Joy P. Holderread Announces Launch of FengShuiZodiac. com

America is in need of comfort. Americans need help with finances, relationships, and health. They also want to prosper and become happier, calm and well-rounded individuals. The founder of recently launched FengShuiZodiac. com believes she can help.

New York (PRWEB) October 9, 2008 -–

America is in need of comfort. Americans need help with finances, relationships, and health. They also want to prosper and become happier, calm and well-rounded individuals.

"What if I told you that there is a way to make this happen without spending a lot of money or that this can be done without great difficulty," said Joy P. Holderread, founder of the newly launched Web site FengShuiZodiac. com. "All it would take is an open mind, an open heart and the courage to believe. In a nutshell, Americans should be introduced to feng shui."

The new site hopes to be a clearinghouse for all things feng shui, and will likely appeal to a wide range of visitors –- including small-business merchants seeking out wholesale feng shui collectors, real estate agents, brokers, home designers and simply those interested in the concept.

But what, exactly, is feng shui?

"Feng shui teaches us how to create harmony and balance around us," says Stanley Bartlett, who uses the centuries-old art to design homes and businesses. The ideas date back at least 3,000 years, yet a growing number of architects and decorators are integrating feng shui ideas with contemporary building design.

"Everything in the universe is energy," said Bartlett. "According to the Chinese, energy expresses itself as one of five feng shui elements. They are fire, earth, metal, water and wood. These elements affect everything in our living, our property and work environments. Stuck in your career? Trouble in your love life? The root of your problems may be in the design of your home."

According to Holderread, Virgin Airlines, the Bank of England and the United Nations have embraced it. American architect Frank Lloyd Wright, and even the TV series 'Big Brother,' employed ideas borrowed from this ancient art. Salomon Smith Barney is reported to have employed the services of feng shui specialists, and Credit Lyonnais Securities Asia puts out a yearly feng shui index for the Chinese New Year.

"Once solely a 'New Age' preoccupation, feng shui has lured such soulful '90s converts as Donald Trump and Oprah Winfrey," Holderread said. "'The Donald' consulted a feng shui specialist before building his hulking Trump International Hotel in New York -- hence the blinding silver globe out front at Columbus Circle. And Oprah is purported to have worked out her chi issues with a consultant. Even Wall Street has taken stock of its chi flow."

FengShuiZodiac. com contains all the tools needed to research and explore the concept.

"I welcome you to visit this site," Holderread said. "Please take a look at the long list of products we have listed and the list of services we offer that can help you incorporate this concept into your daily life. For instance, would you like to create a garden that will be the envy of your neighbors? Well, we have trained designers who can help make your garden space more attractive and pleasing. We consult via phone, fax and Internet."

Additionally, said Holderread, real estate professionals can market and sell properties using feng shui principles and cut workloads in half.

"Triple your real estate sales and income while enjoying more free time," Holderread said. "Visit the resource page under, 'Real Estate Leasing Program.'"

Additionally, the site has an auction rental program where interested parties can sell FengShuiZodiac. com products on eBay, Amazon or many other auction sites on the Web.

"You never need to buy or pay for products until you sell it," Holderread said. "We will drop-ship your order anywhere in the world."

Homemakers may be interested in the site, too, said Holderread.

"All you stay-at-home moms or women that have a little extra time on their hands could host a feng shui party in your home," she said. "We will help you with planning and obtaining the items you need to have a fun party."

There are many more opportunities available along with the products the site offers, according to Holderread.

"Just take a walk over to the mysterious east where wonders never cease," she said. "If you love beautiful things, you will not be disappointed."

Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition Prevails in Appeal of Federal Court Ruling Regarding Muscle Building Patents

Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition Prevails in Appeal of Federal Court Ruling Regarding Muscle Building Patents

Federal Circuit decision entered, affirming decision from Eastern District of Texas that turned on patent attorney "Hal" Hallihan's patent invalidity arguments

Chicago (PRWEB) February 5, 2010

The U. S. Court of Appeals officially entered a judgment into the record affirming a summary judgment ruling from the Eastern District of Texas.

In Iovate Health Sciences Inc. et al v. Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition Inc. (Case Number 9:07-cv-0046-RC), Iovate, the University of Florida Research Foundation, Inc. (UF), and Flamma SpA filed a complaint against Bio-Engineered Supplements & Nutrition (BSN) and Medical Research Institute (MRI) in Texas for patent infringement (http://www. hallihan. com/Chicago_Patent_Attorneys. html) in 2007.

Iovate is the exclusive licensee of UF's patented method for "enhancing muscle performance or recovery from fatigue" (Pat. No. 6,100,287). The method includes the single step of administering a composition that contains a ketoacid and either a cationic or dibasic amino acid.

BSN was defended by a Chicago-based law firm whose team was led by experienced patent attorney William J. "Hal" Hallihan (http://www. hallihan. com/Our_IP_Team. html). Hallihan sought to invalidate Iovate's patent claims with an innovative argument for summary judgment and was ultimately successful when Judge Ron Clark ruled, prior to trial, that numerous patent claims were anticipated under 35 USC 102(b).

"The most relevant prior art were advertisements found in bodybuilding magazines," explained Hallihan. "Each ad mentioned specific ingredients, administering the supplement, and marketing claims and testimonials from bodybuilders extolling the virtues of the product. We successfully argued that the advertising disclosed all limitations of the invalidated claims, including the chemical components, as well as the function of administration to enhance muscle performance."

On appeal, the Federal Circuit affirmed the summary judgment ruling in a November decision. That decision was entered into the record in January 2010.

The case comes on the heels of a similar dispute having similar results. In Medical Research Institute (MRI) v. Bio-Engineered Supplements and Nutrition Inc (BSN) et al (Case Number: 6:05-cv-00417-LED), MRI sued BSN in 2005 for patent infringement in the Eastern District of Texas. In this case, Hallihan successfully argued that MRI's use of the term "comprising" in its claims fell within an exception to the general rule that such term means the claim is open-ended. In 2007, Judge Leonard Davis ruled in favor of BSN and taxed BSN's costs against MRI.

