meeting daily nutritional requirements. A 2008 University of California-Davis study confirmed that drinking vegetable juice is an effective substitute for fresh fruits and vegetables.

Go Appetít makes three delicious Cool Soup flavors to help support a healthy weight-loss plan. All are shelf-stable and need only be chilled. Drink them out of the bottle or pour them into a bowl and garnish with fresh herbs or whole wheat crackers:

The soups are ideal for toting in a purse or briefcase and are easy to consume while running from one appointment to another. Great for breakfast, lunch, or anytime snack. About the Company
Go Appetít Foods, LLC (formerly Allegretto Ventures) was created in 2004 by two entrepreneurial single mothers who wanted better tasting alternatives for eating on the go. Inspired by the foods of the Mediterranean, company founders Jacqueline Gartland and Patti Melcher dedicated themselves to bringing together the perfect balance of nutrition and flavor without added preservatives, sugar or artificial ingredients. Their mission also includes supporting the health and education of children and families around the world, which is why they have designated UNICEF as Go Appetit's corporate beneficiary.

Adventure Travelers Make a Difference with the Blue Mountain Project

Adventure Travelers Make a Difference with the Blue Mountain Project

Summer is here in the beautiful mountains of Jamaica and the fall months are fast approaching along with numerous exciting volunteer opportunities.

Fort Wayne, IN (PRWEB) July 29, 2006

Summer is here in the beautiful mountains of Jamaica and the fall months are fast approaching along with numerous exciting volunteer opportunities.

Do you enjoy working with children? Currently we are preparing our summer programming for children and teens, including a month-long Fun Camp for kids ages 3-12. This summer’s theme for Fun Camp is the environment, with all activities, fun and educational, relating to this important topic. We are also coaching and developing two youth sports teams, one boys football (soccer) team, and one girls netball team. If you are interested in camp counseling, tutoring, coaching, cheerleading, and making a big difference in a child’s life, we need your help! Bring your passions with you and lead your favorite arts and crafts activity, or design a seminar for teens about your career or major. Join us for our Back2School event on Saturday August 26th, where scholarships are awarded and backpacks filled with new school supplies are distributed to the students, followed up by a dance party! Once school starts in the fall, guest speakers and teachers are always welcome and after-school tutoring and support is needed.

Do you have experience or interest in health care services? Since our health clinic opened in February, we have seen over 300 patients, saving them time and money of traveling to another town to have simple but necessary checkups. The clinic is open with a nurse on duty twice a week. We hope to increase our partnerships with volunteers with specialties in health care services, including professional doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, and gynecologists. Whether you have a knack of organizing filing systems, have a special touch and enjoyment for blood pressure checks, or are a practicing doctor, there are many needs for health care and education.

Are you handy with tools or motivated by physical work? Soon we will be starting our second phase of our clinic construction, laying a concrete roof on the space adjacent to our operating clinic. This expansion, which will add a formal waiting room area, office space, and restroom, will be an ongoing project over the next year. This fall we will also be working on building a retaining wall to support the eroding road that leads to the clinic as well as refurbishing the community ballground for local football teams to be able practice and have matches. There are ongoing projects of light construction and beautification, such as painting and trash collection, so we have projects for every skill level.

The Service Learning Program through Blue Mountain Project is more than just a volunteer program. This program is wonderful opportunity to achieve two very important humanitarian goals: to build personal awareness through challenging experiences and to build global awareness through cultural exchange. It is a chance to experience another culture by living and working in the community, sharing your knowledge and stories with local community members and other volunteers and learn from them as well.

We accept individuals and groups up to 15 for stays from one day to one year. Finish out the summer by volunteering with us! Spend this year’s Labor Day weekend reading to a child or leading a health care workshop. In order to begin the registration process for our program email at carrie@bluemountainproject. org. We ask that you submit your application at least 45 days before your intended travel dates. Please choose three prospective dates that you are available for the program as we fill up quickly. In general, please be sure to give at least 3 non familial references on your application, choosing individuals who can fill out of reference form in a timely manner. As an organization, we are required to have these forms before being able to confirm your placement in the program.

