To celebrate 30 years of maintaining healthy and beautiful hair for women of color, Creme of Nature joined forces with famed shoe designer Etu Evans to give two deserving women the gift of glamour from the ground up. From a sweepstakes with thousands of entrants, two were selected to experience style and beauty, the Creme of Nature way.

Creme of Nature has been a leader in the formulation of shampoos and conditioners that address the specific needs of ethnic hair for three decades. In recent years, the company has expanded their offerings to include relaxers and at home hair color to the brand’s product collection.

Shawn Tollerson, Vice President of Marketing for Colomer USA, says of the sweepstakes, “We want to thank our customers who have been loyal to the brand over the years and remind them that Creme of Nature remains the trusted brand of choice for beautiful and healthy hair.”

Creating an event that honed in on the heritage of ethnic beauty, The Colomer Group chose Harlem’s Tribal Spears Gallery as a forum in which to highlight beauty and style. For Alicia Forte of Miami, FL and Keesha Pelzer of Bowman, South Carolina, the winners of Creme of Nature’s Beauty from Head to Toe Sweepstakes, the experience was phenomenal.

The winners were greeted with a lavish display of hors d’oeuvres and wine, interviewed by two leading African-American women’s magazines and captured on film by a flurry of photographers. The highlight of the afternoon was a custom shoe fitting by award winning shoe designer and Harlem native Etu Evans. Known as the Harlem Blahnik, Evans began the fittings by creating an outline of each foot and measuring selected areas. Upon completion, the foot and leg were given an intense and relaxing massage. Following the pampering, each winner selected the style of her shoe and the material from which each pair would be crafted. The specifications for each pair will be sent to Italy for construction and in six to eight weeks, both Alicia and Keesha will be the newest members of Etu Evans’ elite group of custom footwear owners. Retailing between $2,500 and $3,500 per pair, this gift of indulgence is a once in a lifetime treat for most.

The day of style and beauty concluded with a cocktail party hosted by Etu Evans and The Colomer Group in honor of the winners. The well-attended reception brought together some of the community’s most notable figurers, including public city and state officials and noted author Kevin Powell.

This stylish promotional event marked the beginning of a new era for the Creme of Nature brand as it repositions to gain a larger share in the nearly $2 billion per year ethnic personal care retail market.