Last year, Hallihan founded, Hallihan IP Partners. Hallihan's concept in forming the boutique law firm was to assemble a team of highly experienced professionals (http://www. hallihan. com/Home_Page. html) without the typical overhead and business practices of larger IP law firms.

The firm's IP specialists have counseled clients (http://www. hallihan. com/Representative_Cases. html) worldwide on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, computer law, Internet issues and matters before the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office, various courts and the International Trade Commission (ITC).

Meeting a Need—How Addressing Online Health Literacy Serves You and Your Customers

The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion provides a free health literacy “how-to” guide to help organizations address the increasing demand for easy-to-read, easy-to-understand, online health information.

Rockville, MD (Vocus) July 13, 2010

More Americans go online for health information than ever before but more than half of them face barriers that make such information inaccessible; more specifically, as many as 9 out of 10 Americans have limited health literacy skills. This means they have trouble understanding complex health information. As more health information and services move online, Web developers and professionals must find new and better ways to communicate health information to the public.

To address this growing need, HHS recently published Health Literacy Online: A Guide to Creating Easy to Use Health Web Sites (http://www. health. gov/healthliteracyonline/). This research-based guide builds upon current best practices in Web design and usability by offering strategies, insights, and tips on incorporating health literacy principles into website and content development. To learn more, download the Health Literacy Online guide (http://www. health. gov/healthliteracyonline/).

“The Web is a go-to source for people to find health information,” said RADM Penelope Slade-Sawyer, P. T., M. S.W., Director, Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, U. S. Department of Health and Human Services. “That’s why it’s so important that online information be easy to understand and use. At ODPHP, we are working to address this issue on our own Web sites, and we hope the tips and tools in Health Literacy Online will help others do the same.”

About the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion:
The Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion, within the United States Department of Health and Human Services, coordinates the website healthfinder. gov as well as the National Health Information Center. HAMS Releases a Revolutionary New Alcohol Self-Help Book

HAMS Releases a Revolutionary New Alcohol Self-Help Book

Programs which demand total abstinence and spiritual surrender to a Higher Power fail to help vast majority of people with alcohol problems. Fortunately, harm reduction provides pragmatic solutions with a broad appeal to many drinkers. This is the book to tell you how to practice harm reduction for alcohol.

New York, NY (PRWEB) July 1, 2010

The HAMS Harm Reduction Network (http://hamsnetwork. org/) has just released a self-help handbook for anyone who wishes to change their drinking habits for the better. The title is How to Change Your Drinking: a Harm Reduction Guide to Alcohol (https://www. createspace. com/3461955). This book contains tools to help drinkers to choose an alcohol management goal which fits their own personal values. Goals can range from safer drinking to reduced drinking to quitting alcohol altogether. It also contains a compendium of strategies which readers can choose from when building their own individualized alcohol management plans. Readers are also introduced to cognitive behavioral strategies to help them to deal with difficult emotions and life situations without resorting to the bottle, as well as ways to have fun without alcohol. Readers are also given damage control strategies to help them deal with any slips they have on the way to achieving their alcohol management goal--a slip needs never turn into a crash.

In addition to giving readers the tools needed to build their own harm reduction program, the book also goes on to explain in detail mechanisms of alcohol intoxication, hangover, withdrawal, blackout, and alcohol related liver damage. Practical strategies are provided to help readers reduce or eliminate these negative alcohol-related consequences.

Finally the book explores the concept of alcohol harm reduction in a larger societal context. Strategies are given for reducing the harm resulting from spousal drinking as well as ways to support spouses who have chosen to take steps for the better--no matter how small. Health care professionals are urged to drop perfectionistic attitudes which demand total abstinence and which all too often backfire. Instead they are urged to recognize that many people change gradually--via baby steps--and that it is essential to encourage every positive change.

C4C, Inc., Calls On Interior Secretary Salazar To Fire Supervisory Employee Who Referred To African-American Subordinates As “Monkeys”

C4C, Inc., Calls On Interior Secretary Salazar To Fire Supervisory Employee Who Referred To African-American Subordinates As “Monkeys”

Washington, DC-The Coalition For Change, Inc., (C4C) a public interest group established to expose and combat employment discrimination in the Federal government is calling on U. S. Department of Interior Secretary Ken Salazar to fire a senior Interior official named Craig Littlejohn, who referred to African-American subordinates as “monkeys.”

Washington, DC (PRWEB) September 8, 2010

In a letter to the Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Mr. Philip Taylor, C4C, Inc.'s Acting President wrote, “ . . . the recent Equal Employment Opportunity Commission’s decision detailing Mr. Craig Littlejohn’s racist name-calling and his discriminatory interference with the selection process makes him unfit to serve in a position of public trust in the Federal government.” In his letter, Taylor added that C4C members were deeply troubled that department officials have failed to administer prompt or appropriate disciplinary action against Littlejohn in light of the EEOC’s decision and an article in The Washington Post.

The EEOC Decision [EEOC No. 570-2008-00625X, July 2, 2010] details how Littlejohn, who after becoming Chief Information Officer in the Office of Solicitor moved the African-American employees under his supervision out of the headquarters office and replaced them with non-African American contractors.

Mr. Philip Taylor, C4C, Inc.’s Acting President states “Department of Interior officials’ failure to address Mr. Littlejohn’s blatant transgressions serves to condone the hostile and intolerable work environment that he has created for minority employees under his supervision.”

The Founder of C4C, Inc., Tanya Jordan, stated she formed the civil rights support group because too many civil servants suffer damaging health effects from prolonged physical and psychological abuse at the hands of supervisors, like Littlejohn, who are seldom if ever held accountable. "The deplorable actions of Littlejohn and others need to be exposed and addressed before the health of civil servants and the public is put at further risk," asserts Jordan.

“It would appear from reading the judge’s ruling that Mr. Littlejohn does not represent the type of individual an organization would desire to lead a diverse workforce in the 21st Century," stated Taylor. "Littlejohn’s palpable behavior which involves depriving African-Americans from employment opportunities should not be tolerated by agency officials or compensated by the American public.” C4C has listed Littlejohn as a Responsible Management Official (RMO) on its website link at http://www. coalition4change. org/RMO. htm (http://www. coalition4change. org/RMO. htm).