Please refer to our website at www. bluemountainproject. org for additional information about the program. Please note that as of July 1, 2006, our program fees have changed to the following schedule:

1-30 days $59/day

U. S. "Baby Business" (Infertility Services) Worth $4 Billion

U. S. "Baby Business" (Infertility Services) Worth $4 Billion

New study finds temporary slump in demand, due to recession

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 17, 2009

Marketdata Enterprises, Inc., a leading independent market research publisher since 1979, has released a new 221-page report entitled: U. S. Fertility Clinics & Infertility Services: An Industry Analysis. This market study investigates demand for and the dollar value of: fertility clinics, sperm banks, egg donors, fertility drugs, and surrogacy programs. It's a controversial and largely unregulated niche healthcare sector that has received lots of recent publicity via the "OctoMom" case. The study estimates industry revenues from 1988 to 2013 Forecast. See http://www. marketdataenterprises. com (http://www. marketdataenterprises. com) for details or to order the study.

"The "baby business" is booming, catering to the needs of millions of infertile couples, both in the United States and abroad. Many women have delayed childbirth to pursue careers and are in need of assisted reproductive technology (ART) procedures such as IVF to get pregnant. However, the high price deters many, with the result that this becomes a luxury for affluent, educated Caucasian women. Each IVF cycle costs $12,000 and most require several cycles. Since only 14 states mandate insurance coverage, this is paid out of pocket..." according to Research Director, John LaRosa.

Major Findings:
Market Value… Marketdata analysts estimate that the U. S. infertility services (http://www. marketdataenterprises. com) market reached $4.04 billion in 2008. The recession has impacted this business, especially in states suffering from bad real estate markets (CA, NV, AZ, FL). IVF is an elective and costly procedure, paid for with disposable income out-of-pocket.

Marketdata analysts forecast that IVF (http://www. marketdataenterprises. com) procedure volume will decline by about 5% in 2009. Stronger growth for IntegraMed clinics, which represent about 25% of the industry's volume, will partially offset weakness in the other 75% of the market. We should see prices discounted and more package deals offered. This decline in IVF volume should translate to lower growth for fertility drug sales as well. Marketdata forecasts that the value of the market will contract by 5%, to a value of $3.84 billion this year.

ART now produces more than 50,000 babies per year in the U. S. via 142,000 IVF procedures (nearly tripled since 1999), and demand is growing from the ranks of 7+ million infertile women. There are 483 U. S. fertility clinics, 100+ sperm banks, an unknown number of egg donors, and 1,700 reproductive endocrinologists competing for the business, which is lucrative.

The global market for fertility drugs (http://www. marketdataenterprises. com) tops $1 billion, controlled largely by Merck Serono.

Studies indicate that up to 15% of couples of childbearing age of 20-44 in the United States are clinically infertile (about 15% of women and 10-15% of men).

Only one corporate "chain" of fertility clinics (http://www. marketdataenterprises. com), IntegraMed, exists, as most programs are run by small MD practices or are part of a hospital or University. IntegraMed operates 33 clinics, and its revenues grew from $112 million to $138 million from 2006-2008 - a strong 22.7% gain. However, not all fertility clinics fared as well.

The typical or "average" U. S. fertility clinic has revenues estimated at $3.2 million.

ART is not regulated by the federal government and only lightly supervised by state agencies. Since 1978 - when the world's first IVF baby, Louise Brown, was born in England - more than 3 million ART babies have been born worldwide, and some experts and ethicists fear the field's rapid expansion leaves too much room for abuses.

"Women who use infertility services are more likely to be Caucasian, college educated, older than 30, have higher incomes, and never have given birth or been married. This market is largely untapped. The overwhelming share of about 75% of fertility's potential customers are not yet buying the product or service: only 15% of infertile women in the United States have used fertility drugs; only 5.5% have employed artificial insemination, and only 1% have tried IVF. If fertility services followed a different model, one that implemented lower prices and a some regulation, the market would be significantly larger," according to Research Director, John LaRosa.

Exploring the First Stage Implementation Results of Pfizer's RFID Pilot Program

Counterfeit drugs are a major concern for pharmaceutical manufacturers, distributors and pharmacies across the nation. In response to the growing problem of fake drugs, the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently issued RFID compliance guidelines. The FDA is strongly encouraging Schedule II pharmaceutical companies to implement RFID tags, by 2007, with unique identifiers enabling them to track and trace their products throughout the supply chain.

Pzifer, in January 2006, launched a pilot program to secure the supply chain by tagging Viagra with RFID. This enables Pfizer to track and trace the product through the manufacturing process to the supplier, and even to the customer. As of April 2006 only RFID tagged bottles of Viagra are available. Pharmacists and wholesalers use the RFID tags to authenticate the drug.

