Top Industry Experts, Fedrizzi, Dangermond and Williams, to Speak at Ecobuild America

Ecobild Aerica Keynote Presentatios Announced. Rick Fedrizzi, President, CEO & Founding Chairman of the U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) will address “The State of the Green Building Industry” on Tuesday, June 21st. On Wednesday, June 22 Jack Dangermond, founder and president of the software company ESRI, will present “Using Information Technology in Environmental Planning.” Thursday morning Dan Williams, principal of Daniel Williams ARCHITECT, former chairman of AIA Committee on the Environment (COTE) and a well-known urban and regional designer, will cover “An Ecological Model for Sustainability.”

Ecobuild America, the environmental systems technology conference and exhibition, a new multi-faceted event focused on the expanding green building and sustainable design markets, is lining up well-known experts to address significant topics related to this $5.8 billion market. Ecobuild America premieres in 2005 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. A conference program runs June 20-23, 2005; and exhibits are open June 21-23, 2005.

These speakers help carry out the mission of Ecobuild America, which takes a much broader approach to the green building and sustainable design markets than any other event. Richard Vendola, a principal of RCG Productions LLC, organizer of the event, explains: “The footprint of the Ecobuild program includes all the elements -- sustainable design, green building, and environmental planning – it’s a comprehensive scope that often is not understood. . We are reaching a different combination of audience, the entire design and construction team---from owners to architects and specifiers as well as contractors and facility managers, than any other event. Ecobuild America combines sustainable building techniques with the technology that supports the entire process from concept, through design, construction and long-term operation. Attendees comprise building owners and managers, engineers, contractors, design professionals, architects, surveyors, and specifiers in the commercial, residential, institutional, industrial, government and utility markets. 

Its educational sessions cover innovations in green building materials, energy and technology, with particular emphasis on sustainable growth, green building, and environmental design. Exhibits feature products for the entire scope of designing, constructing and operating buildings for better energy and environmental performance.

Speakers with a Depth of Experience

Since April of 2004 Fedrizzi has been chief spokesperson for USGBC staff leadership, strategic planning and fundraising. He also is founder and president of the consulting firm Green-Think Inc. Prior to forming his company he was an in-house environmental marketing consultant for the commercial and residential business units of United TechnologiesÂ’ Carrier Corp. He worked through its engineering, marketing and sales operations to ensure responsible environmental product development and strategy implementation.

As a result of FedrizziÂ’s efforts Carrier received the US Environmental Protection Agency's Stratospheric Ozone Protection Award and the US Department of Energy's National Energy Award for new product development utilizing these strategies.

Fedrizzi also serves on the board of The National Association of Indoor Environmental Professionals, writes the monthly Internet column “Greener Facilities” for Buildings magazine and is a frequent contributor to many building industry and environmental publications.

Dangermond founded Redlands, Calif.-based ESRI in 1969. The privately held software company is widely recognized as the technical and market leader in geographic information system (GIS) software, pioneering innovative solutions for working with spatial data on the desktop, across the enterprise, in the field, and on the Internet.

He led ESRI from a small research group to an organization of 2,700 employees with 16 subsidiaries, 72 distributors and 11 regional offices throughout the United States. The GSI software boasts more than a million users representing government, NGOs, academia, utilities, health care, transportation, telecommunications, homeland security, retail, and agriculture.

Williams is a Fellow in the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and principal and founder of Seattle, Wash.-based Daniel Williams ARCHITECT, an architecture and planning firm specializing in sustainability. With more than 20 years experience in green architecture and urban design, WilliamÂ’s nationally recognized work and research connects architecture and urban and regional design with the principles of ecology, transportation, economics and energy conservation in scales ranging from a building to the regional watershed.

He is contributing advisor on the National Energy Policy and an advisor to USGBCÂ’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)? certification for residential design. Previously, he chaired the AIA Committee on the Environment and the Environmental Task Force for the Congress for New Urbanism.

A principal in organizing Ecobuild America is architect Yoshiteru Kaneko, producer of Japan's largest AEC technology event, and creator of Ecobuild Japan, one of the world's foremost green conferences and exhibitions that boasts a five-year success record in Asia and draws more than 16,000 attendees each year. He was selected as the delegate from Japan to the recent World Green Building Council (WGBC) conference in India.