The C4C letter to Secretary Salazar also criticizes the department’s pending efforts to appeal the EEOC’s decision and for not placing more emphasis and agency resources to address EEOC findings of overt and blatant discriminatory employment practices throughout the U. S. Department of Interior.

Accrediting officials recognize program’s attention to detail, thorough safety policies and constant communication

Lehi, UT (PRWEB) November 9, 2010

CARF Internationalhas announced that Outback Therapeutic Expeditions, a therapeutic wilderness program for struggling teens ages 13-17, has been accredited for a period of three years, becoming the first ever outdoor program to achieve such accreditation in the state of Utah.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows Outback’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a three-year accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

“We congratulate Outback and its staff on their fantastic achievement as the first outdoor program to receive CARF accreditation in Utah,” said Phil Herschman, president of Aspen Education Group, the parent company of Outback Therapeutic Expeditions. “Outback is truly an industry trend-setter when it comes to the levels of excellence and proficiency with which they serve families and students. They deserve to be commended for taking this important next step for outdoor therapeutic programs.”

The CARF accrediting officials found strengths in many areas of Outback’s operations, noting that the program “is not just about the wilderness experience but the overlay of a very competent therapeutic program fully integrated into the wilderness experience.” They reported that “the safety of staff and students is a high priority” and that “thorough safety policies and procedures are practiced regularly.”

Officials added that “attention to detail is evident” and that the program’s “dedicated staff” expressed their commitment to students. They made special note of the program’s “comprehensive” student handbook and performance evaluation system.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. FLAVORx/SAVEURx+ Partners with Primary Care Today Canada and the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores

FLAVORx/SAVEURx+ Partners with Primary Care Today Canada and the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores

In its pursuit to expand into the Canadian market, FLAVORx Inc has announced its continued partnership with premier organizations such as Primary Care Today Canada and the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores. Doing so enables the company to continue to promote patient care and pharmacy-based educational programs, just as it has done in the US.

Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) August 24, 2006

FLAVORx, the biotech company that has defined an industry, announced today that it will renew two key partnerships: the Canadian Association of Chain Drug Stores (CACDS) & Primary Care Today, Canada. Setting the gold-standard for medicinal flavoring and continuing its mission to improve medicinal compliance, FLAVORx has been continually recognized by the industry, as both a credible and successful organization, and also one of Alberta’s fastest growing companies.

The company declared that for a third straight year it plans to attend the CACDS annual meeting. In addition, the company will again be joining Primary Care Today, one of Canada’s leading medical symposium groups. In order to expand its presence throughout the Canadian medical community, FLAVORx plans to participate in the Symposium Francophone de Medicine and Primary Care Today’s national medical conference. Medical providers throughout Canada commonly search for the best remedies to aid patient compliance including critical issues that surface due to bad taste or foul smell of a medication. FLAVORx will showcase their scientifically tested & medically proven medicinal compliance program to hundreds of medical providers. Their efforts will be bolstered by advanced educational research that addresses the significance of scientifically tested, medicinal flavoring on adherence to medicinal regimens.

Ashton Maaraba, FLAVORx Senior Vice President and Head of International Operations, attended last years showcase and plans to return this year with his Canadian team. Maaraba stated “We are again excited to be partnering with Primary Care Today Canada. We have received an extraordinary level of enthusiasm and interest in our patient-oriented showcase. Certainly, the tremendous support from Canadian doctors and their nursing staff are a major reason why we’ve decided to come back.” While FLAVORx remains selective and discrete with its strategic growth strategy within international markets, Kenny Kramm President and CEO mentions, “Visibility within the Canadian market enables us to support international interest and introduce proven methods that enhance patient care programs to individuals within the healthcare community.”

Regarding CACDS, Maaraba adds, “The CACDS community boasts a strong mission statement and value system that aligns with FLAVORx principles. I’m elated because everyone reflects the common ground that the improved health of the patient is top priority.”

FLAVORx has advanced the challenge to medicinal compliance by perfecting the methodology that allows pharmacists to turn any bitter or foul-tasting medication into a readily-accepted, flavored liquid. It provides patients of any age, with prescription drug or over-the-counter (OTC) medications, a palatable and safe liquid so they can comply with their doctor’s instructions and recover from illness more quickly. To learn more about scientifically tested medicinal flavoring, visit www. rxschool. com to enroll in a Continuing Education course on “Flavoring Agents to Enhance Taste and Palatability of Liquid Medications.”

FLAVORx, headquartered in Bethesda, Maryland, USA and is currently located in nearly 35,000 pharmacy locations, including many major hospital pharmacies. Other U. S. & Canadian chain pharmacies that offer FLAVORx include Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Loblaws, Jean Coutu, CVS, Sobeys/Lawtons, London Drugs, Rite-Aid, CVS pharmacy, Albertson's, Supervalu, Target, Kroger, Giant, Giant Eagle, Sav-on Foods, Longs, Kmart, Winn Dixie, Safeway, USA Drugs, Kinney Drugs, Meijer, Shopko, Spartan Stores, & Happy Harrys, Albertsons & Supervalu.

US Heart Patients Being Treated with Adult Stem Cells in Thailand

US Heart Patients Being Treated with Adult Stem Cells in Thailand

In Thailand, Chaophya Hospital is now treating no-option heart disease patients from abroad with adult stem cell therapy developed by TheraVitae Ltd. Dr. Amit Patel M. D., Director of Cardiac Stem Cell Therapies at The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center is also using TheraVitae's technology. Dr. Patel, who was in Bangkok training cardiac surgeons, explained his implantation techniques.

Bangkok (PRWEB) May 31, 2005

TheraVitae Ltd., the developer and provider of VesCell (TM), a proprietary stem cell therapy for coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure that utilizes adult stem cells harvested from the patient’s own blood, held a press conference - “Cell Therapy for the Heart” on Wednesday, 25 May 2005 at the J. W. Mariott Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand.