Should Companies Be Allowed to Fire Smokers? Safety. BLR. com Poll Says No

After Weyco Inc., a benefits administrator in Michigan, implemented a policy prohibiting employees from smoking, even in non-work hours, Safety. BLR. com conducted a national poll of health and safety managers. The company was trying to control health care costs. The results: Employers shouldnÂ’t be allowed to fire workers who smoke away from work, according to nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of those who responded.

Old Saybrook, CT (PRWEB) February 24, 2005

After an employer in Michigan implemented a policy prohibiting employees from smoking, even in non-work hours, Safety. BLR. com conducted a national poll of health and safety managers. The results: Employers shouldnÂ’t be allowed to fire workers who smoke away from work, according to nearly three-quarters (72 percent) of those who responded.

Twenty percent of respondents said employers should be allowed to fire someone who smokes in non-work hours. The remaining 8 percent said they were unsure. Firing smokers is a hot-button topic—more than 900 people cast their votes in the poll. It was conducted during the week of February 8 by Safety. BLR. com, a website that makes safety training and compliance easier.

Something has to give in healthcare costs Weyco Inc., a benefits administrator based in Okemos, Michigan, gave workers time to quit and initiated a mandatory testing program. The founder of the company, Howard Weyers, says heÂ’s trying to fight rising healthcare costs with the no-smoking policy. Michigan has no law protecting smokers from discrimination, but more than half of U. S. states have laws with some sort of protection.

Sean Dean, editor at Safety. BLR. com, predicted that more employers facing double-digit healthcare cost increases will implement similar policies if their state allows them. “Something has to give in healthcare, and smokers are an easy target. They tend to become sick more frequently and more seriously, miss more work, and take more breaks. We’re even beginning to see companies that are asking employees to state that none of their dependents are smokers,” he added. Critics of no-smoking policies that cover non-work hours wonder whether employers will try barring other employee activities that take place outside of work, such as alcohol consumption.

New Arthritis and Pain Treatment Eliminates 60% of the Discomfort Within the First Visit By Dr. Theresa L. Smith, D. C

New Arthritis and Pain Treatment Eliminates 60% of the Discomfort Within the First Visit By Dr. Theresa L. Smith, D. C.

A new alternative arthritis technique called Body Restoration Technique (BRT) has shown to be highly effective against the pain and inflammation in arthritis and degenerative joint disease. And the treatment does NOT involve drugs, supplements, Chiropractic, Physical Therapy, herbs, manipulation, topical applications or dietary changes.

(PRWEB) July 29, 2005

Dr. Berg, D. C. in Virginia was not satisfied with using his typical approach whereby a patient would have to come to the office over and over and over again in a never ending program. Through investigating literally thousands of inflammatory cases, Dr. Berg tracked down the different sources of inflammation.

The missing link was in the investigation of finding the true problem. Many practitioners just don’t go deep enough to find the true mechanism involved. Dr. Berg found that inflammation could come from many different sources – pinched nerve, a failing adrenal gland (adrenal gland depleted of its anti-inflammatory hormones), a pathogen creating constant immune response type inflammation, referral pain from an organ, damaged ligament, tendon or muscle, scar tissue, muscle in protect mode compensating from something else and an altered pH systemically (acid-based level – if the body is too alkaline, it can accumulate calcium on the nerves and tendons causing bursitis and nerve pain).

This natural technique has a unique way of assessing the body to find the problem. It uses acupressure on specific acupuncture points to correct the body’s malfunction. The body is similar to a computer and Dr. Berg found a way to tap into this system and clear up the body’s confusions. Dr. Berg found that many of these chronic pain syndromes are confusions in the brain. The brain is supposed to filter 99.99% of the sensory information that is not needed. But when pain is involved the brain deals with inflammation differently. The information can many times overload the circuits creating continual pain in another part of the body. Dr. Berg’s technique corrects the defects in the nerve networks and restores function – eliminating pain and inflammation. Inflammation is part of normal healing process within the body but chronic pain is not normal. Dr. Berg discovered the pathways and mechanisms to restore the body’s electrical system.

Does Your Dog Bite? MuttShack Foster Foundation Advises How to Protect Your Dog and Yourself from Liability

Does Your Dog Bite? MuttShack Foster Foundation Advises How to Protect Your Dog and Yourself from Liability

MuttShack Foundation for Animal Fostering and Rescue provides valuable insight into keeping dogs from biting and creating a happy and sociable canine.

(PRWEB) June 8, 2005

MuttShack Foundation for Animal Foster and Rescue, claim that dogs bite more than 4.7 million people every year in the United States.