Dr. Valentin Fulga, TheraVitae’s CEO, discussed the medical and technical aspects of VesCell (TM) therapy. He went on to express TheraVitae’s ongoing commitment to the Thai medical community and pledged the company’s full support in Thailand’s pursuit to become the premier medical hub in the Asia/Pacific region. “I’d like to express our gratitude to the members of the Thai medical community who have played an instrumental role in our development of adult stem cell therapy to treat heart disease”, said Dr. Fulga. Finally, Dr. Fulga detailed TheraVitae’s recent collaboration with Bangkok’s Chaophya Hospital. Chaophya has emerged as a key player in the development of cellular therapy by providing a treatment venue for no-option heart disease patients seeking help from around the world. Several patients from the United States have been treated at the hospital this year.

Also on hand was Dr. Amit Patel M. D., Director of Cardiac Stem Cell Therapies at The McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Patel is currently in Bangkok training cardiac surgeons to perform a surgical procedure he developed in which TheraVitaeÂ’s VesCell (TM) is administered directly into the heart by way of minimal incisions in the chest. Dr. Patel presented results of a trial using a similar method, which he also presented at the 41st Annual Meeting of the Society for Thoracic Surgery in Tampa, Florida, in January 2005.

He went on to describe the latest techniques for treating patients with their own stem cells and the benefits of such treatments. Dr. Patel illustrated the type of heart patients currently eligible for these treatments and highlighted the results of his latest trial, "It is remarkable the level of improvement we’ve seen in these patients, who came to us with no other medical or surgical options available to them”, he said.

Robert Clark, TheraVitae’s Chairman, commented afterward, “Our message is that, unlike the cell cloning technique announced in South Korea last week, which has serious moral and ethical implications, and will probably take years to develop into a viable therapy, our technique is helping patients today.”

A Natural Treatment for Heart Disease – Cell Therapy

The body has natural ways of healing itself and the cardiovascular system is no exception. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) originate in bone marrow and then circulate in the blood vessels.

To manufacture VesCell (TM), TheraVitae expands a small number of EPCs harvested from about 250cc of blood into a therapeutic quantity. The EPCs are injected either through a coronary artery via catheter from the legÂ’s femoral artery or during surgery, directly into the heart muscle.

A key aspect of VesCell (TM) therapy, and what has attracted Dr. Patel and others to Thailand, is the advanced cell isolation and expansion technique that allows for the EPCs to be harvested from blood collected in a procedure similar to a common blood donation - a stark contrast to similar therapies that require painful collection of EPCs from the bone marrow which is usually taken in large amounts from the hip bone.

About Heart Diseases

Millions of people die each year from coronary artery disease. The cause of coronary artery disease is atherosclerosis — the gradual buildup of plaque and narrowing of the blood vessels that supply the heart muscle. This results in chest pain and the eventual death of heart muscle. Eventually, cardiologists and surgeons must widen the occluded artery by inflating balloon in it or must bypass the occluded section by surgically attaching a blood vessel to circumvent the blockage. Sometimes, the heart’s ability to pump blood continues to decrease due to the lack of blood supply and the diminishing amount of active (live) heart muscle. In very severe cases, the condition deteriorates until the patient is left solely with the option of a heart transplant. Since heart donors are scarce, tens of thousands of people die each year while waiting for a heart. Last year in Thailand, only one heart transplant was performed. A new option is desperately needed for these patients.

About TheraVitae

TheraVitae is an emerging healthcare company focused on using the patient's own stem cells in order to treat a variety of disorders, especially cardiovascular diseases. We are an international company, based in Bangkok, Thailand and Kiryat Weizmann, Israel, benefiting from collaborations with eminent physicians and scientists affiliated with well-known medical and academic institutions. Excellence, compassion and integrity are our credo. Only by combining the highest professional, ethical and moral standards will we achieve our patients' and our own goals - to bring them back to health.

Redemtech Announces Serious Good™ Computer Donation Initiative to Benefit Habitat for Humanity, Other Nonprofits and Low-Income Communities

Redemtech Announces Serious Good™ Computer Donation Initiative to Benefit Habitat for Humanity, Other Nonprofits and Low-Income Communities

Helping Corporate Donors Transform Surplus IT into Strategic Assets Supporting Social Responsibility, Sustainability and Digital Inclusion

Columbus, OH (PRWEB) December 1, 2010

Redemtech, a world leader in IT Asset Disposition and Technology Change Management (TCM), today launched the Serious Good™ initiative, bringing together corporations, nonprofit partners and the community to foster donations of refurbished PCs to address the Digital Divide – the rapidly growing gap between citizens with PCs and Internet access and those without.

Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit organization dedicated to creating affordable housing, will be one of the first national partners to benefit from the Redemtech Serious Good initiative. The program’s goal is to provide a refurbished computer for every Habitat partner family in the U. S. who wishes to receive one – an ambitious target that will require about 80,000 donated computers. “In today’s digital society, a PC functions as a library, post office, tutor, bank, newspaper, employment agency, an extension of school, and more,” said Redemtech President Robert Houghton. “Competing in modern society demands computer skills, yet too many families lack even the most basic PC and Internet access. We are excited to work with Habitat for Humanity as a Serious Good partner to address this issue for its partner families.”

Digital exclusion is a serious and growing concern, with one in four households in the U. S. – 28 million homes – without a home computer. In addition to the personal economic disadvantage this sector is faced with, lack of access to the Internet and its resources has a substantial cost to society: $55 billion based on its impact on a wide range of issues from healthcare and transportation to public safety, education and consumer benefits, according to a recent study.

“Having a computer can help children with their school work and adults in the job market,” said Mark Crozet, senior vice president of Resource Development at Habitat for Humanity International. “We are honored that through Serious Good, Redemtech is working to help Habitat partner families secure technology as a resource they can use to help build even better futures.”

Through Serious Good, corporate donations of surplus computers will play a sustained role in addressing digital exclusion. U. S. businesses replace 40 million PCs each year – and 75 percent are four years old or less, meaning they have years of useful life remaining. Millions of used-yet-useful computers are simply stored or prematurely recycled each year.

Redemtech’s approach to Serious Good enables companies to transform low-value surplus and decommissioned IT into strategic assets by supporting corporate social responsibility (CSR) goals, community renewal and greener IT practices. “Serious Good is rooted in the idea that balanced financial, social and environmental objectives are not only compatible, but work together contributing to the health of your business,” said Redemtech Executive Vice President Jill Vaské. “It helps companies magnify the impact of philanthropy with minimal cash investment and generate up to a seven-fold ROI for every dollar of philanthropic spend.”

Donating surplus IT also supports sustainability goals. By donating refurbished computers, companies extend their useful lifespan and prevent hazardous materials from prematurely entering the waste stream. Every 100 computer systems donated saves electricity to power 68 households a year and reduces greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to removing 48 cars from the road for a year.

To help businesses explore this innovative approach to leveraging surplus IT to support CSR and sustainability goals, Redemtech has created a comprehensive website at http://www. redemtech. com/seriousgood]. The site includes information on Serious Good partners including testimonials and details about maximizing a company’s “Giving ROI.” A white paper, “Giving: The Most Strategic IT Asset Disposition,” is available for download.

Redemtech’s industry-leading refurbishment process ensures that every donated computer meets quality standards to ensure a long, productive second life. Refurbishment includes complete data wiping, intensive OEM-level testing, reconditioning, repairs and upgrades. As a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR), Redemtech preinstalls genuine Windows® XP Professional operating system and the Microsoft Office® suite on every donated PC for a nominal licensing fee, adding hundreds of dollars of value to the technology gift. Each refurbished PC is professionally packaged under Redemtech’s Red Rabbitt™ brand of high-quality, business-grade refurbished equipment, together new peripherals and other essentials to provide a “like-new” user experience.

Serious Good is designed to overcome the historical barriers to corporate donations and ensure a positive experience. Some donation programs dump untested, outdated, even non-functioning PCs without legal software on recipients that lack the budget or resources to make them functional.

Through Serious Good, Redemtech addresses key issues by:
-- Managing the entire donation process, including asset recovery, ensuring MAR eligibility for recipients, providing essential environmental and data security reporting and other administrative details
-- Providing donation partners that have a clearly identified need for donated PCs and training programs to help recipients learn basic PC skills and understand Internet safety issues
-- Installing genuine software to address software licensing issues and ensure end-user access to software updates and online support from Microsoft
-- Providing a 90-day warranty and free support to help recipients get up and running
-- Including free takeback service to ensure responsible recycling at end of life and compliance with environmental regulations

“IT is a gateway to individual prosperity and participation in modern society,” Houghton said. “Companies benefit in many ways when more people are empowered as citizens and consumers through digital services. From this perspective, corporate surplus IT is a strategic asset unlike any other kind of surplus property.

Redemtech’s innovative approach to reusing surplus IT, including the Serious Good program, has positioned the company at the forefront of the ITAD industry. Reuse is a preferred disposition method under the e-Stewards® Standard, the only globally accredited third-party audited certification program that ensures compliance with e-waste treaties, laws and regulations. Redemtech’s leadership in achieving global e-Stewards Certification was a key reason the company was positioned as a Leader in the 2010 Gartner Magic Quadrant for North America IT Asset Disposition.

About Redemtech
Redemtech Technology Change Management (TCM) services help organizations increase IT asset utilization and assure regulatory compliance during technology transitions. Redemtech provides an outsourced solution to TCM that uses best practices and automated technologies to implement and manage processes for deploying, redeploying and decommissioning computer systems. New Booklet Reveals Strategy For Purchasing RealEstate in a Credit Driven Economy

Westwego, La. - While some people struggle to survive in today's sluggish business environment, many are doing better than ever-largely because they have mastered the proven but little-known strategy of "Bond For Deed Purchase".

That's the opinion of Lisa Carey, on independent broker and author of the just published booklet "Bond For Deed Purchase: A proven method to purchase small and large residential or commercial real-estate regardless of your credit worthiness."

Many people fear the rejection of the traditional lending institution because when the economy is weak, people cut back on paying bills timely," says Carey. "To survive in such an environment you need to develop and alternative strategy to capture the American Dream of home ownership. One also needs to master real-estate techniques that will allow you an opportunity to capitalize on this limited realestate market because of the increased competition that is typical.

Some additional realestate strategies Carey outlines in her booklet:

** Find Bond For Deeds, An easy way to get more real-estate is to simply call For Sale By Owner Sellers(Real-Estate owners) - people that are selling there property themselves. They may not be aware of this alternative way to sell

Their property. According to Carey, a properly scripted telephone call could generate approximately one order for every ten calls.

** Quote Reasonable Price and Down-payment in a competitive situation. While sellers need to sell their property as much as you want to purchase a home in competitive condition. You will win by offering close to the asking price and negotiate the terms and down-payment. Carey says that during a recession, market your offer 10 - 15 percent lower that you could be would normally pay in a healthy economy.

** Give A Little Extra. Where there are limited houses that can be creatively purchased, Carey advises people to do everything that can to get the owner sell the property with reasonable terms. "When you have received the property you have began building equity and you can sell the property for market value while recapturing your initial investment,"says Carey". "Now is an ideal time to take the step to homeownership with no more fear ".

Growth Hormones Direct Urges Dieters to Take Advantage of Human Growth Supplements for Energy and Mood

Growth Hormones Direct Urges Dieters to Take Advantage of Human Growth Supplements for Energy and Mood

Growth Hormones Direct urges dieters to take advantage of human growth supplements for energy and mood enhancement.

Mesa, AZ (Vocus) September 24, 2010

Growth Hormones Direct (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com) urges dieters to take advantage of human growth supplements (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com/buy-growth-hormone-hgh/index. php) for energy and mood enhancement (http://www. growthhormonesdirect. com/growth-hormone/growth-hormones-news/growth-hormones-direct-urges-dieters-to-take-advantage-of-human-growth-supplements-for-energy-and-mood/growth-hormones-direct-urges-dieters-to-take-advantage-of-human-growth-supplements-for-energy-and-mood). While there are weight loss options that provide high weight loss averages currently available on the market and affordable to the general public they are very strict; some requiring adherence to a VLCD. The very low calorie diet or VLCD leaves many suffering from energy loss as well as negative mood swings.