The blame could be the dogÂ’s, the ownerÂ’s, or the victimÂ’s. But the one who invariably pays, is the owner. The owner of the dog becomes responsible for paying for the medical bills, time lost from work as well as pain and suffering. The one who suffers most, is the dog that is abandoned in a shelter or disposed of.

Dog owners should assume more than their share of the responsibility for protecting people and other animals from their dogs, and also assume the responsibility to protect their dogs from people. Kids will run up to a dog screaming in delight and frighten the dog. A dog in his excitement to greet someone may jump up and scratch him or her. A passer-by may approach a dog aggressively or provoke him. Neighborhood kids may let the dogs out just to have some fun.

There is no way to guarantee that your dog will never bite someone. But you can significantly reduce the risk:

• Spay or neuter your dog. This important and routine procedure will reduce your dog's desire to roam and fight with other dogs, making safe confinement an easier task. Spayed or neutered dogs are much less likely to bite.

• Socialize your dog. Introduce your dog to many different types of people and situations so that he or she is not nervous or frightened under normal social circumstances.

• Train your dog. Accompanying your dog to a training class is an excellent way to socialize him and to learn proper training techniques. Training your dog is a family matter. Every member of your household should learn the training techniques and participate in your dog's education. Never send your dog away to be trained; only you can teach your dog how to behave in your home. Note that training classes are a great investment even for experienced dog caregivers.

• Be alert with your dog around children. Rambunctious play may startle your dog, and he may react by snapping or biting. Neighborhood children may be attracted to your dog, so make sure you have a child-proof lock on your gate and there is no way for little hands to get through the fence.

• Teach your dog appropriate behavior. Never teach your dog to chase after or attack others, even in fun. Your dog can't always understand the difference between play and real-life situations. Set appropriate limits for your dog's behavior.

Don't wait for an accident.

The first time he exhibits dangerous behavior toward any person, seek professional help from your veterinarian, an animal behaviorist, or a qualified dog trainer. Dangerous behavior toward other animals may eventually lead to dangerous behavior toward people, and is also a reason to seek professional help.

• Be a responsible dog owner. License your dog as required by law, and provide regular veterinary care, including rabies vaccinations. For everyone's safety, don't allow your dog to roam alone. Make your dog a member of your family. Dogs who spend a great deal of time alone in the backyard or tied on a chain often become dangerous. Dogs who are well socialized and supervised are much less likely to bite.

• Stay on the safe side. If you don't know how your dog will react to a new situation, be cautious. If your dog may panic in crowds, leave him at home. If your dog overreacts to visitors or delivery or service personnel, keep him in another room. Work with professionals to help your dog become accustomed to these and other situations. Until you are confident of his behavior, however, avoid stressful settings.

I thought you said your dog doesn't bite? "That's not my dog" ... says Peter Sellers.

Seriously, if your dog bites someone, act responsibly; take these steps to mitigate the harm:

• Confine your dog immediately and check on the victim's condition. If necessary, seek medical help.

• Provide the victim with important information, such as the date of your dog's last rabies vaccination.

• You should cooperate fully with the animal control official responsible for acquiring information about your dog. If your dog must be quarantined for any length of time, ask whether he may be confined within your home or at your veterinarian's hospital. Strictly follow quarantine requirements for your dog.

• Seek professional help to prevent your dog from biting again. Consult with your veterinarian, who may refer you to an animal behaviorist or a dog trainer. Your community animal care and control agency or humane society may also offer helpful services.

If you have to let your dog go, don't drop him off at a shelter, where he will only be given a few days to live. Take the time to find him a new family. To do this there is a support and training network called MuttShack, at http://www. Muttshack. org (http://www. Muttshack. org), who will teach you how to re-home your pet.

• If your dog's dangerous behavior cannot be controlled, and you have to make the painful decision to give him up, do not give him to someone else without carefully evaluating that person's ability to protect your dog and prevent him from biting. Because you know your dog is dangerous, you may be held liable for any damage he does even when he is given to someone else.

• Never give your dog to someone who wants a dangerous dog. "Mean" dogs are often forced to live miserable, isolated lives, and become even more likely to attack someone in the future. If you must give up your dog due to dangerous behavior, consult with your veterinarian and with your local animal care and control agency or humane society about your options. Be safe, be responsible and most importantly, teach your dog to be a good canine citizen.

• Your dog lives to make you happy. If he understands what you need from him, he will make you proud.