Lack of energy and bad mood are two of the most commonly cited reasons for failing to stick to a VLCD diet. Dieters who want to complete their program without inhibiting their productivity at work, their ability to fulfill their day to day duties at home, or offend everyone they come into contact with due to their foul mood should consider human growth supplements.

Dr. J. Ronald Willis of Growth Hormones Direct said, "Human growth supplements provide a number of benefits. An increase in energy and mood enhancement are only two of them. But for dieters attempting to fulfill the requirements of even a short term VLCD dietary program these are the two that count."

Growth Hormones Direct urges consumers to watch 'Science…Meet Nature' as they reap the benefits of optimizing their hormone levels through proper use of the homeopathic growth hormone formula. Optimal hormone levels allow individuals to enjoy increased general health. Growth Hormones Direct is an Arizona based distributor of quality health foods, supplements, pharmaceuticals and neutraceuticals.

Devices and Drugs in Treatment of Obesity Represent a $1.2 Billion Market Growing at Double Digit Rate, According to New Report

Devices and Drugs in Treatment of Obesity Represent a $1.2 Billion Market Growing at Double Digit Rate, According to New Report

The global pandemic of obesity, with particular emphasis in Western economies, is driving the development, marketing and sales of diverse treatment options at an aggressive rate. Over the next ten years, the market will see big shifts as new products -- drugs and devices -- are introduced to the market and take hold in clinical practice. The worldwide market for these products, the competitors and the outlook are forecasted in a new report from MedMarket Diligence.

Foothill Ranch, CA (PRWEB) January 20, 2011

"Incidence and prevalence rates for obesity are growing at startling rates while the costs of obesity and its co-morbidities (diabetes, heart disease, many others) are becoming increasingly clear," says Patrick Driscoll, President of MedMarket Diligence. "An already dynamic group of manufacturers developing and marketing drugs and devices to target obesity will see its ranks swell as clinical practice and healthcare systems continue to demand improved treatment options."

The market for products in the clinical management of obesity encompasses devices and drugs that variously focus on obesity by reducing the absorption of food, reducing appetite, creating artificial fullness, restricting stomach capacity and other methods. Given the potential appeal of drug therapy to avoid the need to undergo surgery, as is the case with many device-based obesity approaches or surgical techniques (e. g., Roux en-Y), an enormous effort, and funds have been applied to drug development, resulting in a small number of approved drugs and a growing list of drugs that have either failed trials or been withdrawn from the market. However, the demand persists, so drug companies continue to press development and clinical trials that will result in market success during the forecast period. In the interim, and beyond, device alternatives will hold favor and, in some areas, grow dramatically.

The MedMarket Diligence global report on obesity, "Products, Technologies and Markets Worldwide for the Clinical Management of Obesity, 2011-2019", is a detailed market and technology assessment and forecast of the products and technologies in the clinical management of obesity (bariatrics) (See http://www. mediligence. com/rpt/rpt-s835.htm). The report describes the current and projected patient population in obesity, detailing their incidence worldwide, with available incidence by country for the U. S., major European countries, major countries in Asia/Pacific (including Japan, China, India and Australia), the clinical practices in their management to encompass surgical approaches, medical supervised severely restricted diets, drug therapies, OTC treatments, biopharmaceuticals, non-pharmacologic approaches and weight maintenance approaches. The report describes clinical trends in the management of the obese. The report details the products on the market and the status of those in development for bariatric surgery, drug therapy, gastric stimulation devices, brain stimulation devices, combination therapies and genetic therapy and other therapies under development, and will provide current and worldwide market forecasts (2009-2019) separately for pharmaceuticals (with separate segment forecast data for satiety, malabsorption, appetite suppression and combination drugs) and devices (with separate segment forecast data for stomach restriction artificial fullness, malabsorption, gastric emptying and appetite suppression), with current (2009) market shares of the leading competitors in each segment. The report profiles the 45 leading competitors, detailing current and potential position in the market, their products and their market strengths and likelihood of future success.

ChangeMD, LLC – Internet Solutions for Physician Practices – Opens for Business

Www. changemd. com

GLASTONBURY, CT., October 9, 2003 – ChangeMD, LLC, an Internet software/hardware developer and integrator focusing on physician practices, opened for business this week. ChangeMD, LLC offers a variety of technology services and four web packages that enable physician practices to get online and begin serving patients’ information needs. "According to a recent Pew Research Center report, fully half, or 93 million Americans are online searching for health content," said Scott McRae, President and CEO of ChangeMD. "Internet users are going online to search for content about specific diseases and conditions, to prepare for doctors visits and surgery, and to seek and share support. ChangeMD offers physician practices a way to provide patients the information they are seeking and a means to improve the efficiency of the physician’s practice" McRae said.

ChangeMD, LLC is a new company with old roots. McRae, Founder of Creative Change, Inc., has over 10 years of experience working with some of ConnecticutÂ’s largest hospitals and physician practices designing and deploying technology. "We formed ChangeMD to focus on the physician practice where IT services are scarce, and needs are high. Most physician practices with fewer than 30 doctors have little if any IT capability in-house to help automate work flow and create efficiencies using technology. We have been extremely successful in saving our hospital clients and physician practices thousands of dollars yearly by implementing various Internet and Intranet technology services."

ChangeMD is offering a seminar October 23rd titled Internet Tools for Physician Practices.

The Center for Global Food Issues (CGFI), a food and farming related non-profit research and public policy organization, is providing analysis and commentary on several organizations currently lobbying on food-related issues. The profiles and commentary, published in CGFIÂ’s popular Milk is Milk blog, include such organizations as: the Weston A. Price Foundation, Citizens for Health, and Mercola. com (run by Joe Mercola).

The U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is considering limiting health claims on food labels that aren't completely proven after a government study found such statements confuse consumers. CGFI urges similar scrutiny to all food safety claims, both positive and negative, beyond those found on food labels to include Web sites, marketing materials and other sources.

Keep the Ads “Back” Where they Belong!

Keep the Ads “Back” Where they Belong!

The take-home message from a recent Instant Poll sponsored by The Science Advisory Board is that scientists and allied health professionals prefer that advertisements be relegated to the back of the publications they read.

(PRWEB) July 25, 2003

ARLINGTON, VA – July 23, 2003 – The take-home message from a recent Instant Poll sponsored by The Science Advisory Board is that scientists and allied health professionals prefer that advertisements be relegated to the back of the publications they read. Of the 1,340 participants in the poll, 40% would like to see a special section in the back of journals, magazines and newspapers that contains advertisements. In contrast, only 24% of those surveyed would like the status quo to remain and believe that advertisements should be distributed throughout the publication. The remainder, 10%, would like advertisements to be located in the front of publications.

“Given how busy most scientists and health care professionals are these days, most have very limited time to keep abreast of their field’s developments as cited in the literature,” claims Tamara Zemlo, Ph. D., MPH, Director of Scientific and Medical Communications for The Science Advisory Board, “therefore, when they do have some spare minutes to catch up on a few articles, they don’t appreciate being distracted by advertisements.” Instead members of The Science Advisory Board indicate that they would like a special advertising section that they could peruse at their leisure. Not only is the fact that it would be placed in an unobtrusive location attractive to them, but also grouping all the advertisements together – possibly by product or instrument category – would make it a convenient resource.

The Science Advisory Board is an online panel of more than 15,700 scientists, physicians and other life science and medical professionals from 62 countries. By convening electronically, Science Advisory Board members participate in online studies to voice their opinions on issues that directly affect the evolution and development of the tools and techniques of their professions. The Science Advisory Board is currently conducting ongoing studies in other exciting areas of the life sciences. Scientists can contribute their own views on the tools and techniques of their field by participating at http://www. scienceboard. net (http://www. scienceboard. net). The Science Advisory Board was organized in 1997 by BioInformatics, LLC (http://www. gene2drug. com (http://www. gene2drug. com)), a research and consulting firm located in Arlington, VA.

YWCA Greater Triangle Takes A Stand Against Racism; Will You?

YWCA Greater Triangle Takes A Stand Against Racism; Will You?

The YWCA Greater Triangle's “Stand Against Racism" is a movement aimed at raising awareness that racism still exists and it can no longer be ignored or tolerated. Racism divides our communities and can keep individuals from achieving success in education, employment, and quality of life. Interested community groups, organizations and individuals are asked to join the 2010 Stand Against Racism by becoming participating sites for “Stand” events across the region on Friday, April 30, 2010.

Raleigh, N. C. (PRWEB) December 3, 2009

The YWCA Greater Triangle today announced its 2010 “Stand Against Racism,” a movement aimed at raising awareness that racism still exists in our communities and that it can no longer be ignored or tolerated. The pervasiveness of racism divides communities and can keep individuals from achieving success in education, employment, and quality of life. Interested groups, organizations and individuals are asked to join the 2010 Stand Against Racism (http://www. StandAgainstRacism. org) by becoming participating sites for “Stand” events across the region on Friday, April 30, 2010. The mission of the YWCA Greater Triangle seeks to unite people for a common goal: the elimination of racism.

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, a civil rights organization in Montgomery, Ala., the number of hate groups (http://www. splcenter. org/intel/map/hate. jsp) operating in the U. S. has grown 54 percent in the last eight years. Today, nearly 1,000 hate groups operate in the U. S., with 30 in North Carolina. The Southern Poverty Law Center’s Intelligence Report sites “immigration fears, a failing economy, and the successful campaign of President Obama” as factors that have fueled the increase. Hate groups have beliefs or practices that attack or malign entire classes of people. They promote hate, hostility, and sometimes violence.

In response, the YWCA created the Stand Against Racism to combat the spread of hate and intolerance, and to celebrate the richness of diversity. In 2009, the movement attracted more than 300 partner organizations that became participating sites by hosting local “Stands.” More than 30,000 individuals took a stand against racism. They sent a strong message by committing themselves to a lifetime of promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all people in their community and in the world. This powerful, unified effort helped raised awareness that racism hurts everyone. Participants ranged from school-age children to elected officials, executives of large corporations, church leaders, and others.

“The YWCA Greater Triangle is calling on all local organizations, corporations, places of worship, government agencies, and individuals across the region and state to join with us by becoming a participating site for the 2010 Stand Against Racism,” said Folami Bandele, executive director, YWCA Greater Triangle. “Any group of any size that believes in a society free of racism is invited to join us.”

Organizations and groups can become participating sites by signing up through the Stand Against Racism Web site (http://www. StandAgainstRacism. org). Each site will host a Stand Against Racism event at their own location, which can be private or open to the public. Participation in the 2010 Stand Against Racism is free and signup is simple. The YWCA will provide all necessary materials, including a How to Run the Event template that can be customized for each organization’s needs. Each “Stand” can range from gatherings at work to larger-scale rallies and marches. No matter what shape the “Stand” takes in each participating site, all activities will echo the theme “racism is unacceptable.” Organizations are urged to visit http://www. StandAgainstRacism. org (http://www. StandAgainstRacism. org) to join this important movement.

The Racial Justice program of the YWCA Greater Triangle serves as a resource in the community for increasing awareness and opening dialog about race and ethnicity that goes beyond the terror of hate groups. The YWCA impacts individuals’ assumptions and attitudes about structural racism, which can be embedded in unfair housing policies, lending institutions’ practices, legal rulings, class disparities, employment opportunities, disciplinary actions, educational outcomes and other issues.

This year the Stand Against Racism will be a collaboration of 65 YWCA Associations throughout the country. For information in the Research Triangle region, please contact Co-Director of Racial Justice Bridgette Burge at (919) 828-3205.

About the YWCA Greater Triangle (http://www. ywcatriangle. org)
The YWCA unites women and men who strive to improve the social and economic conditions that affect girls, women and their families. Established locally in 1923, YWCA programs address disparities that still exist in health, education and economics to make life-changing differences for thousands of area families. These programs are represented through four core initiatives: Women's Empowerment, Racial Justice, Youth Development, and Health and Wellness. As a private, non-profit organization, the YWCA is dedicated to promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all people.

About the Stand Against Racism Movement (http://www. StandAgainstRacism. org)
The “Stand Against Racism” is an annual event managed by the YWCA Trenton and YWCA Princeton, N. J., in collaboration with 65 YWCA Associations nationwide. The YWCA has a rich history of advocating for racial justice and has been at the forefront of most major race relations movements in the United States. The YWCA and its local associations affect real change through a process that identifies and eradicates the barriers that divide humans and perpetuate racism and other forms of oppression. Individuals can learn new ways of working cooperatively through shared resources and perspectives.

World Health Organization Warning Millions at Risk from Avian Flu Pandemic -- 'US Unprepared for Deadly Avian Flu,' ABC News 9/29/05

World Health Organization Warning Millions at Risk from Avian Flu Pandemic -- 'US Unprepared for Deadly Avian Flu,' ABC News 9/29/05

The World Health Organizaton is warning about a Global Health Pandemic from Avian Flu. The medication needed to fight the virus is known but in short supply in US as only 2.5 million doses are available when 200 million may be required. Consequently, Americans may have to buy medications on line from Canadian prescription companies like www. LePharmacy. com just as they did during the Flu vaccine shortage of 2004.

(PRWEB) October 4, 2005

Scientists from the World Health Organization are again sounding the alarm on the influenza A (H5N1) virus, Z strain, commonly known as "Bird Flu". The virus, which first appeared in Hong Kong in 1997, could mutate genetically, making it easier for humans to catch and transmit the disease among themselves.

Avian Influenza is an infectious disease of birds caused by Type A strains of the flu virus. The WHO says that 57 people have died in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia mainly from contact with infected birds. The real danger is the increasing number of human cases and the highly infectious nature of the virus. The mortality rate for infection is 75 per cent. Only Ebola and Rabies come close at about 50 %.

Signs the disease has spread recently to birds in Russia and Kazakhstan are adding to concerns, the WHO says. When asked whether he thought a widespread outbreak in humans was imminent, Jong - Wook Lee, Director General of the WHO said: "We don't know when it will come. But it would be hugely irresponsible if the WHO and member states did not take preventive measures now." Accordingly, the WHO has made plans to have three million treatments of a medication called Tamiflu stockpiled in case of a pandemic in humans.

Tamiflu (Also known as Oseltamivir) is an antiviral drug primarily invented for the purpose of treating influenza. Tamiflu can also prevent the onset of flu even if you have been exposed to people who have it. Tamiflu is the only drug that is effective in stopping the Avian/Bird Flu from spreading once exposed.

A draft report of the US Federal Government's Avian Flu emergency plan predicts that as many as 200 million Americans could be infected. Roche Pharmaceutical, the manufacturer of Tamiflu, has set up a first come, first served waiting list and the US is nowhere near the top of the list. According to Laurie Garrett, senior fellow for global health at The Council on Foreign Relations, the current US stockpile for Tamiflu treatments is only around 2.5 million. When asked why the United States did not order Tamiflu earlier, US Health and Human Services Secretary Michael Leavitt said, "I can't answer that. I don't know the answer."

To many Americans, this sounds distressingly familiar to the 2004 flu shot shortage that saw US citizens flocking north to Canada and enlisting the help of Canadian prescription drug agencies like www. LePharmacy. com. " The prospect of having to protect oneself and one's family against Avian Bird Flu is gaining momentum" said Ross McKinlay, Director of Sales at www. LePharmacy. com a leading online Canadian pharmacy intermediary. He also added " beware of those companies that offer Tamiflu without a prescription. I know that much of this non-prescription Tamiflu is being sourced through Turkey and other similar countries that do not have the same strict health standards as the US and Canada. Neither the quality nor the manufacturer can be guaranteed. LePharmacy. com provides Tamiflu from Roche Pharmaceuticals only. We don't compromise the patient's health for the sake of profit."

HCGDropCentral. com Announces New Weight Loss Solution with Twofold Action

Founder of HCGDropCentral. com, Alan Sedar, is pleased to announce the launch of his new website. Shoppers will discover a revolutionary method to drop pounds with little effort and no unwanted side effects. HCG Drops not only help to eliminate fat tissue but they also help to curb one’s appetite. Visit the website’s newly created blog to learn how to keep from putting weight back on once the pounds are gone.

Howell, NJ (Vocus) October 22, 2010

Web entrepreneur Alan Sedar is pleased to announce the publication of his brand-new website, http://www. HCGDropCentral. com. Launched in August 2010, the online business was developed to provide shoppers with a new, revolutionary weight loss system that utilizes a twofold action to help drop pounds with little effort.

“The HCG weight-loss system gets to work on the body with twofold action. Not only does it help to eliminate fat tissue, but it also helps to curb the body’s appetite. There’s no other weight-loss system like it!” Sedar said.

At HCGDropCentral. com shoppers are invited to learn more about the HCG weight-loss system. The human chorionic gonadotropin is available in a sublingual form and is to be applied under the tongue with a liquid dropper where it will be absorbed immediately. This allows the solution to skip the digestive process and eliminates the risk of becoming altered or modified in the stomach. For the average consumer, it is recommended that drops be taken three times a day in 10-drop increments for best results. Each bottle contains 2 ounces of HCG drops and can last for up to about 40 days.

“Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) works to redirect and then reset the human body’s hypothalamus – a portion of the brain that contains memory of your body’s weight,” he said. “Neglecting the hypothalamus is why many other weight-loss systems fail. The body needs to adjust its caloric intake the right way.”

Keep an eye out for new products as he will continue to update his website with new and emerging weight-loss aids. Sedar is also happy to answer questions about the HCG drops as well as weight loss and general nutrition because – thanks to a family member, who worked at GNC during his childhood, and thanks to his own personal interest in general health – he is quite knowledgeable about supplements and healthy living.

To learn more about the many benefits of HCG Drops, shoppers are encouraged to visit the website’s newly formulated blog, http://www. HCGDropCentralBlog. com. This interactive platform will also discuss ways to boost one’s metabolism through exercise while also providing a variety of healthy-living recipes.
